Paul Shewan – Artist

All illustrations are samples of Paul’s work.

I am honoured to be able show this as an early work he did for me,

actually more as a favour as twenty years ago he didn’t charge me. His
talent and skill in airbrushing modern high quality, high resolution
work are a far call from the illustration of the cover, yet it speaks
volumes in its concept of nerves all coming from the brain, which
encompass the whole of the conscious being.

Thanks Paul

Chapter One

A letter of introduction
Dear Friend,

When I re-discovered by chance, that a book I wrote over nineteen years ago
was listed at Amazon.com – it fired up all sorts of memories and dreams
from my past that resulted from my authorship of Read Between the Lines. I
stated in the book naively. Your success was assured – since the very process
meant that you believed in your goals 100% from the beginning.
Well, 20 years on and 20 years wiser, I know that that the statement “Your
success is assured” is not accurate. It is easy for me as the author to write it –
and for it to be fuelled by writing it again and again, but where present, the
statement.
Your success is assured - which I agree is a key component to the whole
concept of Dynamic Id Perception
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ego_and_the_Id )
Has to come least some “Health and Safety” advice.
Simply because it is not fair to “drive” you to the sort of motivation I have
driven myself to in both the production of the original and this edition.
I could say - In my opinion – that your success is assured; I can even say
Health and Safety Warning! To believe that your success is assured may
include health risks, because it can get you so worked up, to work towards
your goal, that when you aren’t doing anything about it - it can make one
feel guilty. I talk in a later chapter about guilt and how to make it work for
you but by far the better way of dealing with “assuring you of your success,
has to come from the effort that you as an individual follow after reading this
book.
It is necessary to “believe that your success is assured, but in the same
breath, not to the detriment of your health. Like most reasonable things, it is
a matter of finding the right balance. I cannot give you, my reader the
guarantee of success. I can’t even give it to myself, I might get run over by a
bus tomorrow, and could I classify that as a success? Well, ok there are some
-1-
that may state that it is, since I will be making acquaintances with my
creator. For the main, I am writing this book for the living. I may have a
great following of interested entities that look over me, for all I know but I
wouldn’t know how to market to those guys.
So, I have decided to make a modified statement from the previous edition.
Providing it is humanly possible, and a realistic goal, then success is yours.
Unless you suffer with guilt in which case – take a step back and go and do
something else. Let’s face it; we are aiming at improving our life – not make
it worse.
When I came across the book on Amazon, something else stemmed from the
original idea however, that as a process of improving one’s ” lot,” this
process will definitely benefit some people. How much it helps you –
requires that you “read between my lines” learn from my experiences and
understand that the process is in all likelihood if used religiously at morning
and at night will change your life.
Incidentally the term Dynamic Id Perception sounds like a title that a
professional would dream up to try and make it sound more exiting than the
reality is. DIP is a simple process, whilst it is a real thing. In spite that it is
changing the attitude of your own belief system.
I am not clinically trained nor am I a professional in any matter relating to
the belief system. It is healthy to be aware of this and hearing it or reading at
the beginning of the book seems far healthier to me, than reading about it
later and wondering if you have been hypnotized or programmed in any way.
Yes, I believe that this is a process of self hypnosis to some degree and as
author, in the 1st edition I wrestled with the idea of how some people may be
as driven as I was when I came across it myself.
But in reality, I can now say that - at least for the first one thousand readers, -
That no one came to any harm or appeared to get “over” motivated by
anything that I had written. I was really worried that some people would get
into the frenzy that I allowed myself to get into after reading my book.
In fact I was so motivated that I phoned the local MP to tell him I had
discovered a process that would put an end to unemployment. Hmmm, I bet

-2-
he thought I was a “nutter.” To some extent I was as I hadn’t learned how to
apply the brakes to Dynamic Id Perception.
Well that was twenty years ago and now I know to mention this at the
beginning and not at the end. If you use this book to develop self motivation
in particular, make sure you also use it to relax as well.
At least heed the advice as using it when you absolutely cannot do anything
towards your goal and you are still highly motivated to do something
towards it.
You will develop your own techniques as time goes on and you reshuffle
different affirmations to accommodate your well being as well as your own
requirements.
Whilst I openly offer you the choice to be sceptic as to the 100% assurance
claim, I ask you to trust me that this process really works, that this process is
healthy and helpful. If practised routinely, over time produces the desired
results.
It also fired up an old dream that I had about how positive thinking and a
process I called at the time Dynamic ID Perception could make me some
money. Since I had sold out of the original print run, maybe I could “re-
ignite” it with the Amazon distribution and then “My success surely would
be assured” because then I would only need to advertise my product in front
of as many people as possible. I toyed with the idea of re writing it and
started to cut and paste from the 1st edition to the 2nd – After a week I had
jived a copy together for -minimal work- and I was ready to start thinking
about the money coming in again.
However, I couldn’t rest easy with myself and decided to halt everything and
analyse what I had started up again. I had begun to feel guilty if I wasn’t
doing anything towards my goal of writing the book or doing something
towards it. It was good for my motivation at the time, but it was also
relentless, in that there was little pay back until the whole thing had been
written, edited, published etc.
I had written the original from the perspective of learn as you do, so
obviously, by writing a book and gearing all my affirmations towards writing
a book – I succeeded. I ended up with a book as a product that I had created

-3-
myself, from scratch, with nothing more than a pen in my hand and paper on
which to write.
It was no good, I was going to have to rewrite from zero point - from a
perceptiveness of here and now – 20 years later on a lot of things have
changed. First of all, I don’t need a book to tell me how to think positively, I
can look up any number of such “How to” - get ideas – for example, on the
internet.
There are many things in life that I do not “need” but that make life more
pleasant for me. For my own pursuit, self affirmations in later chapters are
now rewritten to side step the more materialistic gains like visualising a Red
Jaguar, with a gleaming chrome fixtures and black tinted windows for
example.
In this 2nd edition I try to steer away from the materialistic gains that this
process benefits, since my goals now are different to twenty years ago. Now
I don’t need the money. Twenty years ago I was willing to try anything
within my limits to legally gain money.
So I am coming at it from a totally different perspective and with hindsight
of the 1st edition behind me. As the reader of just this edition, you have my
assurance that the main concept of the original is maintained within this
edition, but as you might imagine with twenty years more experience under
my belt, my style as much as my content has changed. I have arranged the
pages so that if you should want to print it out it will start a fresh chapter on
the right hand side. This leads to some blank pages. I decided to leave them
in so you can use to make notes or jot down ideas etc.

And so my friend, this letter ends and the book begins.

Chapter 2
Welcome to NOW
Now is a concept that can itself, be a paradox – to my eyes – since one can
shave down the experience of now into such a tiny slither of time that
actually – it is no time at all. Ok let me explain. A thought process, it takes x
many milliseconds to travel the nerves, reach the brain for the brain to
process the signal and for the result to be presented to the “owner.”
Consider our consciousness? We know it is there. Otherwise, everything is a
dream, everything. If the latter is true – then it is the case that none of us
actually “own” what we think is our own free will, and we therefore share a
higher conciousnce but since I am here and that since I am exercising my
own free will as far as I am aware, then I go with the former until proven
otherwise.
What I am trying to invoke in you currently, is a thought process that goes
further than the words I use. Use your own imagination to ponder the
concept that the word NOW represents.
On a nano scale – is it possible that we are all living ever so slightly in the
past? That everything that comes to us as humans comes to us through our
five senses, and by definition we know that it takes time to process our
senses. We say “ow” to a hot surface, or react to a situation sometimes with
lightening speed, but aren’t we also aware of another “now?”
If now is used as a measurement of time, it is relative. In other words, “now”
can mean, now we are all going out to a party. The “length” of now can alter
and be relative to the moment that it represents.
So, I am attempting to get you to imagine now NOT as a measurement of
time, but as an absolute. A fracture of time so small, that it no longer
represents a fracture of time. That it is instantaneous. “A knowing” like you
“know” that your arm is there.
Breaking down to the moment of experience is this state of mind that many
people use as a basis point for meditation and where I would like you to
consider reaching by you own relaxation or meditation technique. After a
while one doesn’t have to work hard at it to achieve, one can simply change
ones viewpoint by simply realising the concept.
-6-
This “instantaneous now” allows the complete relaxation from any
depression and from any anxiety. It’s a far fetched claim but having been
there I am actually qualified to make the claim.
If one goes further, imagine accepting now as a moment just passed, but that
you are a matter of nanoseconds away from processing the experience of
now. An area of measurement between the now you experience and the now
that can be measured is a matter for conjecture.
Our new now cannot be measured scientifically. Since measuring it, by
definition implies a quantity to measure in the first place. However, I know
that it exists, as I lived through it. I know from experience that some people
that will have read so far and thought what a load of baloney. To this end, I
ask that you continue to read this book in its entirety before acting or making
any decisions.
I am liable to come back to a point made earlier, later on in a different
chapter and I would like you to go away from this book with all its
information, not just some of it. Where possible, I will try to keep within a
Chapter.
In trimming this chapter to its minimalistic content, I don’t want to over do
the trimming. Sometimes I need to repeat something in a different way. My
original manuscript was over 800 (A4) pages for the 1st edition, which ended
up finally at 110 (B5) pages, this is not uncommon for authors I realise now
– but back then in my innocence of writing I hadn’t thought about the reams
of paper I needed to pay for and the publishing editing chopped it down
severely to a cost in the end.
I mention this at this point as at that time in my life, money (or the lack of it)
would have stopped me dead in my tracks if I had thought about it then. So I
just blanked out any thoughts of how I was going to afford to have the book
published and blindly carried on with writing.
The fact that I thought it was going to be about 800 pages long and it ended
up at only 110 was in fact just a part of my own learning curve. If I had been
able to deal with thought of the costs of the finished book, I could have
saved myself many hours of work. It’s difficult to imagine how difficult that
might have been for my readers to get through I realise now again in
hindsight.
-7-
Actually the cost to have a print run of a thousand books cost £2000 twenty
years ago. Nowadays, publishing in hard copy seems to me to almost be a
crime. I expect most of my readership to have computers and to be able to
download a copy. So with that in mind, to write a book is a lot cheaper to do
nowadays. With that in mind, I am still able to shear some more volume out
of this edition and leave my point with you. In the 1st edition I imagined
befriending my reader and wrote in a chatty, manner. Some of the things I
wrote I felt I needed to say at that time twenty years ago.

