Dominica Update

March, 2008
John 14:12-13; 15:7-8; 16:23 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who
believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works
than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask
in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall
be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be
My disciples.”
“And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask
the Father in My name He will give you.”

We have just finished a series on prayer in our Wednesday evening prayer services that
has been a great blessing, challenge, and rebuke to me. Chapters 14-16 of John’s gospel
were to prepare Jesus’ disciples to carry on His works without Him yet not without Him.
The admonition was that once they had received the Holy Spirit, they were to carry on
the work He had begun. How could they do His works? The answer is clearly resonated
in these chapters and then demonstrated in chapter 17. Jesus’ admonishes them, to
abide in Him, ask of the Father, and receive from Father the evidence that they are His
disciples; the ability to do His works.

We have been rejoicing in seeing the Lord answer our specific prayers as we seek to
carry on His work here. We have been praying for Gary and Vernie for about a year. We
were not certain of their relationship with the Lord but recently learned that they do
know the Lord. The Lord has been working in their hearts and they have rededicated
their lives to the Lord. They have been coming faithfully to the services the past several
weeks and we are counseling them in preparation for their upcoming wedding. They
desire to build a home that honors the Lord. Vernie prayed for the Lord to bring
someone along to be a help to her and then the church moved next door. Praise the
Lord with us and pray for them to grow in Him and that the Lord will demonstrate His
mighty power in their lives.

Pray for Martha as she continues discipling Octavia, Gary’s sister and for Jamie as she
has begun a Bible study with Amy, a younger teen girl in our village.

John 16:24 Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. What greater joy can we
experience but to know the Lord chooses us to do His works. Praise the Lord!
