ESSAY. Explain in 100 words or less why you want to run for the position and the key points of your platform.

BC is where I took my baby steps in the start of my org life. I want to give something back and hopefully
enable even more members to take their first steps here as well. Being a part of three BC organizations
as well as the council’s exteam has given me a broader perspective which equips me to first, develop
the organizations through relevant research, absolve reoccurring concerns through representation and
expand the cluster through pertinent training. I believe it is in a dream that ideas are born and in love
that those ideas come to life. I love BC.

III. PLATFORM

1) Main Point:
Research is creating new knowledge. – Neil Armstrong

Details:
The goal or Research and Development (RnD) in the first place is to identify points for improvement. Although BC
orgs are known to be solid and capable, even wealthy, there is a need for research, a need to identify potential weak
spots that can be more objectively done in a third person’s perspective. Data will be collected and used to provide
concrete recommendations for each org as well as to track the improvement of the orgs in the subsequent years. This
is in hope to foster the formation of BC orgs by providing new knowledge and points of improvement. BC should be
proactive to provide for stronger foundations for the continuous “Level Up” among the organizations.

2) Main Point:
Two-way representation – strengthening the bargaining power of Presidents.

Details:
A regular part in BC meetings can be to probe for possible concerns that can be escalated to the administration as
soon as possible. BC will be proficient in voicing out concerns in the past or present that can be grounds of potential
problems in the future. Furthermore, a review of implemented matters will be conducted to see if they are really
representative of the orgs. This then can be followed up with a continuous feedback system to monitor the changes
that have been made. Being a representative of the orgs, the role of cluster head will undertake the role of
representing BC to the Admin as well.

3) Main Point:
Trainings specific to BC Needs. – THINK BIG!

Details:
A consultation with the JGSOM Dean resulted in the insight that BC Orgs need to continue thinking BIG! Aside from
the proactive efforts of Research which deals with potential weaknesses, training capitalizes on strengths. This
training will be conducted on a departmental basis such that representatives of respected organizations sit down and
share best practices. Benchmarking, in this sense, will also be compiled and made into a manual. In doing so, best
practices will be immortalized and can be reapplied. This helps organizations continue their progress, think BIG and
focus on administration. Further plans could involve lectures and seminars facilitated by experienced members of
the SOM faculty. “After all, SOM relies on BC; BC should strive to make SOM proud.”
