Our client, VMaxx, is a UK based company
that dreamt of driving viable social and

Requirements
With a clearly defined vision, VMax had been extremely clear about what
they wanted the new portal to do and what functionalities they wanted this
portal to have. Their requirements included the following:
 Since it was going to be a social networking platform, VMax wanted
the solution to have a detailed user profile management.
 They wanted the platform to have chat rooms for social networking
chats.
 They wanted the platform to integrate a messaging portal.
 Since the platform was meant to be a place for exchange of business
ideas, VMax wanted to have a business lead generation facility.
 They wanted the platform to allow for auctions to be held.
 Being a business generating portal, it should also allow for hosting of
advertisements.

Radix Approach
The Radix team has garnered an impressive experience in developing a
social networking portal. Despite this experience, our team of professionals
did not undermine the importance of systematic approach. Thus, they
undertook a detailed study of the client’s business domain, business
objectives and vision of the final solution. Based on this analysis, a plan was
outlined for the development of the solution.

The main functionalities included in the system are as follows:


User Profile Management
The solution broadly categorizes users into Administrator, Golden Members
and Normal Users. All these users get user defined access to the different
features. This module essentially features managing or editing user profiles,
password protection or recovery, ID recovery and upgrading of membership.

Social Networking Chats


AJAX chat controls used in the solution facilitate internal chat amongst the
website members. The site admin enjoys complete control over this
functionality.

Social Network Messaging


This functionality allows registered members of the site to send internal
messages. A user is notified about a new internal mail by sending a mail on
his personal Email ID. The module has all basic email related features like
Inbox, Sent Box, and Drafts. Users are also allowed to send attachments of
predefined types and size limit.

Business Lead Generation


Staying true to VMaxx’s vision of promoting meaningful interaction, the
platform allows registered members to share their business ideas with the
site admin. The site admin can view or search and approve or reject the
business ideas based on their credentials.

Auctions Management
The solution allows auctions to be sorted out into forward auctions and
reverse auctions. The auctions are further classified into categories. The
users can post their items for auction accompanied by an image, description
of the item and bidding details. These details will include minimum and
maximum value, increment or decrement level, bid duration, bidder
preferences, payment details, shipping details, return details etc.

Advertisement Management
A registered user is allowed to post an ad on this website. The ad can be
posted for predefined ad zones and displayed on rotating basis for the zone
for a specific period. Admin approval is crucial before displaying an ad. The
users are allowed to change the ad banner after making the payment and
getting admin approval.

Star Features
Radix has always made conscious effort of developing solutions that can be
easily differentiated from the crowd. This feat is achieved by adding small
knickknacks or features into every solution that enhances the value of the

The solution employs ASP AJAX 1.0 tools that impart pleasant user

Browser Compatibility
The solution is available for and compatible with most of the leading web
browsers like Mozilla, Firefox and Safari.
Windows Service
The solution employs a Windows automated service for removing an
advertisement from a zone on its closing date. This background service
facilitates starting of advertisement via manual as well as an automated
mode.
CSS 2.0
The solution employs CSS 2.0 for controlling the appearance of content on a
webpage. CSS 2.0 imparts greater flexibility and control over exact page
appearance ranging from positioning of layout to specific fonts and styles.
