Setian Frame Rite

Adapted from “The Seven Faces of Darkness” by Don Webb

Preparations:
To be done during the night.
Set up an altar in the centre of
your temple with at least the
following items: A red lamp, a
symbol to represent your own
uniquely divine nature (Temple
of Set members often use an
inverted pentagram medallion),
four bricks to represent the
objective/physical universe. If
you are using this rite as the
framework for the working of
practical magick or a “spell”,
have the incantation written out
and place the paper [or
whatever] with the writing on it
(hereafter called the “papyrus”)
on the bricks.
Perform ceremonial cleansing of
the body and don your ritual
garb.
Light the red lamp.
The Initial Call: Turn to the North and visualize
the Seven Stars of the Big
Facing West, visualize a gigantic
Dipper. A dark Presence is
griffin which holds Osiris in his
behind them, vast and powerful:

“PAKERBÊTH, who gives
”ABLANATHANALBA, who
the sceptre of Djam called
holds Osiris in his paws, I call
„Giver of Winds‟, come to teach
you to slay stasis!”
me how to be reborn as a god!”
Turn to the South, visualize a
Facing North with your altar in
leopard standing by a waterfall
front of you, feel the energy
(or an Eye in the middle of a
spiralling into you. When you
storm cloud):
feel the energy of the Typhonic
“ERBÊTH, who causes Current of this world has reached
ideas to be born, I call you to its maximum, touch the symbol
quicken minds with ideas yet on your altar and say the Call to
unmanifest!” Set-Typhon:
Turn to the East, visualize an ass-
headed god holding iron knives:
“IÔ, who slays Apep,
come to drive illusion from my
mind and clear the way for the
Real!”
 “O mighty Sut-Hek, O Set-
Typhon, O mighty Bepon-
Beput-Bata, great in magic, I
have brought thy enemy Osiris
before thee in chains. I have
wandered through the hollow of
the cosmos OSORONOPHRIS
seeking to perform deeds to
your honour and my own.
Necessity requires I perform
this act of magic. Hasten
quickly, quickly from thy starry
solitude. I endeth thy exile. I
know thee Typhon, Python, Set,
IÔ APOMX, and You know Me.
“By your glance fresh
from Setheus, the secret place, I
Know my Unknown Soul. I
Remember myself at this
moment and my Soul is
Immortalized, carried through
the Seven Stars. In the Cycles of
Four, Seven and Nine do I bind
this world in the rope of magic,
create the kaw which sustain
my Will, and erect a tenemous
to my nous which liveth on with
the days of Set-Typhon!”
The Arrival of the Powers:
Allow power to stream into you.
Perform any action that you feel
symbolizes the taking in of
power.
Look at the things on your altar.
Invest them with meaning until
they glow with magical life.
The Spell or Incantation:
If you have a papyrus to read, do
so at this point.
The Closing:
To end the rite, send back the
energy which you have called to
your chamber, including the
additional energy created
during the rite. This energy does
your Will and adds to the
Typhonic stream.
First address Set-Typhon by
sending the initial streamer of
energy outward toward the Big
Dipper constellation:
“Oh Akh of the Seven
Stars, model of what I shall
become, receive this gift of
power. I praise thee Set-Typhon
and thank thee for reminding
me that I may act as a god while
still alive. I will increase your
Lore on the Earth and my Power
in the Heavens through constant
striving!”
Send energy to each direction in
reverse order, starting with
North:
“PAKERBÊTH, glorious
Nine of the North, cause the
stars you rule to be friendly to
me as I am your friend.”
In the East:
“IÔ, glorious Nine of the
East, cause each dawning day
to bring me further truths, as I
help you to slay Apep.”
In the South:
“ERBÊTH, glorious Seven
of the South, cause new ideas to
burn in me as I cause thee to
burn with Life.”
In the West:
“ABLANATHANALBA,
glorious Eight of the West,
make me steadfast in my
resolve as I establish you over
all of Osiris‟ domain.”
Touch your Head and say, “My
thoughts are made strong by
my Will.”
Touch your Heart and say, “My
feelings are made strong by my
Will.”
Pass your hand over the bricks
and say, “My world is made
strong by my Will.”
“What I have set in motion
will advise and test me.”
Extinguish the red lamp.
Break down the temple or set
things in order.
Final Notes:
Immediately engage in
something unrelated. Maintain
silence on the rite for at least 24
hours. After this period of silence
you should also record what you
remember of the rite and the
reasons for its performance in
your magical journal.
