During this topic pupils will require a large board 65cmx40cm onto
which their paper can be stretched and taped.

Demonstrate how to dampen paper and stick it to their board. Pupils carry this out.
Discuss various methods of applying paint to the wet paper and wh at happens to the
paint when applied. If paper dries out whilst working²spray again.
Spraying colour on.

Moving around with water spray.
Allow pupils to experiment with these methods.

Cling wrap.

Recap on how the background were created last time.


Pupils create a background. chilst still wet, crumple up a sheet of cling wrap then
straighten it out. Lay over the wet paint and gently move around with hand/fingers.
Allow to dry.

Gently lift of the cling wrap to reveal a textured surface resembling crystals or water.
Pupils create a background. chilst still wet, sprinkle the area with rock salt (the paint
must be wet enough to dissolve the salt but not so wet that it has no effect.)
LEAVE TO DRY
Gently brush the salt of the paper to leave a crystal like snowflake effect.

Pupils choose or make a simple A4 stencil or choose a picture to transfer.


Demonstrate how to transfer an image onto the prepared backgrounds.
Show pupils how to paint water into an area and then drop in paints. Paint will only
spread where the water is. Pupils practice on scrap paper b efore working on their
piece.

Pupils will choose one of their photo art images to create a watercol our landscape
painting.

Range of pictures by various artists
Paper.
Paints and brushes.

Discuss the pictures with the pupils and decide as a group which one we would like to
recreate.
Split the image into four pieces and give one to each pupil.
Demonstrate how to sketch out the basic outlines of the picture.
Demonstrate how to match colours.
Pupils create their piece of the picture, making sure they go right to the edge of the
paper.
Once finished the work will be displayed together to make a complete image.
