1 Relay &Protection Microcomputer Test System
I.Characteristics of Product
1. Embedded host machine equipped with Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD)
The host machine adopts a high-speed and high-performance embedded microcomputer system equipped
with a CPLD, so it has high response speed, wide transmission band and can producing high-density fitting
sine wave with 500 points per cycle for the fundamental wave. The output waveform is smooth, and no
harmonic component exists. Since there are a great number of output points and accurate filtering circuit is
used, the distortion of the waveform is very small. In a harmonic output process, a high density of 55 points
per cycle can be achieved for even the ninth harmonic at 450Hz. Meanwhile, the software has very
powerful man-machine conversation and on-line assistance functions, and can control any test parameter.
2. Twelve-path synchronous D/A output in a single machine
A 16-digit high-accuracy DAC chip is used to ensure high fitting waveform accuracy and good linearity.
Twelve paths of analog signals can be output at the same time so as to meet full-range tests, such as
transformer protection and standby power source automatic put-in.
3. High-accuracy linear power amplifier and synchronous output of six-phase voltage and
six-phase current
Voltage and current amplifiers are designed elaborately to realize AC/ DC sharing, and the output stage
adopts unique high-accuracy ultra-linear amplifying technique. High accuracy and good reliability can be
achieved, and six-phase AC voltage and six-phase AC current can be output at the same time. Each phase
of AC voltage output is as high as 130V, 70VA, while full AC current output is as high as 180A. The DC
voltage output is up to 300V, 130VA.
4. Host machine-integrated single cabinet structure with big screen LCD and complete
interface has obtained appearance patent
The device uses an 8.0" big-screen high-resolution-graph liquid crystal display (LCD) screen with dot
matrix of 640×480. The operation interface and the test result are displayed fully in Chinese, and all
operation processes are set on the display screen. The display screen displays intuitively and clearly.
The device is operable by an external keyboard, and external keyboard/ mouse interface is provided.
Furthermore, two USB interfaces and two RS232 interfaces are provided to communicate with an external
computer and other equipment. It only requires 220V AC power and runs immediately after being started
up. It is convenient to carry, and very suitable for flow test and field work.
5. Intelligent self-protection
A radiating structure of the latest design is used to ensure excellent ventilation state. Phenomena
endangering the safety of the device, such as overcurrent, overvoltage, overload, short circuit, over-high
temperature and data abnormity can be judged at the same time, and even faulty operation does not go so
far as to damage the device. Besides, the alarming indicating lamp of the device turns red and the amplifier
is switched off automatically when danger signal, such as external voltage enters the tester through a
terminal.
6. Plentiful Binary and powerful software function
3 Relay &Protection Microcomputer Test System
The device has eight binary inputs ( A B C R a b c r ) and four binary outputs. The binary input contact is
compatible with the idle contact and the 0-250Vdc electric potential contact, and can be recognized
intelligently. The device is operated by 23 keys via the big liquid crystal display screen, and all interfaces
are displayed in Chinese. The device can finish checking most on-site tests. Meanwhile, it can conveniently
finish testing protective devices produced by foreign manufactures, such as ABB, Siemens and AREVA.
The device can be placed vertically or horizontally, and allows off line operation as well as operation with
externally connected PC machine. The test result can be sorted out and recorded automatically into a test
report for easy reference, and can also be directly stored in a U disk, so it can be conveniently transferred to
the externally connected PC machine for editing, printing, etc. The software can be upgraded simply and
rapidly through the U disk or through downloading of the externally connected PC machine without
modifying any hardware.
The software has powerful auxiliary computing function, and can automatically calculate positive, negative
and zero-sequence voltages and currents and primary and secondary active power, reactive power and
power factors.
The six -phase voltage and six -phase current outputs can perform standby power automatic switching
double-group test and transformer three-phase differential test, and wires are connected conveniently.

2. 16-digit DAC
A 16-digit high-accuracy DAC chip is adopted to ensure high fitting waveform accuracy and good linearity.
Tiny distortion can be ensured even during small signal output.
3. Low-pass filter
Since DAC has high resolution and a large number of waveform points and step waves output by DAC
conversion have high waveform quality, only a simple low-pass filter is needed to filter high-frequency
components in a later stage so as to restore high-quality and high-stability sine waves. Therefore, the
problems of amplitude value, phase drift, etc. are overcome, and the trueness of harmonic test and
high-grade simulation transient waveform are ensured.
