Sermon Summary: Believing God is wonderful. But Jesus urged us to do one more thing — to speak the word of
faith, to verbalize what we are seeking from God. Such a believer, who understands the power of the spoken word of
faith, "shall have whatsoever he saith".

Mark 11:22-23, KJV ...Have faith in God. [23] For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this
mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

•• We see here three foundation stones of faith that gets results:

(1) Have faith in God [vs. 22] — faith in His Word, in His promises, in His Son Jesus. It’s not “faith in faith” or in
memorized formulas that gets results, but faith in God.

(2) Believe in your heart, without doubting.

(3) And say with your mouth what you believe.

• Believe in your heart and say with your mouth. Believing God and His Word is of great importance. But Jesus
encourages us further to articulate, to say aloud, what we are believing God for. There is great power in the spoken

1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he
hears us. [15] And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of him.

•• We can’t just say any and everything that comes to mind and expect God to grant it. Our saying must be
"according to His will". And His will is found in His word, the bible.

Part I: THE POWER OF FAITH

Heb 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

‘Substance’ here refers to the foundation that supports you in your life. Your faith is going to
carry you through 2008. ‘Evidence’ means ‘confidence’. Faith is being confident of what you are
going to achieve based on what you see right now. It is an attitude and a posture of confidence
that God is leading you all the way.

Faith is having the confidence of holding yourself or your own when you are with powerful
people, bosses, colleagues, subordinates and even family or strangers. God wants us to walk in
confidence. Hebrew 10 tells us to hold on to our confidence and not to throw it away.

Without confidence, means without faith, and without faith it is impossible to please God. This
confidence is not about arrogance but trusting God and knowing that He will see you through.
God’s power travels through an atmosphere of faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
When God’s words are preached, deliverance, healing and all signs of miracles is performed and
confirmed through faith. The anointing power travels through our confidence in God. Have
confidence that God is with you. With an attitude change, your ministry is changed by having
confidence and walking in confidence.

Your confidence is the cable where God’s power travels like a live wire from heaven to you.
When Jesus was attacked by the devil in the desert, he was tempted in the realm of His
confidence. Satan was interested in Jesus’ life and His confidence. In Matthew 4:1-3, 5-6, 8-9 –
especially verses 3, 6, 9 – notice the words ‘if you are the Son of God’ that Satan used. Satan
was testing Jesus’ confidence as the Son of God. He was daring Jesus to prove that He was the
Son of God by doing what Satan wanted Him to do. It was necessary for Jesus to show who He
was. Satan uses the same techniques on us, too. The devil will tempt us that ‘if we are the
children of God, then do this and that’. The devil will always test and shake our confidence again
and again in our faith as the child of God.

The devil is a scholar of Bible School. He knows the scriptures very well but he twisted it. To
defeat the devil, we have to know the bible too. Years ago, there was a newspaper article
featuring two young men of a local church who was killed by a drunken driver on their way
home from church. The pastor of the church started this church not too long before the accident.
After the accident, a Christian friend of the pastor from his previous church came to mock at the
pastor. This friend was telling the pastor that ‘if the divine blessing of God was upon you and
your church, why was there no divine protection upon your congregation?” We know that this is
not true. We live in a broken world. Satan attacks not only an individual, he will try to attack the
whole church’s confidence as well. When we do God’s works, the devil will do everything he
can to shake your confidence. The devil was trying to shake the pastor’s confidence in believing
that the church he pastor was not under God’s will. But this church, today, stands strong and is
still growing.

The devil is very cunning and will make you doubt who you are in God. But the beautiful thing
is when Jesus was tempted, Jesus did not have to prove to the devil, his enemies or even his

disciples that He is the Son of God. It is the ultimate confidence He has in who He is. He did not
have to prove Himself. The same goes for us.

When we are impacting the realms of arts, media, entertainments, business, education, and so
forth, the devil will try to break your confidence and ask you to prove yourself and to men. Even
Christians will ask you to prove that God is with you especially in the midst of negative events.
But when you worry, the more you will worry. When you focus on the negative, the negative
will expand. When you give reason and react to fear, you loose your confidence.

