COURSE DESCRIPTION
The student will demonstrate competency by integrating geometrical, and algebraic
concepts. Calculators will be used in plotting functions, analyzing data, simulating
experiments. The students will be presented with enough trigonometry and circular
functions to constitute a standard pre-calculus course in trigonometry
Domain Standards

1. NUMBER OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS

• Students will represent, use and apply numbers in a variety of forms.
• Students will select and perform operations and evaluate the
reasonableness of results of number operations
2. GEOMETRY
• Students will apply geometric concepts, properties, and relationships
in problems solving situations
• Students will use transformations, congruency, symmetry, similarity,
perpendicularity, and parallelism to solve problems.
• Students will identify and apply scale factor, ratios and proportions
• Students will connect geometry with other mathematical topics
3. MEASUREMENT
• Students will apply the appropriate methods and units to solve
problems.
• Students will use appropriate units of angles such as degrees, minutes,
seconds, radians and decimals.
4. ALGEBRAIC CONCEPTS AND RELATIONSHIPS
• Students will write, model, and evaluate expressions, functions, and
systems.
• Students will use inverse and quadratic relationships to solve practical
application problems.
• Students will connect algebra with other mathematical topics.
6. TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY
• Students will select and use appropriate technologies to model,
measure and research problems and apply the results in a problem-
solving situation.
• Students will use the internet to access notes, lectures and assignments
• Students will use appropriate calculators and computer software to
model and solve, and report their solutions.
7. PROBLEM-SOLVING AND MATHEMATICAL REASONING
• Students will identify a problem to be solved mathematically from a
real-life situation.
• Students will determine, collect, and organize the relevant data
needed to make a mathematical decision.
• Students will demonstrate logical reasoning, both inductive and
deductive.
• Students will communicate mathematically to explain reasoning,
verify results, and write solutions.

Performance Standards
In a problem-solving situation, using appropriate tools of technology, algebra, and
geometry, a proficient student will work independently to:
-Write, model, and evaluate functions, equations, inequalities, and systems to
reach a solution or make a connection
-Represent, use, and apply numbers in a variety of forms
-Make connections in applying properties of numbers, triangles, trigonometric
functions, circular functions, and vectors to complex situations
-Collect, organize, interpret, and present numerical information using tables,
graphs
-Solve problems using definitions and properties of trigonometric functions,
circular functions, polar coordinates and rectangular coordinates, vectors, and
identities
- Solve life-situation problems by applying knowledge of the laws of sine and
cosine and draw valid conclusions.
-Select and make appropriate use of scientific calculators, computers and
software.
Students who perform at a proficient or advanced level on all the content standards will
receive credit. Students who need help to achieve the standards will be tutored at core
until they meet the standard or the school year ends.
Students will be required to:
Participate in learning activities
Keep a notebook
Attend class, and bring books and graphing calculator, graphing notebook.
Perform quality work in all areas; proficient on all standards
