Ms. Richardson,

I am interested in applying as your company’s business analyst. The information about the vacancy
referred to in this letter, came to me through your company’s web post on JobStreet.com.

The job I am applying for is not new to me. I have experienced working with other rather prominent
companies as a business analyst. During those years, I have been involved with extensive projects
and enterprises. I have explored every nook and corner of preparing, delivering, and presenting a
business analysis endeavor. Aided by modern statistical and modeling techniques, I would truly be a
productive member of your working force. Moreover, I have learned how to develop a harmonious
relationship with my teammates during projects. At work, I am usually understanding and
democratic.
I find this job vacancy very suiting to my working preferences and objectives as a member of a
financial or business analysis team.

I hope that my qualifications would meet your requirements. I look forward to sitting in an interview
to discuss my resume with you personally. Feel free to reach me though my cellular phone number or
my e-mail address.

Thank you for taking the time to read my resume and letter.

Sincerely yours,

Bernard McDuffie

Dear Mr./Ms. LastName:

Please accept the attached resume for the position of Technical Business Analyst as recently
advertised on Monster.com. I've had the pleasure to review CompanyName's web site, and to speak
with Jane Doe, a colleague at CompanyName, and am very enthusiastic about the position advertised. I
believe that my combination of technical skills, consulting experience, and business sensibilities would
serve CompanyName well in this position.

My foundation is as a developer, in multiple languages, on many platforms. If the situation requires

getting code done, I deliver high quality, clean, working code, quickly and correctly. I'm comfortable
with structured code, databases, OO programming, and "specialty" languages such as might be found
in workflow or business rules systems. I have every confidence that to the extent the position requires
actual coding, I can sling code with the best.

To the extent that the position requires analysis of business rules and processes, I have specific
experience in two main areas that are closely related. On the analysis side, I was the Product Manager
for a large system. In that capacity I was responsible for extracting functional requirements from end
users, customers, marketing, etc., and translating those requirements into detailed requirements. On
the business rules side, as the Product Architect for a suite of enterprise systems I led the
requirements definition and vendor and partner review for a collaboration system that included a
business rules engine component. While I was not involved as a developer in these systems, I am quite
familiar with this class of products and the salient features that define their value.
On a more general level, I believe I bring the broad "soft" skills you can have confidence in with a
candidate that will represent CompanyName to your customers. I trust you would find me to be well-
spoken, energetic, confident, and personable, the type of person on whom your customers will rely. I
also have a wide breadth of experience of the type that gives you the versatility to place me in a
number of contexts with confidence that the level of excellence you expect will be met. In most
situations technical decisions must be made within the context of larger business constraints.
Throughout my career I have strived to keep business issues in the forefront, be it as a developer
implementing a test framework to capture defects as early as possible, or as the Product Manager for
an enterprise system, allocating resources and prioritizing enhancements to meet strategic objectives.
Focusing on business imperatives is a core value of mine, one that I bring to every project on which I
work.

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to review my credentials and experience. CompanyNames'
blend of Business Strategy, Market Analysis, and Information Technology is very exciting. I hope that
you'll find my experience, interests, and character intriguing enough to warrant a face-to-face
meeting, as I am confident that I could provide value to you and your customers as a member of your
team.

Sincerely,

FirstName LastName

Dear Mr Smith

Re: Business Analyst position, Ref: 655FF

I write in response to your advertisement in yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald for the position of Business
Analyst. I wish to apply because the role represents an ideal next step in my career, and I believe I am an
excellent candidate for this position.

I am currently employed as a Senior Business Analyst at Clover Financial Services, however I wish to move
to a larger organisation in order to make use of the skills I have acquired in my three years at Clover and
from my recent completion of a Graduate Diploma of Finance.

Through a range of tasks I have developed extensive experience with business analysis in both
superannuation and mortgage products using the Fund Accounting system. I have also had experience
working with the HiPortfolio system across all sectors of business analysis.

I have been responsible for generating functional specifications and requirements analysis. For example, last
year I planned and implemented a superannuation program for a retail firm for which I was commended by
the client for my efficient work and viable technical recommendations. I have excellent project management
skills built upon a strong knowledge and understanding of technical and financial accounting.

My strong IT and technical skills, gained while studying and working on my projects mean I am able to
advise and assist the technical teams with development decisions and processes.

I am a dedicated team player who enjoys the company and support of my peers while being able to manage
my priorities and work with minimal supervision. I have strong communication skills – my day-to-day job
involves communicating complex data with the technical team and breaking down this information for clients
and stakeholders.

My analytical and problem-solving skills are well developed. Working on a complex fund accounting project
in 2008, I demonstrated these abilities when I identified and resolved issues in the project plan prior to start
date. In all my projects I have always approached problems in a logical manner to find the best solution.

Most of all, I am a committed professional with the skills and attributes the job requires, and a strong
determination to achieve an excellent outcome for my employer. I hope to have the opportunity to discuss
this more with you at an interview.

Kind Regards
