World Trade Centre (WTC)

More than a building or an organization, the World Trade Centre (WTC)

brings together business and government agencies involved in international trade,
provides essential trade services and stimulates the economy of the region it serves.
WTC puts all the services associated with global commerce under one roof and it's
address gives a business prime and continuous access to resources essential for
success in world trade. A World Trade Center in any city is a business shopping
center, complementing and supporting the existing services of private and
government agencies. A WTC offers its members and tenants a wide range of
facilities and services. Since WTC services are reciprocal, members can access
them at all operating WTCs around the world.

The World Trade Centre Mumbai is the realization of the vision of one
man, Dr.M. Visvesvaraya - Engineer, Scientist and a great son of India. Named
after him, M. Visvesvaraya Industrial Research & Development Centre
(MVIRDC), a non- profit company registered under the Indian Companies Act, is
the promoter of WTC.Established in 1970, MVIRDC is governed by a Council of
Management, comprising industrialists, representative from Central and State
Governments and Trade Promotion Bodies.

In 1971,MVIRDC received formal recognition as a World Trade Centre

by becoming a member of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), New
York. The World Trade Centre Mumbai offers a galaxy of services and facilities.
Centre 1, the 35-storeyed tower houses offices of organisations connected with
world trade, business and industry alongwith the executive offices of the World
Trade Centre. Under ' one roof ' you will find international representative offices,
export promotion councils, travel and cargo agents and financial institutions.
Centre 2, the 26-storeyed tower adjacent to Centre 1, has offices of the Industrial
Development Bank of India (IDBI), which has been supportive of the World Trade
Centre, right from its inception. ' The Arcade ' houses under one roof, a wide
variety of shops, showrooms and services. Several State Governments have set up
their Emporia, reflecting their cultural uniqueness and projecting the unity in
diversity, that is India. The Arcade also offers several professional services such as
banking, postal facilities and travel agencies. The products on display cover a wide
range, from carpets to herbal tea to readymade garments and jewelry. The Arcade
is a real Indian window to the world