In the book then, I spent a lot of energy justifying myself and trying to
qualify every point I made. Believe it or not, now I have focussed more on
points and minimised further justification – I don’t have to convince myself
as the author that it works, while at the same time writing about it. Which I
was doing twenty years ago I know from experience it does work and it is
very powerful for me.
I have changed my style in this edition, so I can compact it more. I
understand that sitting at a computer screen is not the same as reading from a
book, its not quite as intimate in some ways, still, with enough of the right
material to plant a seed. Then to try and “germinate” it is, I expect, every
authors dream. It’s the words that I am using and stories that I am telling that
give substance to this process.
If I were to cut it down to just the process itself, I know that it just wouldn’t
work. You would pass it off as too obvious or too simple and at first due to
our conditioning.
When I started to using “dip” I thought this process might put one up for
some ridicule, but I was surprised that most people thought it was either
a) Nice to see that I was being positive.
b) Thought everybody did it anyway.
c) Didn’t believe in it.

The truth is that one ridiculed me but that was over sharing the process rather
than using it. His view was that I didn’t have the “right” to publish stuff
suggesting that my readers’ life is unsatisfactory; he missed the point
completely although I understand where he was coming from.
-8-
In hindsight, only close family members needed have ever known about it
but it affected me so profoundly, that I couldn’t stop myself sharing it. It
may in reality be a process that only the desperate or few individuals actually
use to its full potential. It doesn’t matter who uses this though, it still works.
It’s just priorities in life sometimes change and this is a guide on how to
bring about change.
It doesn’t mean that it has to be to rebuild from the ground up, the process is
highly personal to your own dreams and I encourage you to try. It may seem
false when you first actually use it. Making it a living process for you just
requires some basic foundation work though.
So to this extent please bear with me. I would like to be of service to you. I
am a real person and want thoughts for you to use. I don’t need to go on
about how glorious my life is at the moment. Nor do I need to beg you to try
it, to find out for yourself. I can’t make that decision for you. So there is little
point in me trying any harder. I can only ever be the sewer of the seed, I
cannot germinate the seed for you that is conception and as such takes two.
I would like to be remembered as a personality more than being the author of
a book. I think it goes both ways, that you as my reader get more out of the
book having an idea about the person behind the writing.
. . . Getting back “on message”. Take life as a continuous stream or flow of
now’s. Although stream or flow implies, movement, in fact the
understanding of living this way means that “time” has no value. In fact the
merest thought of moving on in time is a distraction from where I am trying
to express here. When one reaches the successful translation of the NOW
picture, now is such a tiny slither of measurement it becomes zero – but it
becomes all embracing as a whole big picture at the same time.
I have to say that, feedback from friends on this subject is this concept is
either understood, or not understood. For some it is nothing and for others it
is deeply profound.
Writing is an art which, by my standards does not always fulfil the pursuit of
100% communication. I know that, as much as I was worried about affecting
people, I know that no matter what I say, you can only realise how powerful
this is if you decide to do something with it.

-9-
So now is the reference point from where we can learn, as I have shown, we
can even learn about now. Even the word now can seem to take different
lengths in time to think the word. I mean was that thought your thinking
voice in your head saying now or was it a thought taken in a quantum
movement that occurred instantaneously by reading these words. I invoke
some thoughts hopefully.
Say to yourself now. Understand the moment and enjoy it. It is after all, fully
yours. Whatever happens, keep NOW in sight. Sometimes we can only do
one thing at a time towards our goal, that’s just how life is and keeping the
concept of what our “now” means to us is like a “safe zone”.
I have read books that try to encourage “getting out of your comfort zone” as
a way to progress change. This is almost opposite to my way of thinking. I
want you to be in your comfort zone when you are doing something towards
your dream. I want you to feel good about yourself and to encourage more
comfort in your life.
Understand that in the long run by using a little extra effort, it works out
positively. Making the effort fun is where the true benefit lays. Remember
now and be excited by living each now as it happens.

Chapter 3.
Changing our approach to life and our surroundings
Our own attitude can affect both our approach towards something and also
affect other people around us. We all affect each other in day to day living
even if we are not aware of it. We know that we are aware and effected when
we mutter “which side of bed did he/she get out of this morning?” Meaning
that we are aware that someone is grumpy or short tempered or similarly if
someone is tearful we often feel sad for them. We all know that laughing is
contagious.
These are the extremes of emotion, but we already use this skill in our day to
day reaction with others. Quite often it is not what is said, but HOW it is said
that makes a difference to the words being used. Sometimes NOT saying
something gives another signal for example that you want to be left alone
because you are busy on something else at the time. For the purpose of
progressing this further, I will label under headings good and bad.
I understand that all emotions have their rightful place in life and I am not
diminishing their value or really saying that one is bad as in evil or that
another is good as in heavenly, but for the sake of this book, good and bad
could be inter-switched with want and don’t want. If you are aware of these
times that are observed as bad attitudes, they can be overcome with a little
conscious effort in understanding.
A good attitude is a valuable asset. If we work on helping ourselves develop
a good attitude, which rubs off on people around us, we will gain more
friends and head nearer the route that offers respect as a reward.
Due to the fundamental affect that our attitudes have on others and as a part
of the human condition, we all react individually to certain things in set
ways. This is conditioning.
Conditioning and attitude seem to me to go hand in hand. We can condition
ourselves to deal with things differently as well as change our attitudes both
towards ourselves and towards others. We can, with practise and
understanding break some of our own conditioning. This is a useful skill for
scientists, who sometimes have to think of seemingly impossible concepts.

- 13 -
When a new breakthrough is discovered sometimes even belief has to be “re-
engineered”.
We are all vulnerable to conditioning but it is not outside of our own control
to look at and re-assess the way we condition ourselves. I will go into more
detail later concerning conditioning.
One cannot mention conditioning without mentioning ego.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ego
Ego and Id are interchangeable for our purposes, although my interpretation
of Sigmund Freud’s research is that, there is ego and super ego and Id is like
the container that encompasses all egos in all its different states.
I am aware of some of Sigmund Freud’s work and whilst I don’t necessarily
agree with some of his beliefs, the terms he uses are for our purpose a
necessity. I still have respect for the years of work he put into his career and
how he followed his belief.
Ego = consciousness of the self and of its development
(ID: another definition - Total of instinctive impulses, in the individual).
When you do your own affirmations’ later, you might find it helpful to know
that in my own mind, I am imagining arrival at our new zero value “now”
and I am focussing on my id – it is to “my ego” that I talk. (I will use Id from
now on as it technically correct – although I am actually “thinking” Ego as I
still prefer an ego boost over an Id boost) The terms are interchangeable here
and since I am still keeping to the same terms that I used in the original “Id”
will remain my terminology.
It is to my “id” that I appeal to in my affirmations, in other words, I am
making a conscious effort to express my dreams, my goals, to a part of my
brain or mind that I know is listening. Whether it is my subconscious, my
ego / id, is irrelevant, what is relevant is that I make the conscious effort in
the first place to offer my affirmations to my brain in a higher function. I will
come back to this in more detail later.
For our purposes I don’t think we need to make it any more complicated than
is necessary. For me, obviously as a part of my own research it’s all part of a
fascinating subject but I understand that for others it is not and in fairness we
do not need to go into great depths of Psychology. That is beyond the
- 14 -
capacity of this author and this book to explain. I am sticking to what I know
works.
Why it works need not be of a concern to me. There are many professionals
who have very successful careers being paid plenty of money to come up
with those answers.

- 15 -
- 16 -
Chapter 4
Your destiny awaits you.
Each and every one of us are individual, who experience life in our own
unique way and observe others from our own viewpoint.
Although we share our lives with other people every day and are
“conditioned” by attitudes around us, there is a point where we can all go to
in ourselves that is influenced only by our own subconscious.
How many times have you said to yourself “If only I could........?”
For you then, it’s only a matter of self-training that you require. It is
important that the attitude of strong individuality is recognised, as you are
going to communicate with and build upon yourself, projecting ideas into
your own immeasurably complex mind, to the subconscious you, who is
different from any other individual, using a quality that is unique to you.
As you are a reader of written guidance, you already have one quality which
is to your advantage; a quality that in this day and age most people possess.
It is, obviously, the ability to read. Well, I say “obviously”, but there is
reading and there is reading!
The “quality” in reading isn’t simply over the words it is the absorption of
concepts therein - reading and “hearing” what is being written – Even trying
to read between the lines, to understand my point. Making the whole process
individual to you is what will make the concept come alive for you in a way
that is important to you.
Let’s move on.
Later in chapter 4 I talk in a bit more detail regarding getting your “routine”
together. This will achieve a number of things.
a. It will confirm that your desires are still “valid”.
b. It will strengthen your belief that your desires can be achieved.
c. Your “subconscious” mind will be receiving positive
information, and in doing that...
d. Will be feeding your “id” making the process and progress go
effectively deeper each day.
- 17 -
e. It will give you a sense of commitment, or dedication, towards
your own goal(s)” and develop self motivation.

This stage consists of studying and doing research for the avenues towards
your achievements. Making notes about how you are going to plan and act
upon your goals. Lists will be a part of this process inevitably at the
beginning however as you progress and you are into your routine the need
for lists will not be as numerous as they are likely to be at the beginning of
the process, when the concept is still new to you.
I have always gone for my dreams. When I was still in school I wanted to be
a stuntman and was always diving around dramatically as if I had been shot
or blown up. However achievement was difficult, not the sort of job one goes
down to the local job mart to find after all.
By the time I had left school I had forgotten the childhood dream and was
channelled to go into engineering. This I did, going into an apprenticeship
three years out of four, when I left because I remembered that this was not
what I wanted to do at all.
Up to and including those three years in the apprenticeship, I was more
influenced by the people around me. The people around me couldn’t
understand how seriously I visualised my goals; how my ideas could work
all the time I wanted them enough. It wasn’t enough for any of them to
believe that such a job would exist.
Yet, that summer I started up my own company called World Wide Stunts. I
successfully hired myself and equipment out all over the world for a glorious
seven years.
Previous to that time, I was allowing myself to be swayed from my real
desires, by the attitudes of others, achieving all that others expected of me,
but not realising my own goals fully. Only when I returned from yet another
tour, did my friends see I was not just a dreamer.
Dreams are the most important “facts” that I want you to focus on presently.
I know you have got dreams because you have responded to my
advertisement - you have already made a positive move towards achieving
your goals.

