THESIS PROPOSAL

a. Title of the Study

MVN BNCI Office Based Notification System

b. Statement of the Problem

Due to bulk technical reports received by the company (MVN

Builders Networks & Components Inc.) for processing, the Office strives
to deliver as fast as they can to promote accurate-service to the
clients. The problem arises on bulk technical reports and delayed
submissions which are due to lack of accurate communication and
notification, this kind of process cannot be achieved with the current
setup. Hence the proposed system will help the company to
disseminate the reports/information to end-user effectively and with
fast response.

Thus the proposed system will support this service-demand of

minimizing the length of time to evaluate the technical reports by the
use of the graphical user interface offered by the system and mainly
by notifying the personnel’s directly through their desktop units and
mobile phone and a well-maintained central database to safeguard all
information catered by the company.

c. Theories and Concepts Used

This approach is application-based and in simplistic terms,

provides a means for delivering a specific message to all active
computer system across a LAN (Local Area Network) and Mobile
Phones. The system interprets broadly on program semantics and
verification and information theory. It provides facilities for controlling
information access, enforcing information integrity, managing
concurrency. Naturally, an effective desktop communication tool needs
to provide the capability for a message or alert to be delivered across
an enterprise seamlessly and within seconds. Another concept of this
system is a network modification, a network topology for security
reasons. The proponents will also use set of computer programs that

controls the creation, maintenance and the use of database-

management.

d. Area of Investigation

The system is capable of transmitting information

simultaneously to Desktop PC’s and mobile phones through a
combination of software and hardware that provides a means of
delivering a message to a set of recipients.

Scheduling - When deciding the list of recipients to notify of an

event, a notification system might take into consideration the
date/hours in which a recipient can be notified. When office
departments needs to send a notification to its end-users, the notify
console b is used as a pre-installed application. This provides the
ability to set visual priority for each notification on the user’s desktop
screen. This system will also be used in a certain office/organization for
verification purposes and to validate as per-requirements of a certain
project/activity. And then the system will notify the distinctive
department/personnel.
Security – the key effective notification system has to be ease
and speed of use. An over-complicated yet powerful solution will be of
a little benefit if it requires extensive training or user input. The
organization will be keen to make sure only approved individuals have
access to the creation and delivery of notifications.

The system will be predominantly developed using Java and

MySQL

e. Target Users and Beneficiaries

The following people will be benefited by the proposed system:

The Company Owner. This system will help the owner by

tracking down the activity of its project. This system will help them to
monitor their work flow and to inform their personnel immediately in
case of sudden events or technicalities.
The Authorized Office Personnel’s. The system can help the
office personnel’s to be more accurate and lessen the work done by
the existing system. This will enhance the personnel’s working time.

g. Respondents of the Study

There are two respondents of this study who are the person directly
in charge of the daily event and activity of office works– the Personnel,
and the Owner of the Company, both from the Administrative Office of
the company.

h. Gantt Chart
The proposal must include a Gantt chart wherein the duration is from
June 2010 – March 2011. The Gantt chart must be presented in
landscape set-up.
