COMISA Sugar Cane Ethanol Project B6

Description: The project consists of the implementation of an ethanol plant with a capacity production of 1,200,000 liters per year. The input to
produce the ethanol will be gotten from sugar crane crops. The project is located in the department of Piura, province of Sullana.

Current Status: Projects Benefits:

Earliest project start date: 2008.
Operation start date: 2010.
Project lifetime: 20 years.
Current Status: Pre-feasibility report on the eligibility, pacing and po-
tential of CER’s generation under the CDM and recommendations on
the viability to develop the Project under the CDM norms. Pilot Plant
under execution to experience the cane development for Ethanol.
Sustainable development contribution:
It reduces diesel in agro industrial activities of COMISA, diesel has a
high content of sulphur and with combustion emit sulphur dioxide.
It displaces a fossil fuel system with a biomass based renewable energy
system.
It provides a source of fertilizers to the crops of the area and inputs for
the industry.