- 18 -
If you are not able to “take in” what I am talking about at the first reading,
please take a fresh look at that particular part, as a reminder, and together
with the accumulation of the rest of the book, it will become much clearer,
and hopefully a guide referred to for many happy years to come.
If you know a person that might be interested in this book and it doesn’t suit
your needs, please consider giving or selling it to them. Paying for the book
is actually a part of the whole process, it is the hard cash investment that
makes one more likely to actually read it and use it to ones advantage. I
know I make a profit as well of course, the book is in your possession, it
feels properly “your own” when you buy something. I know from my own
experiences that this works.
I know that people who act on the impulse of now, to do something and to
start to get an improvement plan or moving towards getting a routine
together, that your destiny is going to go along the path of your dream and
goals.
However, I will do my best to go ahead in steps which are self-explanatory.
You need to believe nothing as yet; but do not DISBELIEVE that this
technique really can work for you. It is this technique that I call dynamic id
perception.
You can call it Dream plan or anything else you want. I do not hold rights of
this concept. It is a well known and well rehearsed process. Like the man
giving the money away in candid camera, is almost unbelievable though that
such a simple process can have so much power.

- 19 -
- 20 -
Chapter 5.

DYNAMIC ID PERCEPTION (D.I.P.)

– DYNAMIC - Because it is (Changing, has energy, is powerful).
– ID - From the definition- Total of instinctive impulses in the
individual
– PERCEPTION - Act or faculty of perceiving through the intellect or
the senses. Intuition, insight.

I didn’t wish to create a book of “grandiose” titles to baffle all and sundry,
but this particular title is an attempt to summarise years of my own self-
search and experiences.
You are already aware that you are being handed a considerable shortcut to
the means of making your dreams come true. This title is a necessary link to
understanding all that it stands for to me.
For practicality I’ll initialise the title to D.I.P. (which ironically, could just as
easily stand for Developing and Improving Potential). We all have potential.

Success.
To help understand success, it may help by understanding failure!
These can be simplified grossly into four categories recognised as follows:-
– Failure 1. This is the person who knows what he wants, but believes
he can’t achieve his goals. Precisely detailed goals and lack of drive
towards them.
– Failure 2. This person tries very hard, but hasn’t defined his true
goals. Strives for perfection. No precisely detailed goals but uses
every asset.
– Failure 3. This person lacks ambition, and motivation. No precisely
detailed goals. Lack of drive towards formulating them.
– Failure 4. This person has goals, works hard, but feels guilty when
asking to be paid for his service or goods.

- 21 -
In case you are wondering, I recognise my own place in this structure,
number two. Twenty years ago.

Routine
Establishing a routine and how to present your affirmations
When I first started writing this book, I found it helpful to begin with the
following statements, that later became a strong foundation upon which to
build my routine. So head your goals with .......
Every time that I use the methods laid out in this book for self improvement,
I find it easier to apply, free of any anti-progressive thoughts and with an
open mind as to what my future holds for me. I chase my ambition free of
any prejudice or animosity towards other people.
I am a bright, friendly, well-liked person. I am assured of my success, my
friends help me when I need, and I help them, without the need for reward. I
take each minute as it comes, each second if necessary.
I have thrown away the failure mind of my infancy, using each NOW that
arrives, as an opportunity to improve my destiny ....... and follow these
statements with your own goals.
DEFINING YOUR TARGET (YOUR GOAL)
Start with “short-term” goals to begin with as a cautionary measure. Taking
each day as it comes; as you achieve each goal, set a new one - each goal
being higher than the last. I did that, and developed goals that were really
worth going for! As I am pursuing a goal to enable me to devote more time
to my love of writing, I can afford to give you all the information that you’ll
need to start making your dreams come true.
The only limitation is that your dreams are humanly attainable. In other
words, I can help you towards goals that are realistic for a human being to
achieve. I can’t help you, if your dream is unrealistic, e.g., to fly through the
air unaided. If a human being can attain it, it’s a realistic goal.
We’ve established that you already have dreams to improve your life
because you responded to my advertisement. Now you will start making
more progress, as it is time to begin using Dynamic Id Perception, yourself.
Your initial point is to develop your dreams. What you also need to learn
now is to develop an attitude that is positive to help achieve this you will
find it easier to list your goals out, clearly and descriptively.
- 23 -
In other words not just that “I want to improve” but –for example “I am
calm, content and pleased with my own inner world. I share my best sides
with those around me. I am capable of anything that I put my mind to and I
do not rely on the opinion of others to bring my goals within my reach. The
whole idea is to really “visualise” the end result. The purpose of this is to
help make your goal a “visible” goal. If you really consciously believe in
something, I have found that the subconscious just takes your word for it.
The subconscious aids in the building of the picture and by making it into a
realistic picture, whether you are laying on a beach on an island of paradise,
take it further and find out where that place is, make it as real to yourself as
you can in your imagination.
For me, twenty years ago, it gave me the sense of working towards a very
definite target and kept me studying, working and writing, knowing other
people would benefit as well, using the same simple method.
When you write your goals down, write them in present form (that is - as if
you already have them).
For example – I wanted to be a stuntman. When I imagined being a
stuntman, which I often did, I was actually there, on sets of movie makers
with actors milling around and buildings all around. I imagined groups of
technical professionals handling anything from lighting and cinematic to
explosives and makeup. I could see the cars that were going to be used and
became completely absorbed in my imaginative world. That was before I had
even discovered what I was doing.
When I took a step back to analyse the processes of my own success twenty
years ago and following my seven years globe trotting, was when I realised
that it is something that we all do most of the time. Sometimes, through no
fault of our own, we get battered into submission from attaining our personal
goals due to our conditioning and practical responsibilities.
This may seem a peculiar act, but it has a functional purpose. The sub-
conscious mind, unlike the conscious mind, isn’t a logical filing system that
judges within “boundaries” or “limitations”. As organising your goals is the
foundation on which to build your future, here are a few questions that will
help you make your goals right from the start.

- 24 -
1. Is this a goal you really want? (Or is it just something that you think
is “expected of you” to achieve?
2. It must be something you really, REALLY want a lot.
3. Are any goals contradictory with each other? For example wanting a
£750,000 house with a salary of £20,000 a year.
4. Would your goals cause disagreements with your family? (If they are
a part of your dream involve them in the process, if possible)
5. Have the goals been written in present form, as if you already have
them, and positively worded?
6. Have you written the goals so that you can visualise them in complete
detail?
7. Can a human achieve this?
8. Have you set your aims high enough? (This question is really the
most important one, relating to your goals, and it is the last chance
you have of understanding the need to obliterate your old conditioned
self.)
Don’t use your dreams to put a lid on your capabilities. Stretch yourself. Go
for the furthest things possible. There’s an old saying that I’ll put in here for
you to consider - “The obscure we see eventually, the completely apparent
takes longer.
You cannot be so broadminded that your brains fall out”.
Have the personal qualities needed to achieve your success been included?
Incidentally, as it’s not so easy to actually bring to mind abstract things that
you may wish to include in your list of goals, I have added a list of
intangible qualities which are helpful and used by many successful people.
Copy any from my examples as they are written, or use them to help prepare
your own. In the following chapter.

Chapter 6.

Step 1
List of Personal Qualities
Concentration
I work always on tasks that are important, to me. When I am involved with a
project, I give it my utmost concentration. I focus my thoughts and become
absorbed with what I am doing. Nothing can distract me when I am
concentrating.
Efficiency
I use time whenever I can to maintain constructive results. I always see my
projects through to the end in the shortest time possible and with minimum
energy. Courage I face all my problems head on therefore solving them with
increasing ease.
Self-assurance
I am free of self-doubt; I am relaxed. I am positive in any situation and with
anybody. Self-respect I have complete respect for myself and my ambitions.
I have a calm, calculated approach in all I think and do. I am capable of
great achievements equal to the best of men.
Endurance
I always persevere and see a task through to the end. Honesty I am honest
with myself and am therefore honest with other people. Speech I am a very
capable speaker, at ease in front of any group. My subject has been well
prepared and logically presented, or my subject knowledge is complete and
my desire for other people to hear it is intense.
Organisation
I am always systematic in every aspect of my life. My organisation is a
process of methodical planning that ensures I always have information to fall
back on.
Creativity

- 27 -
I create ideas and new approaches to any project in hand. Creativity is an
enjoyable product of my personality. I apply creativity to attain impetus
towards my destination. My creative powers back up my beliefs and feature
endless resources. All my problems give me the opportunity to be highly
creative, making my life more fulfilling.
Energy
I have a liberal pool of energy, which I can draw upon as and when I like. I
know that the more energy I apply to any one project, the more I have to
apply to the next. I start with inspiration and my energy is developed with
continuous practice, or my energy is limitless and I call upon it freely, I
realise that I have to use it, in exchange for everything that I obtain, being
aware that the more I use, the more I get.

Increasing Self Value and Qualities

I enthusiastically search to improve every aspect of my life and know the
better I develop my attitude the bigger the rewards. Memory I always seek to
increase my recall capacity, not only for experiences that I am presently
involved with, but for all aspects of my life in general.
Reading
I have an excellent reading technique being able to absorb, integrate and
retain knowledge from any literature I enjoy reading.
Emotions
I release all my emotions, showing them easily to myself and other people.
If I am sad I cry. If I am angry I show it. Happy, I show that. This ability to
show my feelings are useful and a sign of maturity.
Relaxation
I can relax in any routine situation or otherwise as deeply as I desire to do so,
using the word relax as a key. I use this to safeguard my energy.
Decisiveness
My decisive qualities are made quickly and effectively; I always make the
right decision when I am acting upon accurate and complete information.

- 28 -
Self-liking
I am always pleased with my behaviour and like myself very much. My
targets are set high enough to motivate continuous efforts towards reaching
them. My self improvement continually progresses because of my efforts. I
reach my goals fast and competently by declaring them positively each
moment that I have.
Maturity
My maturity benefits people around me. I search even greater development
in myself.
Foresight
I work with intelligent anticipation, and take care about the future. I possess
foresight because I have the ability to visualise and plan towards my goals.
Composure
My composure is kept at all times. When people disagree with me I accept it
calmly, in good spirit. I realise arguments are an unavoidable development
when groups of people come to grips with the process of solving problems.
Interest in People
I enjoy meeting and communicating with people. My honesty of mind and
intention puts people at ease and produces vital energy for their confidence.
As we are all individuals each person has some unique quality. Therefore,
meeting people adds richness to my own life.
Success in Finishing
I strive continuously to give the best I can and take pride in my work.
Success is my greatest reward. I always give more than I am paid for, so
ultimately get paid for more than I give.
Quality in Work
I take pride in a job well done. I can do simple things perfectly; more
difficult things are done easier as I have the patience to develop my skills.
Motivation

- 29 -
I have increasing motivation, starting tasks as they make themselves evident.
I start enthusiastically with each task every day. Other people rely on my
ability to inspire their own motivation and people are essential to my
success. I successfully give people all the training they need to do my job.