Power amplifying circuit adopts the unique ultra-linear amplifying technique, uses an imported high-power
apparatus as the output stage and combines the elaborately and rationally designed radiating structure so as
to achieve enough power redundancy and heat capacity. Intelligent protection can judge overvoltage,
overcurrent, overload, overheat and short circuit protection at the same time. When overcurrent occurs in a
current circuit and overload or short circuit occurs in a voltage circuit, the entire power amplifying circuit is
switched off automatically and sound alarm signal is emitted to prompt. In order to avoid overheat of the
power amplifying circuit after long-term running under heavy current, software time limit under heavy
current is set for the device. The device can run for a long time during output under 10A. When the current
reaches 10A or above, the software time limit is started. After reaching the time limit, the software
automatically stops power output and gives alarm instruction. The higher the output current is, the shorter
the time limit is, so safe running of the power amplifier is ensured.
7. Panel structure
The panel structure of the device is shown in Fig. 2.3.2.

(Note: Super series of products basically have the same operation mode, and the operation
manual takes Super-630 for example).
I. Circuit connection
Connection modes of analog quantity and binary output terminals are shown in the following Fig.:
Note: if the tested device is on the running site, on-site current transformer (CT) and potential
transformer (PT) loops shall be disconnected from the protective device so as not to affect correct test of
the device by strong disturbance. Furthermore, please connect all external connecting wires before
switching on the power amplifier.
Current output terminal: correspondingly connect IA, IB, IC, Ix, Iy, Iz and In with the tested device
one by one.
Voltage output terminal: correspondingly connect UA, UB, UC, Ux, Uy, Uz and Un with the tested
device one by one.
11 Relay &Protection Microcomputer Test System
Description: Please connect any end of current output to the ground (shown in Fig. 3.1.2) while testing
interphase output of the current relay so as to obtain the highest accuracy; and grounding is not required
when IA, IB, IC and IN are all connected during test of microcomputer protection.
Binary input terminal: binary input signal shares a common terminal. A, B, C and R or a, b, c and r
are connected to the tested device respectively, and if the tested device is not a relay, all the contacts shall be
connected for the software of the device decides how to calculate the breakdown quantity of the next step
according to the acting situation of the contact point. Therefore, all protected signals of A, B, C and R shall
be connected to the device while testing the protective device so as to ensure correct test.
The input part is isolated from working power supply, power amplifying power supply, etc. of the host
machine, so the common terminal of the input part is not communicated with the common terminals UN and
IN of current and voltages parts. Switching value potential input is directed, so the common terminal shall
be connected with positive potential terminal while the input end shall be connected with negative potential
terminal. Keep the common terminal potential higher than the input terminal shown in Fig. 3.1.3.
The system judges whether the contact is normally open or normally closed by overturn of contact
signal, and correct detection is unavailable if the contact point is connected reversely. The contact point is
normally closed when the test device judges the existence of potential under normal state. The contact point
is closed during protection action, and the idle contact is closed. Therefore, overrun of the contact point
cannot be judged.
Binary output terminal: four terminals ①、②、③and ④ are connected to external contact needing
fault startup respectively. When the device starts testing and outputs breakdown quantity, the contact is
12 Relay &Protection Microcomputer Test System
closed; on the contrary, the contact is disconnected when the breakdown quantity is eliminated.
Auxiliary DC output terminal: the device is provided with two sets of auxiliary DC voltage sources,
one of which is 110V, and the other is 220V and they can work at the same time;
Warning: Do not connect DC output with other output terminals.
Lead-in of external power adopts conventional 220VAC/50Hz for power supply. Please refer to Fig.
2.3.4.
Note: in order to ensure reliable grounding of device housing, lead-in wire of external power
shall be three-core power cord.
Attentions:
1) Lead-in of external AC/DC power to jacks of voltage
outputs (UA, UB, UC, UX, UY and UZ) or current
outputs (IA, IB, IC, IX, IY and IZ) of front panel for the
device is absolutely prohibited!
2) The device shall be grounded reliably! (Ground terminal
is positioned on right upper side of the cabinet)
3) Please do not plug and pull analog quantity connecting
wire of the device during test!
Warning:
In order to ensure safety, please do not detach any cover of
the machine body or try to contact the inside of the product.
If maintenance is needed, please contact authorized
maintenance personnel.
