UPSR ENGLISH PAPER TIPS

UPSR ENGLISH PAPER : EASIEST WAY TO PASS


UPSR EXAMINATION FORMAT
? THERE ARE TWO PAPERS TESTED IN UPSR.
? PAPER 1 IS DIVIDED INTO 5 SECTIONS ( 40 MULTIPLE QUESTIONS ).
? PAPER 2 IS DIVIDED INTO 3 SECTIONS ( 3 QUESTIONS ).
? YOU HAVE 50 MINUTES TO ANSWER PAPER 1 AND 1 HOUR 15 MINUTES FOR
PAPER 2.

PAPER 1

SECTION A
VOCABULARY
? 10 multiple choice questions
• Word level ( 4 questions )
• Phrase level ( 3 questions )
• Sentence level ( 3 questions )
? pupils’s knowledge and understanding in vocabulary.

SECTION B
SOCIAL EXPRESSIONS
? 5 multiple –choice questions.
? Test on social expressions used in various situations.
SECTION C
GRAMMAR
? 10 multiple-choice questions
? Test pupil’s knowledge and understanding in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
SECTION D
GRAMMAR TEXT COMPLETION
? 1 passage which describes a picture
? 5 multiple choice questions
? Test on items such as nouns, tenses, adjectives, conjunctions etc.

? 2 passages oflinear and non-linear texts.
? 5 multiple choice questions are set for each passage.

PAPER 2

SECTION A
SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION
• A PICTURE
• 10 Words
• Pupils are required to make 5 sentences by using the words given to describe the picture.
SECTION B
TRANSFERRING INFORMATION
• A picture
• 2 parts :- a. Fill in the blanks
b. Giving their own opinion or reasons.
SECTION C
NOTE EXPANSION
• A picture given as stimulus.
• Words given to guide students

MARKING SYSTEM

Paper 1 = 40 marks
Paper 2 = 40 marks,
To get “A” is around 80% .That’s mean you must get a total of 64 marks from both paper.

MARKING SCHEME FOR SECTION A : QUESTION 1 ( SENTENCE CONSTRUCTION )


BAND DESCRIPTIONS
EXCELLENT
( 9-10 MARKS ) Excellent and confident use of language.
Ideas convey clearly through a variety sentence structure. Confident to use new words to express
ideas. Ideas are well-planned, relevant and linked.
Overall accurate use of spelling and punctuation.
CREDIT
( 5-8 MARKS ) Confident use of language throughout.
Attempts made to construct variety types of sentence structures but occasional errors occur.
Most ideas are well planned but links may be absent or inappropriate.
Most of the ideas are well organized and conveyed clearly.
Overall meaning is still clear.
ACHIEVEMENT
( 3-4 MARKS ) Generally, confident use of the language. Simple sentences with minor errors but
meaning is still clear.
Satisfactory of ideas.

LOW ACHIEVEMENT
( O-2 MARKS ) Poor use of language.
Multiple errors found in sentences.
Ideas are incomprehensible even after a few readings.
Limited and incorrect use of vocabulary.
Many spelling and punctuation errors.

1. 10 perkataan yang diberi dalam setiap kotak, dibawah gambar, kan?

2. Cari perkataan yang menunjukkan perbuatan/ Kata Kerja ( Verb ).


3. Letakkan Who ( siapa ) disebelah kiri Verb tersebut.
4. Jika Who tersebut 1 ataupun singular maka tambah “s” pada verb anda.
5. Jika Who itu lebih daripada 1 atau plural, maka tidak perlu tambah apa-apa.

Since 1997, Upsr English paper changed in to new format.


In 2001,Once again it changed. This time it has been divided into 2 papers.
Paper 1 is a multiple choice questions. It has 40 questions.
10 comprehension questions.
20 grammar questions.
10 based on pictures.

Paper 2.
contain three questions.
1. constructing 5 sentences based on pictures given.
2. Transferring informations.
3. Note expansion.

Marking System
(Paper 1 + paper 2) / 80 x 100
so to achieve A you must collect at least 64 marks from both papers.
