performing specific job-related tasks.
Connecting hose to water sources to charge hose lines for fire suppression or

other emergency response activities.
Making forcible entry into structures when necessary to extinguish/suppress
2
fires and preserve life utilizing hand tools and/or power tools.
Performing daily equipment and safety gear checks (e.g., personal protective
3
equipment, medical supplies, ladders) in preparation for emergency response.
Carrying, maneuvering, raising, and lowering various types of ladders during
4
emergency incidents and routine training activities.
Carrying, dragging, and hoisting hose around obstacles, over uneven terrain,
5 up and down stairs, and/or up and down ladders to provide water for
suppression, rescue, and exposure protection.
Identifying, securing, and controlling utilities (e.g., gas, electric, water, special
6
hazards) as required by incidents to reduce scene hazards.
Extricating patients trapped in vehicles using hydraulic spreading tools, air
7
spreading tools, cuttings tools, and stabilizing tools.
Implementing exposure protection (e.g., attached structures, structures in close
8
proximity, brush) to reduce risk of fire spread.

accordance to specific job-related knowledge and abilities.

Ability to carry, maneuver, raise, and lower various types of ladders (e.g.

straight, extension).
Knowledge of Basic Life Support airway adjuncts and techniques as used
25
on patients in respiratory distress.
Ability to provide appropriate care and treatment to patients when
26
necessary to preserve life in compliance with local protocol.
Ability to use emergency equipment (e.g., shovel, McCleod, Pulaski,
27 pickhead and flathead axe, wire and bolt cutters, hammers, battering tools,
sledge hammer, power tools) during emergency incidents.
Knowledge of proper ladder placement and use in various situations and
28
emergency incidents.
29 Knowledge of patient vital signs and assessment to identify patient needs.
Knowledge of the appropriate use, care, and inspection of Personnel
30
Protective Equipment (PPE).
Knowledge of rapid intervention crew/team tactics for firefighter safety and
31
rescue.
Knowledge of lookouts, communication, escape routes, safety zones
32
(LCES) to mitigate incidents safely.
33 Knowledge of the strategies used to suppress various types of fires.
Knowledge of control methods (e.g., indirect, direct, combination) used to
34
suppress various types of fires.
Knowledge of the 10 Standard Firefighting Orders and 18 Situations That
35
Shout Watch Out for wildland firefighting safety.
Knowledge of proper fire fighting tool maintenance to ensure preparation for
36
emergency response.