Self-training
I know that successful people read. I read and study books, papers and
magazines to increase my earning ability and knowledge.
Inner Peace
I am free of agitation. I have a calm attitude. I am cheerful with myself and
others.

- 30 -
Step 2.
ROUTINE CONDITIONING
In the days before I’d taught myself to recognise the importance of routine, I
found that things weren’t progressing enough to keep my interest. So I
consider that routine is important particularly in the initial stages, and should
be adhered to. As you start and accept these principles, you will become
clearer as to what your dreams can offer you - and you have nothing to lose
by trying. It really is rewarding!
You’ll find out that it works. Now, as I do every day, get into the routine of
making a positive effort and saying your own goals out loud to yourself
every morning when you get out of bed to start your day and again when you
retire to your bed at night. It doesn’t take long before you start feeling true
achievement.
The Infinite Subconscious Databank.
We are all aware of the capabilities that our conscious mind has, being able
to make decisions is a part of this observation. It is our conscious mind that
makes a logical judgement or - taking it further - decides whether something
is logical or not.
The subconscious, though, makes no such evaluation and surprisingly few
people consciously utilise the quiet work that the listening subconscious does
for us.
I mention read aloud to yourself above because if yours ears hear your voice,
the subconscious has to listen.
LET THE SUB-CONSCIOUS MIND WORK FOR THE REAL YOU
NOW
This is a part of the book that glances at past bewilderment in my life. It was
written entirely by strength built from emotional experiences. The scale and
magnitude of emotions that came to the fore was extreme and in need of
medical treatment or “guidance”. (I mention this in this book, because I used
to feel very inhibited before I stood up to the true potential of the mind. I felt
that I was missing something.

- 31 -
I know now that it wasn’t that I was “missing” something, it was just that I
couldn’t “see” it - “perceive” is a better word. The ‘it’ to which I refer, I
found and for the first time by using d.i.p. I express strongly, religious
undertones, since one suddenly discovers that belief is a palpable force.
Before I used d.i.p. I was a sceptic and now suddenly I found it worked.
I’ll go no further than mentioning these undertones, though, because of the
similarity between contact with the subconscious mind and spiritual
communication. Both are an “unknown” entity, both can be lived with
experience of or without.
Having created “worries” to the point that I dared not even close my eyes,
because of the extreme things I went through each time, has given me an
insight into the mind that I simply cannot explain accurately enough.
However, what I do know is that the subconscious mind is an extremely
versatile “organ” (for want of a better word), that we take for granted.
But it listens. Your subconscious mind works for you past consciousness,
without limitation. An example of this is when you are in a conversation and
the name of someone or something is “just out of reach” or “on the tip of
your tongue”. How many of us say “I know it”, then go on to say “It’ll come
to me later”.
Then at a later point, when you are getting on with something totally
different, sure enough “Rumpelstiltskin” pops into your mind. (Sometimes
it’s days or even weeks later although it can be moments) - your
subconscious mind had been given a task or instruction. It took the order
quietly away from your conscious mind, enabling you to continue the daily
routine without further distraction from a “niggling” problem.
I don’t know whether the subconscious works continually on it “behind the
scenes” from the moment that the task is apparent or sits in “standby” mode
until it can apply energy to it in one momentary slither of time, or even
whether it sorts the problem out immediately, but doesn’t “transmit” the
answer to the conscious mind at that time.
The important thing, though, is that it happens. It works. What’s more, it is
triggered by your own statements.

- 32 -
This works in both negative and positive ways, e.g., if you say “I will never
understand”, you’ll probably find this heavy going.
If you say “I understand more and more as I read further”, you will gain
much more.
The very fact that I have chosen to believe that enables me to apply positive
suggestions and ideas to myself. Then forget them knowing that my
subconscious mind will deal with them. That doesn’t make me irresponsible
or indecisive, quite the reverse in fact - writing this particular book, for
instance.
At first I was saying I didn’t have enough time, but once I really WANTED
to do it, I MADE time, while working normal full-time hours in my other
business.
Once you’ve learned to apply the right attitude, and can “see” the success
you are already halfway there. This procedure is used by at least one
successful millionaire, whose words were simply “TRY IT. It worked for
me. Remember, your success is assured. The success of Dynamic Id
Perception is in the practice of its techniques. I have proved to myself that
D.I.P. is a very powerful creation and my responsibilities go beyond the
short-term future, obviously, as a writer, I would like you to use my book for
guidance towards making your life better.
All I will say here is just practice the technique towards improving the
personal aspects religiously. After all, successful people open their mind’s
eye and your success for the future depends on having clearly defined
outlines as to where, when, and how to apply your new-found energy. I write
this because it is difficult in the capacity of “teacher”, to know the intensity
that your “pupils” will apply to achieving their goals.
It is an easy mistake to let the thought of materialistic goals override the
importance of successful personality - i.e., money doesn’t necessarily make
life easier, but your personality is a permanent asset. It really is up to you, to
throw away the old infancy failure complexes and get everything you really
want out of life. Those old failings are bound to keep cropping up through
your life - after all, you’ve been living with them for a fair time.

- 33 -
The incentives are there and I am creating opportunities for others to develop
the full realisation of their ideas. The power of Dynamic Id Perception grows
with understanding. My creative subconscious builds on the power of self-
suggestion and develops as I apply my ideas.
The more I apply my ideas, the easier it becomes to visualise in my mind’s
eye the things that I study. Therefore I am assured of my success in all that I
apply D.I.P. to. When all steps through this book have been read, studied,
visualised and acted on, success is my reward.

- 34 -
Question
Can we improve on this technique once the decision has been made to try it,
so doing, getting maximum efficiency in shorter time?
Answer Yes; there are times when we are more receptive to the powers of
self-suggestion. Once we strongly visualise our goals, be they to see
yourself in your new “successful image”, or whether they be to increase your
earning capacity. In fact, whatever your goals are, and you have disciplined
yourself to mentally visualise them twice a day, your subconscious mind
recalls the goals with increasing reality. The reason that the suggestion is
written as it is, in detail and as already achieved becomes more apparent
here.
With ever increasing reality, after a while, at key times, when you are more
receptive, (just dozing off, relaxing in the bath or just prior to falling asleep
at night) you can shorten your goals to key words that will automatically
bring your detailed goal to mind. “Dream house” for example, thus giving
you more time to apply the subconscious mind to other things or newer
goals. You should still “re-kindle” your subconscious with the full detailed
list of goals regularly, but the need to “re-kindle” becomes less as you begin
to take each goal for granted The relaxation technique further on gives a
good mood, suitable for speeding up self-suggestion concerning personal
qualities, or simply relaxing.

S T E P 3.
STUDYING AND RESEARCH
Understanding that the measure of my success depends on giving as much
information or giving as good a service as I possibly can, the need for
finding out and learning becomes more apparent. If reading and studying
becomes a tedious task, you may find the following additions to your daily
declarations useful:-
I understand I have to read. The more I read the more I understand. Reading
always brings a new fascination to light, so doing broadens my knowledge.
My broadened knowledge helps my life in all aspects.

- 35 -
I strive to seek new knowledge all the time. How else, other than by reading
could I have discovered the concepts within these pages.
In order that I learn, from knowledge I have gained, I must “study” what I
read. The more I read, the stronger I become, gaining more and more
enthusiasm towards my goals. As I discover new information my ability to
make educated decisions from a wiser standpoint becomes more apparent.
By enjoying reading, I am able to gather information at my own pace and
realise that by enjoying all I do, even tedious tasks, I am rewarded
continuously with satisfaction for a job well done.

SELF EVALUATION

This company offers a kit online for personal evaluation. I recommend

unilever.com since they are specialists and it will enable me to trim this
chapter, cutting out the tests that I originally added. Since I wrote the 1st
edition a decade ago, the subject has moved on dramatically and there are
many aspects that will be far better used by those who have the relevant
software and training.

This is the first time in this book that I have deliberately cut a substantial
amount out of its original content and it makes me feel better being able to
hand self evaluation to a third party, since it protects the relationship
between you and me.

It could appear that I am being judgemental by asking a self evaluation

question and giving an answer which in your circumstances may need to be
completely different.

A decade ago there was not the software that is available now and the
science has grown remarkably. If you have never done a self evaluation test,
it’s a fascinating experience and fun to.

It can almost be like going to a clairvoyant or medium in some aspects. I am

still amazed myself how so much about me can be accurately presented to
me, my moods, my behaviour, areas and skills that I have, how things affect
me, how others perceive me, my suited jobs.

- 37 -
All manner of things about one can be discovered these days, as although we
are individuals, when enough data is available there are certain patterns and
types of personalities that can be explained by the answers given to
particular questions.
These are often multiple choices and ask for an opinion on a sliding scale.
For example, tick a box, 1 to 10, 1 being I disagree strongly and 10 being I
agree strongly. I am sure you have seen the sort of thing.

It’s not like a maths test or tax return. It is straight forward. After all it has to
accommodate the input of anyone at any level of social or intellectual status.
One doesn’t have to do a self evaluation. It is however important if you are
starting from scratch with not an idea in your head, as the results themselves
can often be both inspiring and surprising.

I feel a bit strange leaving this chapter as it is, because it is a major part of
the book, but as I said earlier, I expect my reader to have a computer, so it
should not be any hardship to follow the link. Once there I think you will
realise that I have made the right decision and understand that I couldn’t do
the subject justice. My purpose is to plant the seed to get you motivated to
look at the site and benefit better.

It is necessary to glance at ourselves with honesty at the forefront, so as we

can determine whether we are doing the right thing.

It is common that many people, through the judgement of others, value

themselves at a mere fraction of their true capability. A friend of mine said
recently "I'm just a building labourer; I could have been worth a lot more if I
had gone to college and studied." Well, that's true in one sense, but as an
individual (and as a friend) no "price" can be placed upon him; he lives his
life with determination, dedication and high morale. Boundaries of income
have become his rule of self-value and the sheer fact that he is actually able
to do such physical work, taken for granted. (Editors note – twenty years
later he is a network manager).

