Family of Communications Processors

The Atlanta 100 product family is a highly integrated product

The Atlanta 100TM provides best-in-class
performance, at the lowest power and bill-
of-materials (BOM) cost, for a range of
applications that require IP packet routing,
encryption, and media processing processing
at rates up to 100 Mbps. These applications
include secure broadband gateways, media/
analog terminal adaptors (M/ATA), and Voice
over IP - Digital Enhanced Cordless Tele-
communications (VoIP-DECT) phones.
The level of voice-quality and features
incorporated into the Atlanta 100 product
family enables service providers to increase
their revenue opportunities by offering
consumers a toll-quality VoIP experience
with advanced features such as global phone
number portability, virtual phone numbers,
iron clad security, superior echo cancellation
and a host of other new features not
available with traditional phone service. In
turn, consumers will be able to enjoy the
benefits of economical, go-anywhere
telephony combined with a wide variety
family that combines a RISC processor, a digital signal
processor (DSP), and encryption and a packet acceleration
engines that enable 100 Mbps, wire speed router throughput
performance for Ethernet frames as small as 64 bytes while
simultaneously supporting virtual private network (VPN)
services and four channels of deep compression codecs or
eight channels of G.711.
This product family integrates a DSP core for voice
processing which has four execution units with VLIW (very-
long instruction word) architecture, an 8-Kbyte instruction
cache, a 16-Kbyte data cache, and is supported by DMA and
hardware messaging facilities. The firmware for the DSP core
is included in the SDK and supports extensive voice
compression and processing capabilities.
