Background: TST – Breaking the Silence
Launched in 1998 by UNESCO, the TST Education Project links schools in the
regions that were involved in the triangular Transatlantic Slave Trade - Africa,
Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe and North America. The primary
goal is an increased awareness of causes and consequences of the TST –
including modern forms of slavery and racism – through educational exchanges,
sharing best practice and developing and diffusing educational material.