The sort of self-evaluation that I am writing about here isn't our earning
capacity. It is how we see ourselves. Humble, with the need for leadership,
- 38 -
responsibilities and ambition held by our fellow men (or women). Or,
strong, assertive, and willing to seek further information or education,
towards a route that will earn respect.

Having said that, I respect many labourers, a lot of the physical work is -
literally - back-breaking, and a labourer doesn't give in to the pain, until the
job is done. My friend knew, that by adopting the right attitude his routine
"work out", pays not only his wages but his evaluation scores high, knowing
he is fighting fit. Anyway, with self-evaluation being another important basis
to work from, and a fundamental cause for the way we present ourselves to
other people, let's proceed.

The main thing with self-evaluation is to tackle it light-heartedly. Following

I present a few questions now to give you a flavour of the sorts of things that
self evaluation cover, but I would be pleased for you to go to the link at the
start of this chapter or to Google self evaluation.

1. To what degree do you feel in control of your life?

2. In any given situation, how able are you to discuss a matter?
3. What percentage of the time do you have something to be cheerful
for?
4. How positive are you?
5. In times of agitation, how patient do you remain?
6. How comfortable do you feel in a roomful of people with conflicting
views to your own?
7. Your emotions are immeasurably important in your communication
with others. To what extent do you believe this?
8. To what extent do you really want your ambitions to succeed?
9. How effective are your powers of persuasion towards:
Yourself; People around you?
10. How sure are you that by working hard, your rewards will be worth
your efforts?

LEADERSHIP
1 Should childless people have to pay school education fees as
part of their rates?
- 39 -
2 Do I consider that I have the ability to communicate
reasonably well with other people?
3 Would I prefer to have to look up to others than have people
dislike me?
4 Should I attempt to see other people's thoughts before giving
my own views?

INTELLECTUAL EFFICIENCY
1 1 Do I read at least one book each month?
2 If I am faced with an obstacle do I overcome it on impulse?
3 Am I interested in the sciences?
4 Does a tutor often set too high a target for his students to attain

AMBITION
1 Do I always attempt to give more than the reward is worth?
2 Is preparing activities beforehand likely to take the enjoyment
out of them?
3 Do I believe there are some advantages in being a poor man
over being rich?.
4 Did I enjoy my creative work being on display in front of my
fellow pupils at school?

RESPONSIBILITY
1 If a manufacturer is overpricing a product, do I think he
deserves to be on the make, while the going's good?
2 Do I think each family owes it to the community to maintain
the overall tidiness of the neighbourhood?
3 Is it the right attitude to hold, feeling that as we have taken
care of ourselves, we should expect everyone else to take care
of themselves?
4 Should I have ill feelings if I do not vote in political elections?

FAITH IN SUCCESS
1 Are there fewer opportunities nowadays than there used to be?
2 Do I doubt which route will gain me the most respect for my
efforts in work?
- 40 -
3 Do I feel that one day I will be an important person and will
make a real contribution to the world?
4 Do I feel threatened by being in competition with someone
else?
If you are in a position where the need to do something positive towards a
better future is a reality, then this book, being the result of just that, proves
that by spending a few hours each day, a result can be achieved from
channelling those goals along positive routes.

If though, anxiety is becoming an issue by your new "go for it" hobby, idea,
or project, then forget it. If you are losing sleep due to it, step back from it
for a day or two. Have a break from it. Go and do something totally
different. Your idea will be there later should you decide to come back to it.

Chapter 8.

RELAXATION

Relaxation is, for me, a fundamental therapy. (I like to think of it as a base

instinct forgotten by many members of society.)
With a calm, relaxed approach, your efforts and attitudes can be dealt with
much more effectively, and with relief from stresses and anxiety clouding
your way.

As there are so many books on different relaxation techniques, I would

suggest it to be a worthwhile cause to dig a book or two on relaxation out of
the library. And because relaxation and its therapeutic qualities are a study
in their own right, I will only give you here a short and effective technique,
without going into too much detail.

I do feel it helps especially after days when I have had to find a way to calm
down from a particularly hard day, or times that my 'striving' towards
ambition creates too much tension for me to be able to co-ordinate the steps I
need to take, without getting anxious or uptight.

This technique can also be used to lower the state of conscious mind and
allow a firmer "deep suggestion" to the subconscious. So, its use is two-fold.
The following method should be read through completely before being tried,
and re-read SLOWLY for best results when using it.

1 Find somewhere quiet, where you will not be disturbed, or if

you can't do that, go and lie on your back on your bed or on the
floor. Remove your footwear and make yourself comfortable.
I suggest that a pillow or cushion is placed underneath the legs,
behind the knees, and the same comfortable support given for
the head. Place your arms beside you so that they are not
touching any other part of you. If you're sitting, place your
arms on the arm-rests. Keep your legs uncrossed and resting
comfortably.

- 43 -
2 With your eyes closed, think of the word "relax", ask your
subconscious for calm. Take your time. Sense the total
stillness. Be aware of your body from your own "universe" of
senses and nerve endings.

3 Hold your breath for as long as you can; when you cannot any
longer, let the air expel from your lungs at a nice, slow, steady
rate. Think "calm down" to yourself, and maintain slow and
steady breathing.

4 Start to become conscious of your toes, and without moving

any other part of your body, tense your toes, as if you were
trying to grip a pencil with them. Feel the tension in the back
of your toes. Hold them tightly tensed for about 5 - 10
seconds, and then relax them. Feel the tension being released
from them. Say out loud "Relax". Feel the difference between
tension and release of tension.

5 Become aware of your ankles. Stretch your feet downwards,

as if pointing your toes. Really point your feet and feel the
tension around the back of your ankles and calves. Holds the
positions for 5 - 10 seconds, then relax, letting your feet "flop"
to their comfortable position. Feel the tension go and sense the
calm and relaxed muscles in your calves.

6 Next, start to be conscious of your thighs and hip joints. Lift

both legs together so that you can just feel your stomach
muscles taking the strain and arc your legs from the hips
upwards to a point where that straining passes. (Probably
somewhere near vertical.) Now lower your legs again, as
slowly as you can without hurting, being aware of the "weight"
of your legs. Let your legs flop to the bed and feel the tension
flowing away and calmness absorbing your body.

- 44 -
Follow Steps 1 - 6 above, through your fingers by making a fist and relaxing,
wrists, elbows, arms, shoulders, neck and facial features, using the
alternating tensing/relaxing exercises.

When you have been through these steps lay motionless for a while, sensing
the bed (or floor) pushing gently against your body. Let the vision you have
with your eyes closed, whatever it is, take its own course. Look at the space
from behind your eyelids effortlessly in the same way as one absorbs the sun
when sunbathing. Once your mind starts drifting, allow it to do so for several
minutes. In the 10 so minutes so that this exercise is being done, let time slip
away.

Just be aware of now and what you are feeling and “seeing” with your eyes
closed, as each "sensor" becomes aware of these relaxing and calming
experiences.

When you have reached a state of mind that feels close to being able to fall
into sleep, feeling totally relaxed, you are openly receptive to self-
suggestion.

At this time you can make a deeper suggestion, maybe talk yourself through
on a tape recording, and add your ABSTRACT qualities that you wish to
improve on, and add "I am able to relax in any situation, and feel calm and
cheerful.

I enjoy NOW and am grateful to experience life. Each now brings a new
opportunity for me to take as a challenge. When I wake in the morning I feel
refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

I do not recommend deep relaxation as a method to detail your business

goals! For this reason - although you will find it easier to visualise your
dream, it is contradicting the principles of relaxation. Deep relaxation leads
to inner peace, and as such, materialistic goals are distractions. However, I
know from my own experience that materialistic goals are just as achievable
obviously, for me, this book is the result. Well, people keep saying to me
there is a book in everyone, so you can do it just as well as I.
- 45 -
I think again in hindsight that this is where I personally became very anxious
and guilty if I wasn’t doing something towards the final goal. I think that the
affirmations that one makes when in a deeply relaxed state are far better for
the soul if they are kept to the non materialistic statements. After all, you
will be able to focus your visualisation and dream in the normal everyday
way for your materialistic goals. And as you now already know, that is easy.

Chapter 9.

GUILT AND FEAR

If they haven't done anything wrong, why do honest people still feel guilty?
Self doubt? Can't believe they ARE that honest? Don't understand other
people? Feel they have too many problems? Worried about the sheer size of
the market, but can't get started? Whether to go public, because of the
impact it will have? Many of the complexities that go together towards the
way we deal with decisions in our lives can be simplified and overcome with
the knowledge that we have improved ourselves and have the hidden talent
of D.I.P.

If you've got a guilt complex, there are always people around who are happy
to help you, to a point. But it's up to you to help yourself in the end. It is a
struggle, which is why I don't say it's an easy way to becoming rich, but that
doesn't mean it won't be easier for you.

I believe that we all feel guilty, sometime, about something, and need to
appreciate proportionately that if the source causes for guilt are still being
fuelled, we will need to look deeper. That is beyond the realms of this book,
but there are references at the end of this edition that can help or if not help
point you towards the right place to find support in any matter dealing with
extreme guilt or extreme fear.

Fear is a strange emotion and again, twenty years ago I have had to tackle all
my self-generated fears in an unstable state of mind. Don’t forget, I needed
to come back from a complete nervous breakdown over twenty years ago
and this book is the result of process I used to start from scratch. Although it
is twenty years later, I can still see the value to the process and I can see how
it can benefit people from all walks of life.

This book was produced through my recovery and ending in the acceptance
of some very bizarre experiences; I having faced them all, even near death
experiences but now looking back, with an advanced state of achievement.
- 47 -
I don't fear the scale of fear, simply because I live with its knowledge and
don't question it. I accept it. When it boils down to it, we are all in the same
boat, losing possession of something very precious to ourselves can be
frightening, but I know from personal experience that fear is only big whilst
you fight it.

Often, I have found that once I recognise a fear overcoming it is the same
process:

1. ACCEPT.

2. RELAX.

3. NOW. (Our absolutely thinned down version)

4. BE GRATEFUL. (Say thank you that you got through it).

That's why I respect people who recognise their phobias and decide to
overcome them. I know of all the difficulties that come to the surface when
trying to overcome fear, even to face it, or take it on as a challenge, can
cause negative-acting inner barriers to go up. I became an insomniac for a
week without sleep, simply because every time I became aware that I was
not lucid, I thought that I would stop breathing in my sleep.

Yes, I know it is a mad idea, but believe me it was real to me and in the end,
the only way I could get to sleep was to literally accept that I was going to
die.

