ASSUMPTIONS
The clear height required to install this Bio filter based STP is 4.0 mtrs .
We have consider entire sewage will be discharged into the sewage treatment
plant in closed pipe. Thus avoiding grid chamber.
The plant design does not account for any toxic contamination and industrial
sewages.
All other pollutants (in the raw sewage) are considered to be within the norms
if present in the sewage continuously or occasionally.
PROCESS GUARANTEE
Our process guarantee is based on the above mentioned design basis and assumptions.
TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY
Oil & Grease Trap : To Separate the free floating oil from the incoming
influent
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
Principle:
System is based on facultative aerobic treatment using a bio-filter and aerobic digestion system in
a single stage module
Pre-amble:
A small scale compact sewage treatment system has been developed by Thermax Limited based
on biological attached growth principles. This compact system is an improvement over the
conventional bio-filter process. It is basically a hybrid biological treatment reactor having all the
advantages of a bio-filter and an aerobic activated process. The biomass generated in the system
is oxidized due to aerobic digestion in the aeration tank of the system. This leads to practically
near zero sludge removal system due to higher sludge retention time..
The basic idea behind the development is to have a continuously operating, non-cloggable bio-
filter with low head loss and high specific bio-film surface. This is achieved by having the bio-
film (or biomass) grows on an attached surface.
Process details:
The primary sewage is first discharged into a collection tank after dirt catching traps. As the
water level in collection tank reaches the max. mark, automatically switches on pump which is
simultaneously pumping the sewage through the suction pipe-line along with the sludge mixture
from settling aeration tank of the bioreactor. Further on the sewage and sludge mixture is
discharged to bio-filter for processing. The bio-filter feed is having evenly placed recesses
through a distribution assembly. A longer contact between the sewage and the immobilized
micro-flora and availability of the active sludge help to reach an 80-85% purification effect in the
biological filter. An overall 98% purification level may be reached with the help of the active
sludge in the settling aeration tank. Oxygen is driven to the aeration tank due to the air oxygen
dissolution during the charge irrigation and as a result of the air involvement during the liquid
discharge to the aeration tank. Oxygen is dissolved in the water due to percolation through the
bio-filter and suction from atmosphere which is taking place at the bottom of bio-filter in the
aeration tank.
