Forging higher unities, claiming more victories

History and present should bind us. With the hike of issues and threats inside and outside the
University, let us go back and re-affirm the historical role of the student movement. The Office of
the Student Regent has proven its leadership in all the struggles that we have waged. In fact, the
history of the Office of the Student Regent is also the history of our persistent fight for students' and
peoples' democratic rights. In the coming year, it will once again serve as an instrument to unite
every Iskolars ng Boyan for us to coilectivelv take a stand on various issues that we shall face. It will
once again unite with the basic sectors for us to collectively struggle for social justice and social
change.

We do not need a new administration that will replicate the corruption. political killings, poverty,
and economic turmoil that the Arroyo regime has brought us. In as much as we do not need a new
UP administration that will re-implement tuition and other fee increases, sadistic and anti-student
policies, commercialization, and privatization schemes that the Roman Empire has implemented.

Now, more than ever, after decades of Office of the Student Regent' existence, we need the
participation of a broader number of students to continue making history. Now, more than ever, we
are again ·being called to renew our fervor and continuously fight and protect our rights. In all of
these, the wisdom of collective action should continue to resonate among the iskolars ng Boyan, as
we wil' again march as one to lead the path towards a democratic University.

General Plan of Action

I. Towards the democratization of the University

A. Call for ourright to proper and fully-functioning student lounge and offices

B. Oppose the implementation of proposed student code of conduct in aliUP units

C. Oppose large lecture classes in UPLBand its possible implementation to other UP units

D. Consult with the students regarding the updated system-wide student demands and
engage the UP administration for its implementation

E. Call for students' and student organizations' rights to basic facilities such as free venue
for general assemblies, more flexible library hours, etc

F. Institutionalize consultations with the UP administration and students

G. Institutionalize student representatives in all policy making bodies that involve's student
issues

H. Ensure democratic participation of students in University affairs

I. Ensure our freedom tc assemble and our right to expression

J. Ensure that student organizations, councils, and publication funds are free from
administration intervention

K. Continue with the investigation of student harassment, red batting, and militarization in
all UP campuses
