Camp Registration
1. Family membership in the Suffolk Y in good standing (valid
through the summer) and Building Fund Assessment for children of
current and prior members must be paid to date. All Non-mem-
bers must pay a surcharge of $260 per family for participation in all
camp programs. The membership fee, building fund assessment
and/or surcharge is not refundable.
2. A fully completed and signed 3-part application/registration
card must be returned at time of registration with deposit
and surcharge, if applicable.
3. Registration will be accepted only upon the following
fee payments.
A. Current membership or non-member surcharge;
B. Building Fund Assessment paid to date, for current
and prior members;
C. Deposit of $250.00 per child for all camping
programs, including combinations. All checks should
be made payable to the Suffolk Y JCC.
4. All camp fees must be paid IN FULL by April 29th..
Incomplete payments by that date shall make camp
contract subject to cancellation by the Y.
5. When Y camp programs are wait-listed, priority will be
given to Y members and consideration based on
availability in groups and bus transportation. We
strongly urge you to register EARLY because many
of our camp programs were closed out last year.

Marci Sherman, MSW, has had 29
years of camping experience and
holds a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Elementary Education
from Oneonta State College and a
Masters Degree in Social Work
from Adelphi University. She is the
Y’s Associate Executive Director.
She has been with the Y’s camps
for 23 years.
Ron Hayden returns for his
14th year as the Day Camp
Co- Director. He has been in
camping most of his life and is
on the Y’s full-time staff as the
Children and Youth Services
Director.
Adam Bendeson, MSW, an Assistant
Executive Director at the Y, will be
returning as the Day Camp Co-
Director for his 8th year and holds a
Bachelor of Science Degree from
New York Institute of Technology
and a Masters Degree from Yeshiva
University’s Wurzweiler School of
Social Work. He has been working
in the camping field for over 27
years.
Grace Barrett, the Y’s Camp Create
Director, is an accomplished artist
as well as the Commack Middle
School’s art teacher. Grace has
taught art enrichment classes at the
Y for 25 years and has her MALS
from Stony Brook University and an
MS in School Administration and
Supervision from Touro College.
Jason Goldberg returns for
his 11th summer as Teen
Adventure Travel Camp
Director at the Y. He has
many years experience in
camping and holds a
Bachelors Degree from
Dowling College.

Carrie Lipenholtz returns this
summer as the camp liaison. This
is her 12th season with the
Suffolk Y JCC camps. Carrie holds
a BS in secondary education
from Towson University and a
Masters Degree in Literacy
Education.
Eileen Schneyman, LMSW has
been with the Y for 17 years. She
has a Bachelor of Science degree
in Social Welfare from Albany Univ.
and a Masters Degree in Social Work
from Adelphi Univ. She is the Y’s
Assistant Executive Director. This is
Eileen’s 30th summer working in Y
camping programs and she
supervises the Y’s Special Needs
Programs.
Jami Ashendorf, will begin her
19th summer with the Y. She
returns as Director of Camp
Wonderland. The mother of
three, she has taught pre-school
at the Y for 18 years and is also
the Director of Early Childhood
Services during the school year.
Barbra Bresin has been president of
On Centerstage Inc. for 17 years.
She has been involved with theater
most of her life, on stage and in
backstage production. On
Centerstage and the Suffolk YJCC
have been together for 18 years.
During the year, she is the director
of On Center- stage Juniors and
Teens program at the Suffolk Y.
Nancy Briel is the Y’s
Waterfront Director. Nancy
received her Bachelors of
Science in Education from
Towson University. Nancy is
the Y’s Aquatic Director during

CIT Program
Teens entering grade 10
(Sept. 2011)
The CIT program is an on-the-job training
experience for a select group of mature teens
who are interested in working with children.
Applicants must take part in the Orientation
and Training sessions in the spring as well as
the Staff Training Institute prior to the
opening of camp. CIT’s could be placed in
a group (in either Camp Wonderland or
Junior Camp) or a specialty area. There will
be on-going training throughout the summer
as well as special trips. Teens interested in
applying should call 631-462-9800 ext. 127
for an application and interview. The deadline
to apply is March 1, 2011.
The CIT camp is $1600 and is only available for
the entire 8 week camp season. Y Family or
Single Parent Membership is required. Building
Fund and membership must be valid through
the summer.

Lights, Camera, Action! Each day is filled with
swimming in the Y ‘s indoor pool, free choice
theater electives, and rehearsal for the
Broadway-style show. Everyone performs,
but auditions are held to determine part
selection. Professional staff help each camper
develop skills in dancing, acting, singing, set
design, stage management and more. Each
session also includes a trip to see an equity
production show.

Extended Day for Children of

Working Parents
For children enrolled in Theatre Camp we are
offering an extended day – 8-10AM and 4-6PM
at the rate of $5.00 per hour. This must be pre-
paid and is non-refundable and is for the entire
period the child is registered for camp.

gram combines all you love about camp at
the Suffolk Y JCC building with the excite-
ment of Junior Camp at the Henry Kaufmann
Campgrounds. Your children will spend 3
days (M, W, Th) at their registered camp
(either Camp Wonderland or Young
Adventures) and 2 days (T, F) at Junior Camp.
Campers will take an air conditioned bus to
the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds at 10:30
where they will participate in two daily
swims, lunch and 2 fabulous activities such
as archery, pioneering, sports, or mini golf as
well as our unique Friday Oneg celebrations.
Then they will take a bus back to the Y build-
ing on the Shuttle and return at approximate-
