PROJECT #1

Project Title : Multi- Channel Desktop

Project Description:
Multi – Channel Desktop was a flagship project. The goal of the project was to design, develop, and
implement an enterprise wide, customer centric product that supports sale and service solutions for HSBC
USA across staff and call centre channels. The application was used by the HSBC Bank staff and customer
relationship centre employees across the US. The project was developed in phases from 2005 onwards.

Recently, the Websphere portal server hosting the application was upgraded from version 5.1 to 6.0. The
build and deployment process of the application was also changed from a manual process to an automated
process.

Project Description:
B2B Funding was a part of the Personal Internet banking project of HSBC. HSBC USA wanted to enable its
internet banking customers to fund their newly opened accounts online from external banks. This project was
to use a third party vendor for funding new accounts. The project included design and development of a
reusable service layer and a data access layer which could be used across multiple projects using the same
third party vendor.

Project Title : Business Intelligence projects

Project Description:

Business Intelligence projects were meant for relationship managers and branch managers for reviewing the
reports of the customer portfolios managed by relationship managers. The application was
also used by branch managers to review the performance of relationship managers working
for the bank. The application was a web interface to COGNOS reports. COGNOS 8.0 was
used as the reporting tool. The web application was based on the HSBC proprietory
framework (Struts based) and used the IBM COGNOS SDK API (Java) to connect and
retrieve reports from the COGNOS server.

Project Title : Webtrends
Technology : Java, Scheduled jobs, Webtrends API.

Project Description:
This project involved the design and implementation of a small Java based module which retrieved
Webtrends analytics reports from the Webtrends website and copied them onto the server. These jobs were
sent via ftp to another server where they were picked up for further analysis by the bank staff. Scripts were
written to sftp the csv files generated from the Java based module to another server. Windows scheduler
was used to schedule the running of the scripts to trigger the Java based module and sftp the generated
reports to another server.

Project Title : Public website

Project Description:
Public website was primarily a marketing site for HSBC USA and Canada. The project consisted of a
collection of several different functionalities. Some of them were contact us applications, branch locator
functionality, mutual fund applications, calculators, multi step application forms etc.
