Centre for Multimodal Knowledge Processing (CMKP)

CMKP is an inter-disciplinary centre focusing

on knowledge acquisition, representation, and modeling
in multimodal environment comprising text, speech, graphics, video, and music.
We offer the opportunity for full / part-time study for Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master degrees

INTELLIGENT INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA

http://fit.mmu.edu.my/sig/iim
IIM-SIG aims (1) to use science and Technology in
the aspect of enhancing the digital media content
in terms of interactivity and experience-base
digital media presentation, (2) to explore the use
of technology in media aesthetic as a prospective
research area, and (3) to study the user modeling
and usability issues for intelligent interactive
multimedia and multimodal processing.

GRAPHICS & VISION

http://fit.mmu.edu.my/sig/gv
GV-SIG aims to spearhead the state-of-the-art
research in Computer Graphics, Computational
Geometry, Computer Game Technologies, Imaging
Processing and Computer Vision. Fundamental
research in these areas is the main thrust, with
practical applications as motivations and goals.

NATURAL LANGUAGES PROCESSING

http://fit.mmu.edu.my/sig/nlp/index.html
NLP-SIG endeavours to conduct fundamental and
applied researches to supporting the development
of marketable natural language based products.
The group does research on Text Mining, Example
Based Machine Translation, Speech Processing,
Corpus Processing Tools, NLP Resources, and
Malay language processing.

DATA MINING AND MACHINE LEARNING

http://bayesiansig.synthasite.com/
DMML-SIG focuses on both theoretical foundations
as well as the applications of Bayesian and
probability reasoning in various domains such as
bioinformatics, data analysis, human computer
interactions, intrusion detection, user modelling,
etc.

INTEROPERABLE AND DISTRIBUTED

WEB TECHNOLOGIES
http://fit.mmu.edu.my/sig/idwt/
IDWT-SIG is interested in Semantic Web ontologies,
context-aware semantic tagging / folksonomy,
database query optimization, business intelligence,
data mining, knowledge management, and human
factors engineering.

NATURAL COMPUTATION AND COMPUTATIONAL

INTELLIGENCE
NCCI-SIG seeks to apply approaches inspired by
natural processes (self-replication, the functioning
of brain, group behaviour, the immune system etc.)
for the solution of problems. Both theoretical (new
algorithms, analyses, etc.) and applied
(implementations, applications, etc.) projects are
solicited.
