Activation of Contingency – Date, Time, and Reason

Overview

The XML file sent to SEFAZ – both the layout 1.10 and, valid as of April 1, 2010, layout 2.00 – must
include the date, time, and reason why contingency was activated. This is relevant for contingency
processing in the following cases, when the NF-e is printed on security paper:

The user triggers one of the folllowing actions from the NF-e Monitor:
o Switches to central contingency per region
o Switches to central contingency per business place
o Manually switches an individual NF-e posted under normal conditions to contingency
processing
The system automatically does the following:
o Switches to central contingency per business place

Note also the following about the contingency date and time:

The date and time must also be printed on the DANFE.

The date and time sent to SEFAZ must be the local time of the issuer of the NF-e.

Customizing

Contingency date and time

When a contingency-relevant change is made (one of the cases described in the Overview section), the
system stores the UTC timestamp of the change. It then uses the time zone maintained for the issuing
company’s business place and converts the timestamp date and time to the local time of the issuing
company’s business place – and stores these converted values as the contingency date and contingency
time.

To enable this conversion, you must have maintained your company’s business place address data as
follows: in Customizing for Cross-Application Components, under General Application Functions -> Nota
Fiscal -> CNPJ Business Places -> Define Business Places, select the relevant business place, choose Goto ->
Address, and in the Street Address group box, specify the time zone.

If the time zone is not maintained in the address data of the issuing company’s business place, the
system converts the contingency date and time using the time zone from the user’s local settings.

Contingency reason

You have defined reasons for contingency in maintenance view J_1BNFE_CONTINRV, via Transaction
SM30. Once the next relevant Support Package is available for your release, this view will be visible in
Customizing under Cross-Application Components -> General Application Functions -> Nota Fiscal ->
Electronic Notas Fiscais (NF-e) -> Define Contingency Reasons.

1
In this view, for each contingency reason, define a two-character code and a language-dependent
description of the code. The description is included in the XML file sent to SEFAZ.

In addition, you define default values for the contingency reason in the activity Define Business Places,
(see path above, under Contingency date and time). Select the relevant business place, choose NFe
Configuration from the dialog structure, and enter default contingency reasons as follows:

In the Cont.Re.MS Def. field, enter the default reason for contingency when the system
automatically switches to contingency when the messaging system is down.
In the Cont.Re.Switch field, enter the default reason for contingency when a user manually
switches an NF-e posted under normal conditions to contingency processing, from the NF-e
Monitor.

Transactions

When a contingency-relevant change is made, the system records the date and time as described in the
Customizing section.

The system records the reason for contingency processing as follows:

Activated
The user switches to Via NF-e Monitor: The user must specify a contingency reason in the
central contingency Contingency -> Cont.Reas.Reg. field.
per region Contingency Region
The user switches to Via NF-e Monitor: There are two possibilities:

2) If the user selects the AS Down checkbox, the user
must specify a contingency reason in the Cont.Re.AS
Down field.
Note: If the user selects both the MS Down and AS
Down checkboxes, the system records the
contingency date, time, and reason of the AS Down
checkbox.

Note the following dependencies for the MS Down

checkbox in the view for activating central
contingency for the business place (via the NF-e
Monitor, under Contingency -> Contingency Bus.Pl.):
Aut. Cont.: If this checkbox is selected, the
system activates contingency/the MS Down
checkbox when the messaging system is not
available.
Deact. Cont.: If this checkbox is not selected,
the system deactivates contingency/the MS
Down checkbox when the messaging system
is up again. You can prevent this automatic
deactivation of contingency by selecting the
Deact. Cont. checkbox – that is, if you want to
manually control the switch back to regular
NF-e processing.

Reports

You can display the contingency date, time, and reason in the NF-e Monitor, via the following new fields:

Field Description
NF-e Conting. Reason Shows the two-character code of the contingency reason
NF-e Conting. Desc. Shows the description (in language-dependent text) of the contingency
reason
The NF-e Monitor displays the description in up to four consecutive
description fields, corresponding to the four lines of text that can be entered
in the contingency reason description in Customizing.
NF-e Conting. Date Shows the date when the processing mode was switched to contingency,
converted to local date of the NF-e issuer
NF-e Conting. Time Shows the time when the processing mode was switched to contingency,
converted to local time of the NF-e issuer
Time Zone Shows the time zone of the issuing company’s business place, which was used
to convert the contingency date and time to the local date and time of the
NF-e issuer
