The contents have grown out of matiy years of study, research, and experience on the part of both authors. All the materials presented here are based on the fundamental principles and significance of the planets, signs, aspects, and houses. This volume falls into two major parts. Part I presents the basie astro logical principles that underlie transit analysis. It explores the basic ques. tion of what a horoscope is and goes on to expand upon some of the lesser known factors in astrological interpretation, The main emphasis, however, is on the factors inherent in the natal chart that are periodically stimulated by the transiting planets—a transit cannot bring any event into the life of the individual which the natal horoscope has not promised. Fart IL is a handbook for transit interpretation. It delineates the actual Planetary transits and their significance. This volume is the third in a series that has analyzed three major areas Gi Astrology: It deals with predictive Astrology, whichis, in many ways, the most challenging part of astrological study and practice. Teken ve" gether, these three volumes, The Astrologe's Handbook, The Astrology of Human Relationships, and Predictive Astrology: Understanding Teavat titi Key to the Future, cover all ofthe basic materials necessary to the ‘taining of a well-rounded and competent astrologer. Astrology is a vast feld, and no set of writings, regardless of aizo or scope, could hope to cover all astrological subjects of interest or impor- tance. However, these three volumes do provide the essential materials for gaining competence in Astrology, and they can be used as a spring. board for further rescarch and development. It is our hope that eventually these volumes will provide the basis for an organized course of university studies, ‘An understanding of the unfoldment of indiv lual destiny is more im- portant now than ever before, because of the fast-moving times, Fore. knowledge of upcoming trends can be an invaluable aid to the use of la- tent opportunities and to the intelligent direction of life How to Use This Book Whether you determine the transits on your own with the aid of an Ephemeris or uso our computer service, Part IE of this book provides you with a guide to interpretation. All the major transits are listed and delineated, If you do not want to get involved with the mathematical procedures of determining transits, a computer service providing an accurate bisth horo. Scope and a complete isting of all the planets transiting your birth horo Scope is available. The dates of these transits will be listed in a readout The transits themselves will be correlated to the pages in this book that explain their significance. If you wish to use this service, complete the ‘order blank in the back of this book. If you wish to determine transits on your own, fist find the positions of the planets given in an Ephemeris* on a given date. Next, ascertain if angles oF 0°, 60°, 90°, 120°, or 180° are formed by these planets to any of the natal planets in the birth horoscope. (Minor aspects are not treated im this volume.) The next step is to look up the period of time during Which these angles are formed within an allowable orb of 1°, If the Sun 0 Moon is involved, an orb of 2° is allowed, After you have determined the aspect or angle, look it up in Part If of this book under the section devoted to the transits ofthat particular planet. ‘Transits of the houses are also treated under the individual planets Ai, Ephomeri x hock giving the positions ofthe planets for Greenwich noon ‘or midnight for each day of sears" PO a
