BTEC Diploma in Business

Level 2

INTRODUCTION

A BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a practical work-related course, where you will learn about business through
completion of projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

It will introduce you to particular areas of employment environment and provide you with a good basis to progress
onto a more advanced work-related qualification.

A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSE grades A* - C.

WHAT WILL I DO

The Diploma is made up of 60 credits, 20 of which are attached to 4 core subjects.

All students take the 4 core units:

● Business Purposes
● Business Organisations
● Financial Forecasting for Business
● People in Organisations

The optional units include:

● Business Communication through Documentation


● Customer Relations in Business
● Business Online
● Working in Business Teams
● Visual Merchandising and Display Techniques for a Retail Business

All units are internally assessed and graded, and there are no examinations to gain a First Diploma.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

The course is designed to be studied for 1 year on a full time basis. Opportunities will be available to study
complementary subjects e.g. Functional Skills, Personal Finance and Employment Skills.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS

You should have at least one of the following:

● 4 GCSEs at grades A* – D including English and Maths


● A good reference from a previous Level 1 related course, school and / or an employer.
● Related work experience
● Functional skills and Level 1 in Maths and / or English

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

With further training or study, you could progress into a Business related career e.g. accounting, administration,
customer service, finance, IT, personnel or sales.

The Level 2 Diploma is a good preparation for both employment and progression onto a National Diploma in
Business or E-Business.
FEES

Full time Courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course. For others,
fees may vary depending on personal circumstances. Please enquire for details.

You will need to buy an A4 lever-arch folder for your work and some paper an pens. You may be asked to
contribute to educational visits if arranged.