In Matthew 11, Jesus wants us to be the light of the world. He mingled and make friends with the
tax collector, the sinners, the prostitutes, and the fisherman. He shocked the conservatives of His
times. Jesus sent His disciples into the world, to reach out to the world which is directly opposite
from what the holy men of His times taught. They taught the people to get out of the
world/darkness into the light. They told the “holy men” not to mix around with the sinners of the
world because they were defiled. Jesus did just the opposite. His disciples went into the world, to

Even John the Baptist doubted Jesus. John the holy prophet sent his disciple to ask Jesus whether
He was truly the Son of God (Matt 11:5). But Jesus did not prove Himself to John or his disciple
by performing miracles before them. Instead, He responded by telling John to look at the fruits of
His life where the sick were healed, the blind saw, the lame walked. He said to John, “Blessed
are those who were not stumbled because of Me”. Jesus was not bothered with what people
thought of Him. He simply did what the Father wanted Him to do. This is the confidence He had
of who He is.

We have all heard the quote "Faith in God can move mountains." But the caveat in all of what
that means is how in the world do I achieve mountain moving faith? Faith is the belief that God
is real and that God is good . . . It is a choice to believe that the One Who made it all hasn’t left it
all and that He still sends light into the shadows and responds to gestures of faith. Faith is the
belief that God will do what is right. God says that the more hopeless your circumstances, the
more likely your salvation. The greater your cares, the more genuine your prayers. The darker
the room, the greater the need for light. What is the power of faith?

Hebrews 11:1, 3, 6 "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not
see. 3By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is
seen was not made out of what was visible. And without faith it is impossible to please God,
because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
earnestly seek him."

Romans 1:17 "For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by
faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

I. Faith is believing God’s Word above your sight.

A. God’s help is near and always available, but only to those who seek it.

This is just A, B, C's, but today, tonight, tomorrow; on the internet; a lot of people will hear this
and they know it in their head, but not in their heart. Now this is what I am saying. God is near.
The Holy Spirit is in you. But if you don’t ask for it, if you don't seek it, you won't receive it.

Let me give you an example. This piano is on a dolly, a piano dolly, and maybe you can't see it
but it's on these nice wheels here. And the reason we put it on this dolly is so we can move it all
over the place without hurting our backs. The older we get, the more we need back help. I know
without a shadow of a doubt, and I don't need to prove it to you, I know that because it is on
these wheels I can move this piano from there to here, but it would be difficult. Right?

Cameron would you help me right now? Louis, would you help me right now? Come on up here.

I just want to move this piano over there, so you guys get around here and help me move it.
Ready? One, two, three. Very simple isn't it? Now keep moving it because we are going to have
to move it back. But there is a method to the madness. Very easy. Thank you.

This is all it takes for you to touch God: "God help me."

But you will be surprised how many people don't ask.

"Pastor, can you pray for...x, y, z..."

"Well have you prayed yet?"

"No, I’m waiting for you."

"What?! Ask God."

Now, that's not the most important part. The most important part is this:

1. If you constantly choose to go it alone, God will let you.

There are certain prayers that we pray that only God can answer. You need to follow me here. If
you have an unsaved child, your best weapon is prayer. If you have an unsaved family member

need God to help you with. Do you think that God can move this piano back where it was? Have
you no faith? If God created universes in a spoken word, He can move that piano. No Sweat! So
I have two choices. Because I am absolutely, certain without a shadow of a doubt, that God can

me? If you have done nothing to increase your skill level, what makes you think God's going to

Now some of you don't like this because what we would rather do is see if God could move the
mountain for us. But if you get a backhoe and a tractor and a shovel you can move mountains all
day long. With God going by your side.

2. The door of faith opens when we confess our lack.

It is important to confess your lack to God. "God! My back hurts and I can't move that piano."
That's important. But there are many times you have to confess your lack to other human beings
also. I am not trying to take God and the Holy Spirit out of the picture at all. James wrote "Faith
without works is dead." He did it for a reason. And He says that God is there to help you do the
impossible, but many times He want's you to ask somebody to go with you.

"Well ask Cameron and Louis" They didn't even know it, but I knew that I was going to ask
those guys.

Well, what if somebody says no. If Cameron would have said "No." I would have asked
someone else. Are you getting my drift? It doesn't hurt, but first of all Faith is believing God's
word above your sight but also God's help is near and many times he is sending people your way
and that is the help that God is sending.

II. Every universe was made by God’s command and He has not abandoned them.

There are many universes out there and we will never get to the end of what God is creating.
Even as we speak. But every universe is made by God and He has not abandoned any of them.
Because it is His creation. All creation no matter how far and wide, is from the God our
Almighty God, the God of all Creation.