Have you ever dozed off in a chair (or at a meeting) and had that falling
sensation just as you go into sleep, which wakes you up?

This is what happens with insomnia, except it doesn’t matter if you are
tucked up cosy in your bed. Ever time that you doze off there is this “alarm”
going off to wake up quick. It’s really not a very pleasant experience at all.

- 48 -
However, I used the falling sensation of the insomnia to literally fling myself
off a cliff so to speak, into the darkness of slumber. Once I used that
technique for a while I was able to sleep. After I had used it under an
extreme case, I didn’t have to rely on it so much as my normal sleeping
pattern eventually settled.

Fear stems as an instinctive reaction to threat of preservation; so, it's quite

natural to feel it doesn't exist. As most of us, most of the time, don't feel
under threat. But I'm just saying I know enough about it to see the "barriers"
or excuses that we put up, as a fear when we should be using these barriers
as a stepping stone towards turning the wheels of our destiny.

For example. A person who is frightened of dogs. One would imagine that
he try to think less of them, not look at them in the light of wonderful
creations or companions, that are actually fascinating to study and play with.
But more as a trigger to reasons why he cant walk down a certain road or is
always looking for a dog lurking around the next corner. It might be the
same for people who dread spiders. My point is that fear drives us often
more than we are aware of. Marketing techniques went through a spate of
using fear to drive sales up, your home is at risk if you do not continue
payments, that sort of thing.

Anyway, I found I could apply the D.I.P. principle to "get on with it",
"phone the person" talk to them, explain my ideas or put my point across.
And, after a while, could relax in different situations without feeling
threatened.

If you find you are saying "I can't do ........ (Such and such) because of .........
(so and so)", write down that excuse, as a short-term goal to overcome.
Then act on it. You will amaze yourself once you realise that it is often the
thought of doing something that is harder than actually doing it.

I hope most sincerely that you will accept the principles outlined throughout
this book, practice them, and see the quality of your life improve
immeasurably.

Chapter 10

JUXTAPOSITION
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juxtaposition
refers to the stimulation of creativity in problem solving, design or other
creative pursuit by confronting two unrelated concepts or objects, usually
the goal or problem to be solved on the one hand and a randomly
selected object or concept on the other.

Success is blossoming on earth,

People achieving what they're worth.
Old concepts, marketed new ways
New concept deliberately delays
When power of mind is being taught.
Those who apply it, should give thought,
To those who bud from seeds of fools,
As wise is he that knows the rules.
Darren Williams
June, 1987

Because I haven't laid out a way in which to make money already do not be
distressed - the reason is simple - somebody is already making money from
the idea and has given the step-by-step way, in which it was done.

You will always find books about YOUR ambition. As I wish to guide
others, from the strong standpoint of knowing a method is successful, I
refuse to lead you along a false path.

It would be easy for me to continue now, giving you the impression that I
became a multi-millionaire by writing a successful book, I sold a thousand
copies at £10 each, so I made some money and I remain satisfied that if you
“read between the lines” that your success is assured.

The application of Dynamic Id Perception, the building of creative energy

and the achievement of its success. That is my business; I want to give
people the winning formula. The time is absolutely right to "expand" from
- 51 -
the seeds of infelicitous upbringing. By investing in your future, you invest
in your county’s future, your home.

We make the rewards we seek personally and make a worthy contribution

towards the growth of the economy. We earn more; we pay more tax we
spend more. You know that other people have made mistakes before
becoming successful - I certainly did!

Financial mistakes can usually be recovered by the person with the right
approach and the foresight of time but money isn't everything. I made sure
that I learned from my mistake.

I noted, that because I PAID for listening to some words, I listened much
more intently; charging for your book means people read it the material the
same , but the attitude is different its a deeper fashion.

If one has to PAY for the information. It automatically has a numeric value
and it becomes your property. Simply because we are all sceptical of FREE
handouts, it is necessary to charge for this information. Such is human
nature.

I apply myself in everything I do. Dynamic Id Perception and the business

world go hand-in-hand. When you start thinking about it, it can be quite
alarming. I must admit, when I started writing this book, I had no idea that
the creative power that comes from applying my own skills could bring
results from such incentives, although I remained open-minded and positive
at all times. And there is something here for everyone. If you're absolutely
frank with yourself, you know you could do it.

I used to think that the brain drain was the movement of the people with high
IQ.'s out of the country. I now think that it was implied a little more
personally. Many of my friends have reached a stage in life, where they
have closed the doors to further ambitions and I find that sad.

What is it that makes people think they cannot do something - probably

experience of previous failure.
- 52 -
I did something about it. I took the bull by the horns and hung on. I'm much
better off for the experiences that I have had. (Getting on and using what I
have, to pursue my goals.)

A new technique, that once applied, shatters the boundaries of conditioning

and stimulates creative and helpful ideas. But remember NOW, use now to
develop your future, you will still arrive at the same pace, whether uptight or
relaxed.

- 54 -
Chapter 11.

Creating I D E A S

In twenty years a lot has changed. It was before the age of the internet and
eBay, so I needed to bring up to speed. This chapter was originally lists of
ideas and I have cut them in this edition as ideas and opportunities are all
over the place especially on the internet:

Start off by writing a list of things that you ENJOY doing. The chances are,
that if it is something you enjoy doing, you will be above average at it. If
you are better at something than somebody else, then there will always be
others who are willing to pay for your skills or experience or knowledge.

If you can't think of a particular skill that you enjoy, think about things that
worry you, or have worried you in the past which you have overcome.

How did you get round it? Was there any advice that may be helpful to other
people? Information and advice doesn't need great writing skills, just
research and patience - when I was an engineering apprentice, I used to walk
around with a little booklet that was a minefield of information about drilling
sizes, threads, cutting speeds, etc. I'd probably still be using it now if that
were still my business. I realise that that has already been done; this is
where your individuality comes in. Whatever your business is, there is
always information about it that other people will find helpful.

I need to add leisure, as people do, unfortunately, separate them sometimes.

Business and Leisure can be something you can enjoy, help other people
with, and make money at as well.

To follow in my footsteps, think of information, skills, experience or

product(s) that people come to you for.

Whatever appears to be a stumbling block, include it in your list? I use all

sorts of moods and methods to improve my technique for discovering new
ideas that I can apply to my creativity.
- 55 -
I consider the ability to use any hobby or interest to benefit from - as a
worthy skill.
A friend of mine, having read my manuscript in its early days, decided to
restart her hairdressing rounds, realising that the reasons for stopping
(because of her children) were excuses, or barriers, that could now be
overcome. So, this book isn't just for people who want to make the massive
goals. Someone else used it to start a new course in child psychology that
they had been thinking about for ten years.

Try creative unhappiness! What makes you unhappy?

In the same way, try creative fear. Many of us have had some phobia at
some time - how did you overcome your fears? Did you have any special or
personal tricks?

I used to enjoy writing short stories at school, and poetry later on in life.

Everyone has a unique input into something. Turn frustration into finance.

Promoting
When I was in Texas, many years ago I got involved with jet-ski's. I had so
much fun on them that I made a point of being at the lake each Sunday, with
a Kawasaki jet-ski to use all day from the shop where I was helping out to
promote the product for the company. Some companies actually “give” some
of their products away as samples. This is true even of car manufacturers.
Some people even get paid to drive a particular car just to promote it.

It's amazing how, when you focus some energy, you benefit.
Remember:

Sometimes an idea seems too obvious (or easy) to work. All the better!
What more could you wish for? Everything you want, by doing something
you find easy!

- 56 -
It's what you put into life that brings rewards. The rewards can be as big as
you like, for relatively very little effort.

A classic mistake that people make is asking themselves wrong questions at

the wrong time. Starting with things like "Have I got enough capital?" Work
on the idea first. An idea doesn't cost much!
If you're looking for a "product", make sure to ask yourself questions about
it. What if it were priced lower? If it were priced higher? Can it be used in
any other way? Would it have a better impact if the advertising was
changed? What if it were a different colour, different size - could you find a
new market for it? It is a healthy practice to list as many ideas as you can,
but when you find your "main idea", think of ways to improve it, or at least
seek different ways of looking at it.

There are billions of products already on the market that may just need your
idea to make them "just what people are looking for".

You get a good chance to let your subconscious help with this. Let an idea
develop once you have chosen one. I found that the more I focussed my
mind towards thinking, visualising and followed it through, the results were
always pleasing.

Imagination is an important key, which by continued exercise can be

developed as a skill in its own right. In a sense, this is what D.I.P. is doing.
As well as developing (or training) your own potential and attitude towards
things that you might have previously decided against because of excuses.

Once you have decided to do something, how do you start?

Well, by deciding, you have started! Expand with the idea and pursue as
much information as you can, having given yourself a list of things to do and
questions that need answering. You will find that most people are only too
pleased to talk about their business, and you will always be able to get advice
if you need it.

- 57 -
- 58 -
Chapter 12.

Advertising and looking after your customer

There is no advertisement better than by word of mouth, I have found. If one

can present something that makes people talk to their friends about it,
whether it be a service or a product, I can’t think of a better type of
advertising than through recommendation. Getting that sort of reaction is the
dream of any marketing professional, but in advertising that is only half of
the process.

It has to be put in front of so many people first, before that sort of

establishment with customers can be made. These days there are many
different ways to gain personal recommendation from customers and to
broadcast those recommendations via posting them on the internet for others
to read. Feedback on eBay for example

My original advertising budget was four thousand pounds, and although that
was twenty years ago and that figure probably represents twice that amount
now, it was by far the most costly part of my original way of selling this
book. Of course, that was in paperback format, not available on line and cost
a whopping ten pounds to buy. With the introduction of electronic transfer,
and downloading, the cost of advertising can be brought down virtually to
zero. I have reflected this by cutting my asking price substantially as you are
now aware.

My goals have changed over time and I would like to be remembered by as

people for having motivated them into starting and seeing through something
that they may not have done had I not been introduced to their lives.

I own the rights to this book.. I would be more hurt to lose the credit for
putting it together than I would if the copyright fees. I think I deserve some
credit for what I have accomplished so at least, give me credit.

- 59 -
With the advent of email as everyone is aware came it’s ugly sister – spam –
not only is it a waste of time for those involved in trawling through it all and
deleting it, it is illegal to create.

One doesn’t need to spam if one has collated the right email lists of those
people who are interested in your product.