A. We are not alone here on earth to fend for ourselves.

He sends us the Holy Spirit to come inside. And the Holy Spirit comes and guides us in His
word. And His word gives us faith. And then he brings us brothers and sisters along side us to

1. Christians have the promised Holy Spirit.

You have the promise. When you accept Jesus into your heart, you have the Holy Spirit in you
heart, He never leaves you. He doesn't forsake you. He is there all of the time. And not only that,
but when you read Hebrews and other texts, you find out that there are guardian angles for all of
us. Some of us, your guardian angles have to work harder than others. Others, you don't even
know that they exist, but the reason that you are alive today means that they exist. Right?

2. Look to our own children.

a. If they want our help we will help out.

Many of you don't have any children. But you mother and father are the same way, and if you
don't have children, you're that way with your parents, you that way with your brothers and
sisters. You are that way with good friends. If the people that you love the most want your help,
you will reach out and help them. Is that not true?

Every parent here, if you child called right now and said, "Will you help me?" You would help.
Now sometimes they call and your help is leaving them alone or just encouraging them. No

possible and go? Or we would get in the car and go. Wouldn't we all do that? You would all do
that.

God wants to help His children.

b. If they want nothing to do with us we still long for them.

I have experienced this. Many of you parents have experienced this. Here you are, you are sitting
at home or you are going to work, just doing your thing. Is there ever a day where that child is
totally out of your mind and you forget they exist? The kids that are giving you the most grief.
Are they on your mind the most or the least? The child that does well, you kind of let them go on
their own. When the call, it gives you joy, but it doesn't burden your heart. If that's the way that
you think. What do you think it is like for our Heavenly Father who died for you? Who gave His
life for you? Who came in the form of a man, Jesus Christ. Who took on a human body for all
eternity, for you. God longs for you like the father longed for the Prodigal son.

3. God will not interfere, but is readily available to help His children.

him. And perhaps you have never moved a mountain, because you have never really reached.
You have tried to go it alone, instead of asking friends.

III. He rewards those who truly want to find Him.

Faith is believing that He exists and he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Who
really, diligently want to find Him.

A. Seeking God in faith is not a scavenger hunt.

When you have faith in God, everyone is begging and scavenging around and hoping that God
can somehow throw you a bone, but He is there, willing and waiting.

1. He is in plain sight.

No mystery, how do I find God? You've already found him. He's here he's in you. He's given you
his word. He’s present.

2. He has set your plan in motion.

Motion is very good ladies and gentlemen. Motion in life is critical. If you sit around and
analyze, you get no where. Even a scientist who is trying to discover the cure for cancer is sitting
there putting stuff places, looking at things, stirring thing, He is always thinking. Every human
being here has a plan for your babies. If you have had them you have, if you haven't you will.
The plan changed as life when on, but there is a plan. I am a rough parent at times, but there was
a time where my oldest son went against the plan so I didn't let him sit on the couch. Motion
happened. Now, listen, by motion happening, by setting him in motion he realized that the path
that he was on was a bummer. While dad was eating steak he was eating top ramen. And those
experiences brought him back to the plan. Now I can't tell him exactly what to do, but the plan
was to get ahead.

What does that mean in the Kingdom of Heaven? God has already set a plan in place for you,
and it is already moving. Your plan is moving. If you are walking on the path that God has set
before you the plan and life and things begin to fall into place. When you get off the path and
you make the decision to eat top ramen your Heavenly Father loves you more than we could love
our own children and if you need to just eat top ramen, and when He needs to fill your cupboards
with food, God sets it in motion. It's already in motion. There is a plan for you. God said it. I
have a plan for you. That's scripture. I know the plans I have for you they are already in motion.
So when you fall into the motion, into the plan, there is peace. It doesn't mean that there isn't

He has set your plan in motion. He has given you His word to guide you in the path that He has

Conclusion

1. All the universes were created from nothing.

Every universe was created from nothing. From His spoken word. He created it and spoke into it.

2. You are much more than nothing. You are special to Him.

Your Heavenly Father is individualistic. What I mean is that when you seek Him and find Him ,
He will help you. When you sit there and rebel against Him he sits there and waits. Maybe not
literally, but He sits there and waits for you. Longing for you to come to Him.

3. Press in and He will move mountains for you.