If you were clever with your mailing lists, creative with your advertising,
have directed the product into the right marketplace, had the right people
interested and buying your product and then had them recommending to
their friends about it after they had used it, then you will have realised that
your advertising is working.

Times are changing all the time and again in hindsight of years previous,
when I first wrote read between the lines, I had to use direct marketing and
mail response. Not Email, Good old fashioned snail mail.

I put adverts in the local papers advertising the book and within months had
recovered my costs. It did take a lot longer to sell all thousand copies than I
had imagined it would at first, but over the course of several years, they sold
and although it was just a thousand copies, it was really quite remarkable
how I would end up selling a book, here and then to just tide me over with a
bit of pocket money.

I have to be fair I don’t know how well this is going to sell in electronic
format, but as I said earlier on in the book I don’t need the money now so I
am more interested in the book having some benefit for you. I am trying not
to be “Kantian.” Immanuel Kant is a philosopher, whose theory was, I do
things my way therefore you should do what I say.

The Advert
The layout of your "advertisement" is important. Not only must it draw
attention to your product, but it is the first impression your customer has to
judge upon. Remember, people are automatically suspicious when a gift
horse is looking them in the mouth, so don't over-sell.

- 60 -
I enjoy writing letters, so that is the approach I am biased towards. I state
how people can overcome their problems in the first line. They can decide
there and then whether it is or is not of any interest to them.

It needn't be started in the usual way;

I don't know about you, but I've had letters put through my front door
addressed to "Dear...."

I looked "dear" up in the dictionary! The sender(s) might just as well have
addressed it to "Expensive Mr....."

The point here, of course, is to not be frightened of breaking conventional

approaches.

Please though, keep to the procedure of D.I.P. - Developing and Improving

Potential, visualising and making it happen by doing something towards it
each day.

The benefits will soon be beyond the boundaries of these pages and you will
be in possession of a powerful, live and growing formula for success.

Look after your customer right from the start

Once your advertisement has done its work and you have sold a copy. From
this point on you have a customer. Keep your sentences short and to the
point, you will have already found a "product" that you know he will benefit
from, so make it easy and simple for him to obtain it. I am not implying that
the letter has to be only one page; if it needs more pages to explain about it,
use more pages!

Use different techniques in the letter that will make it appear easy to read.
(Paragraphs should be indented, a word underlined maybe, or a word
or two in blocks.)
BEWARE THOUGH, AN OVER THE TOP SENTENCE IN
BLOCKS CAN BE DAMAGING. It is regarded as “shouting” in
some walks of life – instant messaging for an example. None of us

- 61 -
like to be shouted at, we can read things just as well in normal fonts
and sometimes, writing in caps lock can be:-
(A) More difficult to read blocks.

(B) If your product is a real hit, your customer will already desire
it, and will possibly wonder why something is being "pushed"
at him. It is his decision whether to buy or not. Your jobs, to
supply it, so, again, keep it easy for him.

Should you need more than one page, to sell effectively, when you get to the
end of a page keep your customer's attention by making him hang !

- 62 -
on to the sentence.

A secondary colour helps make a letter more pleasing. Thoughtful use can
bring focus to specific points. Maybe a crossed-out word re-written in a
different colour.

A word of caution - try not to be a "smart Alec", your humour may not agree
with your customer and may distract him from the purpose of your letter.

The fundamental purpose is to present literature that doesn't immediately say

to your customer "ADVERTISEMENT, throw in bin", but shouts to be read.
You probably already know yourself that advertising is running the capital
world and the complexities that can be gone into – demographics aside – So
the information I have here is only scraping at the surface of the world of
advertising.

If you are selling more than one thing, it is once again important to keep the
layout easy to follow through. Different colours of paper for each product
are a good idea. However, it can look unprofessional or at least, untidy, if
not expertly done.

When I respond to any direct mail item, I have already decided that I want it.
Something that may put me off the purchase, though, is the time that it takes
to arrive! So, send your customer a "thank you" note or receipt, informing
him that his money has reached you and the item will be despatched within x
.... days.

If you cannot supply in the time you promise, the customer has every right to
feel he's dealing with a shabby organisation. If, in the very rare instance of,
say, component parts not arriving in good time to your own premises, then
write to your customer and advise him that there may be a slight delay on the
original date - but don't leave him fretting and fuming away thinking he's
being ignored! These days there are rules and laws regarding this matter
which can be downloaded or read online.

- 63 -
With that attitude in mind, first-class post is obviously advantageous. I am,
however, saying this with smaller items being under consideration, and not
parcels that would cost me twice as much to send first-class. If you think that
might create a problem for your customer, tell him that to keep the cost down
second-class post is necessary. You will be the best judge of your own
situation.

Run a "sample" letter first, it makes sense to send a smaller batch out at a
fraction of the cost, rather than to flood the market and find your "ad" isn't
working. It may only be one word that needs changing to make it successful
anyway.

By running a set of samples out to different areas, you will be able to

experiment with different layouts and prices. The best ideas, I have always
found, are presented simply, without fuss.

If words can do the job, use them. People do picture things with written
inspiration; I only have to say "private jet" or "shimmering flamingos" (or
anything) to prove that imagination can be enough. If I had a picture of the
jet, for example, there may be something abstract in the picture that puts
your customer off.

However, if you need to put in a diagram or illustration showing how your

product works, and if it is absolutely necessary, do so. Your customer may
be sceptical of your services. Show him there is no cause for alarm.

White words on black backgrounds, red on green or anything similar is bad

news as far as I am concerned. Halfway through, and the words are dancing
all over the place.

Newspapers and Magazines

As yet, I haven't given you any guidelines as to how long or short your
advertisement should be; that's because you haven't had to comply with any
particular boundaries other than concentrating on making a sale, so far.

- 64 -
Now, we are obviously limited in space - more accurately, now we have to
pay for space.

In the same way we considered the Direct Mail method, modelling the
advertisement on a letter form, we use newspapers for news-article-type
advertisements. The aim here, of course, is to have people read the "news"
about your product or article. So, when you send in your advertisement to
the newspapers' classified departments, request that the "style and font" be as
similar in all ways possible to their own, i.e., size, colour, column-width, etc.
Ideally, the only way it can be recognised as an advertisement, is by the
small heading ADVERTISEMENT, which is required by law.

With a magazine you can use smaller print, as the paper quality offers
sharper detail.

The bigger the space, the more you can make it look like a page, or part of
the news columns. The reason for this is to break away from all the other
advertisements on the page. If you have a lot to say, go for fairly large
advertisements, three-quarter page or full page. Once again, this is the first
opportunity your customer has of making a judgment of your company, so
make sure the content of your advertisement actually says what you want it
to say, to the people you want it to reach.

You may need to confirm with the magazine(s) into which your
advertisement's going, that for example, the "February issue" does actually
go on sale in February, and not January, as so often seems to be the case. It
could be important to you, if you had an "after Christmas" advertisement
going in the January issue, and then found the January issue on sale in
December. It could have disastrous effects.

More to do with magazines than newspapers, but be wary of deadline times,

you don't want to be a month late or early approaching the Christmas sales
season.

Depending on your product or service, different times of the year will

present different responses. The most suited months for Direct Response are
- 65 -
at the end of January, as new year resolutions take hold and the expense of
the Christmas period falls behind them. All through February, March, April.
May. June and July are "iffy", and August is advised against. September,
October and November are O.K. December, again as the summer months,
needs caution. That said, however, if your product is strictly seasonal, then
you must use your own judgment, obviously.

When starting out, I advise against using a full page, because the outlay can
is very high. Use a smaller advertisement.

Place it in the main news section, on the right-hand side, in the upper half. If
you're wondering why such a precise spot, then pick up a newspaper.
Holding the newspaper unfolded, open the paper to a news page. See where
your right thumb is? Well, that's where you want your advertisement. That
is the position which American study has proved to be the most successful.
The nearer you are to this spot, the greater your chances of success.

However, having said that, the ideal is a full page on the front cover. That
being fairly remote, the nearer the front of a section, the better.

I know that lots of people throw free papers straight in the bin after taking
them from the letterbox, without even unfolding them, but I can't say that
they are not successful.

My old Tour Manager used to say "Only half the advertising works, the
trouble is, I don't know which half". So, it may be a good idea to run an
experimental advertisement and measure the response.

Find out the circulation figures of the newspaper or magazine; anything with
less than 10,000 has to be considered carefully, though again, that could be
to your advantage, especially in your local area, where your "community"
see a result of your "dreams".

Reports on actual response rates differ according to their sources, and twenty
years ago one could expect to attain a ten percent response. These days, that
figure has moved down to just 2 percent. However considering the potential
- 66 -
number of people that you can get your product out in front of now, 2
percent of that volume of custom is immense.

- 67 -
- 68 -
Chapter 13

The bottom line

When it came to this chapter, originally, I started it no less than nine times.
This is because at the time I was preparing my costs and arrived at the final
book price of £34.17 each. I remember the pains I went through as well. I
hadn’t found Lakeside Printers by then who produced the book from my
hard copy “artwork”.

It would be at this point of the book where I had to change focus away from
the manuscript and look at the reality of money to fund the project further.
This was a daunting prospect at the time because it would be the absolute
proof to me whether d.i.p could win through and push me through the lack of
funds barrier. It did, obviously, but that is not to diminish the daunting
prospect of it all and the passing of the time.

In the end I went to several different bank managers and was able to give a
presentation showing forecast sales, existing orders (from my friends who all
said they wanted a copy) and a business plan of my next goals in a flow
chart.

I got the funding that I needed. I won’t say how much here as it is irrelevant
to you and my main purpose of this book is to evoke the seed of d.i.p to use
as a motivational force.

When I first had the thoughts of starting, my goodness, how time passes, it is
over a decade ago now . . . had I known that I would be needing thousands of
pounds at the beginning of this book, that might well have, as I have
mentioned elsewhere, stopped me in my tracks.

In the original edition I could not come back to report how things were going
on. My faithful manuscript was soon to be born into the world and was at a
stage where I had to think of typesetting requirements…. However, d.i.p did

- 69 -
continue to be genuinely helpful as I still had fears to overcome by
organising meetings and continue my research into becoming a publisher.

I hadn’t planned on being a publisher when I first started the book, but at that
point I was too involved in the goal to stop myself from progressing just that
little bit further.
It wasn’t the rejection that stopped me from looking for publishers, it was
because if I wanted to launch as a publisher, I could use the book with which
to achieve my next goal

This in some sense makes me a loose grenade in the writing world, and it’s
really not the done thing, but with that decision, I also continued to hold
copyright and it was going to be that ultimately, where the real money came
from in the end.

D.i.p really helped. Focussing on your immediate goals, without looking out
for objectives in the future allows you to concentrate on what is important
now. Not in a week’s time, not in a day’s time but right now, what is the
decision that you are going to make now.

By pinpointing now and focussing upon doing something towards your next
goal now you will absolutely arrive at where you want to be. It may take a
little longer looking at it from the starting side and it may seem to take a long
time while you are heading towards it, but rest assured, that in the passing of
time you will achieve more and more and be able to look back at your
accomplishment with pride.

Now, while I feel that price is well justified by the information in these
pages, it doesn't hide the fact, that as far as a B5 paperback book goes,
£34.17 is expensive. Even my final asking price of ten pounds was a hard
sell for me. Now, so many years later I know that I would quite happily pay
ten pounds for this book because the information in its pages far out way the
initial cost. I can feel safe and live with myself knowing that you are getting
a blinding deal. Ten pounds is very reasonable considering the money that
you may make from reading it.

- 70 -
So being able to drop it to just “pounds” has always been an ambition in the
back of my mind and I am so grateful to the strange quirk of fate that
happened a couple of weeks ago when I discovered “read between the lines”
in amazon.com.

It was difficult for me at the time to justify any cost of the final book, since it
was the accumulated result of two years work. Remember, I wrote
everything down with a pen and then my mother typed it all up in her lunch
hours at work. So it was not just my own effort of thinking it all up, I had
support from my mother as well. Bless her, she can type fast, but that is still
a lot of lunch breaks forfeited.

Not surprisingly, I was a little disheartened at the possibility of having to

drop the idea of starting my own publishing business; which is where my
next level of goals took me to. I No matter how guilty you may feel for
actually asking to be paid for the effort you have madeAfter the two years
working on the project, at some of the most unearthly hours of morning and
night. This brings us to another point.

Perseverance
Now that you have read most of this book, you may be aware of how
powerful d.i.p is, well I hope so. You definitely will if you use it. (But that is
an example of Kantian thought, which I am trying to avoid). I am not a guru
of meditation or professional of the mind. There really is nothing that I have
done in producing this book that most of us could do by making the same
decision as I did.

Writing the book up to this point was always enjoyable and because I had
been writing about a process that induced motivation, you can imagine that I
got it two fold. At times, to some degree I became obsessive in order to get
to the next chapter. Even though, some of the chapters are now, no more than
two pages long.
- 71 -
Remember the original manuscript was over 800 pages. So when it was
chopped down for production to only 110, it went through a major slashing
of whole sections. When I re wrote the book, I cut it down a further 30 odd
pages.

Once you are in a position to work out the costs of your idea, you may find
that you are at your first obstacle. Facing your own strength of belief
dwindling is quite normal and nothing to worry about, remember
perseverance. If you concentrate on keeping your goal in sight your own
determination will get you through.

Success depends on the energy you put into it, which is why it is important
to let Dynamic Id Perception take over your life. Albeit for a temporary
amount of time, a few months for example.

All I can do is ask that don't say "I can't...... “Because you're putting off until
a later date what you could be doing now. The more you accept an deal with
what appear to be setbacks, all as part of the procedure, the stronger you are
on the way to achievement.

Remember, you when you try this that to cast away the old infancy failures
and conditioning to accept the new "no limitations" attitude. As one door
closes, another one opens.

Someone said to me once at a meeting, "If you're at the business planning

stage, get a really large piece of paper, because it always goes off the edge,
and keep an eraser at hand, because it always goes wrong."

Predicting and planning business in the beginning stages obviously requires

a lot of guesswork as one cannot really tell what is going to happen in the
future - but, I can't stress enough how useful this is. In the same way as
writing your goals down, planning gives you an insight that will show up
details which you may have overlooked by not writing things down on
paper.

- 72 -
Problems (or opportunities to show d.i.p worked) that you tackle now,
should ideally make themselves apparent at the planning stage, but it is
inevitable that you will have to cross others that you hadn’t thought of
before. It depends on how well you can build the “visualisation” had at the
planning stage and another reason why the idea is to imagine that one has
already reached that point. If you want to imagine having thousands of
pounds, think of it as if you already have it.

Try and FIND all the obstacles now, then work through each one
individually. (After all, it doesn't matter if you're the most dynamic or the
most inefficient person, we can only do one thing at a time.)

I found that some of the problems which seemed like mountains and
threatened my own dreams could all be overcome (even if it meant climbing
over a mountain).

I feel that pre-planning is simply a test upon which to measure your own
faith of success. As in the beginning the problems are all hypothetical, it
doesn't really matter if they are mountains. They can usually be solved by
getting in touch with someone who has been in your position before and
finding out how they overcame their situation, then adapting their solution to
your own requirements. Once you are really determined you will realise
your success depends on your ability to handle these problems.

It's far, far better to foresee them than it is to come up against them later,
when you are really busy and have to find extra time (or money) to try and
solve a "REAL" problem.

For the purpose of planning you should consider that in all probability you
are going to be putting in long hours.

By planning beforehand, you make decisions that will establish how you will
run your business later on. Not just in the "mechanics", but with your
attitude as well.

- 73 -
When you get to the serious forecasting stage you should already be in close
liaison with a bank manager or other professional business guidance service.
These bodies usually have packages or tools that you can use to help with
forecasting. They can show you how to arrange finance, draw up
satisfactory guidelines and give very helpful advice as to what your next
move(s) should be.

One word here - don't be put off by refusal of a loan, for whatever reason
given, keep your faith and keep going back with improvements and show
that you can face the knocks as much as the success you are aiming for.

It is almost standard practise to be given refusals, and until you have an

adequate plan to show where you are heading and how you have faced it
from every angle; you can expect to be refused. Most refusals have
constructive elements to them, some just seem to be excuses, but in my
experience this all helps in the long run by giving you proof that you can
keep applying yourself, little by little, or step by step. Admittedly, it can be
frustrating at the time.

Chapter 14.

Lucky for Some

So far this has taken me two years applying what started out as an inquisitive
personality moving towards one focal destiny. Something I want, something
that I will apply myself to and work towards. It sounds quite selfish saying
"something I want" when we say it to ourselves.

But then, if a friend says "that's what I really want", how many of us say
"well, I wish you all the luck"? With Dynamic Id Perception (D.I.P.)
(remember what it stands for) you can have all the luck you need.

I used to be my own worst enemy, and then I "heard" 'love your enemy'. I
understand why - by enjoying what you do in life and not fearing (or finding
excuses) to follow your own destiny and by making the right decisions and
applying them or exerting a little effort each day towards them, your whole
life becomes enriched in all senses of the word.

You don't need me to tell you how to run your business, but you may need
(as I did) to be told how to help yourself. You will see how people will be
saying "go for it" and leaving everything up to you to discover how to set
about it. I have used these methods to improve myself and get my life
together again after a nervous breakdown - I can use it now I'm fully
recovered twenty years later, to make my life even better. I have done and I
still do.

Think what my methods can do for you! I'm no longer frightened of setting
very high standards to achieve now, because I can just as easily accept
another road to try, a different approach. This is important, because most
ideas have different ways that they can be pursued by using what you have
built as strong foundations and getting rid of the old "infancy failures". that
is, not telling yourself anti-progressive things and limiting your true
potential. You can have an unlimited self source of energy.

- 75 -
I don't say that your attitude can change overnight - though the decision to
try this technique takes "now" of a moment. Once you have got into your
routine and realise d.i.p is something everyone can benefit from, you will
find an increased ability to adapt yourself rapidly to unforeseen situations.
The term for that is presence of mind. (A dyslexic poet may take that as
treasures beyond limitation.)

We are all Managers; we manage our lives at the moment, don't we? With
self-correcting attitudes and strong personal incentives (goals) we can learn
to manage more. I know – it took me years, to find what are essentially, the
obvious answers.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this book, and that you will use the
methods I've shown you. If you have, please recommend it to a friend, its
easy to get hold of at amazon.com. Just search for Read Between The Lines.

I've given you all the information you need, and what is here is enough to
give you all the success you can ever want.

However, ultimately, it is up to you. It's your decision to try it. I know it

works, but you don't have to take my word for it - you will find that out
yourself.

Chapter 15
Starting off with nothing

Believe me I know what it is like to be on the bread line – or below the bread
line. There have been times in my past when I wasn’t even able to afford
food for three days at a time on a regular frequency.
I have always enjoyed writing so it was a natural way for me to improve
myself all those years ago and to be writing down processes that I religiously
practised myself to “get myself in the right mood” were and are still are
powerful processes on the self and motivation.
Letting money become the reason “not to succeed” is all too often the case
and so try to bear this in mind throughout the book as you progress with your
own set of attributes mentioned later on in the book.
It can be done, I know since I did it, but it isn’t always easy to maintain
belief that it can happen. When it is time to think about money, it will be
when you have managed to put everything else that is needed in place first.
When it comes to money, you will have the product to sell, the self image to
succeed and the motivation to keep going.
Once everything else is in place, the money will not matter since you will be
able either to find someone to finance the project, by way of finding a
publisher or if it comes to it by getting a bank loan to start you off.
If suddenly you can see the dollar signs looming up at any time it is often
that it affects us in two ways. Firstly it can motivate us, if that is our goal,
BUT it can also become a barrier.
Thinking of how to get started without any money can DE-motivate as well.
It is very easy to allow the lack of money stand up in front of you like a
looming great concrete wall. But believe me, if you just hang in there and
keep doing a little bit towards your goals you will get there.
You may also find the government will grant some funding towards a new
business, depending in which country you live in.
Don’t be discouraged, after all you have read up to this point and if you have
managed that and retained what else has been said, you have the skills to be
able to write your own book.
- 77 -
On Concentration and using the PC, I found that if I put on a movie or
documentary in the background, I could minimise – MSword – in this case,
down to about four lines of viewable text and kind of keep an eye on the
documentary or whatever I was playing in “the background” I discovered
that this helped me settle into writing each evening and whilst one may think
that it would be very distracting, what it seemed to do for me was make me
concentrate harder on what I was writing, without feeling like I was trying
hard. Try it and see. Other than that, if you can only concentrate for a few
minutes at a time, it will be better to finds a quiet place when you build up
your initial attributes for this weeks personalised d.i.p. Imagine yourself in a
meadow, in the middle of beautiful scenery, with just the things and people
you need now around you. This is a favourite image of mine.
I sincerely wish you all the best.
