About Bharathiar University
The Bharathiar University was established by the ACT of Government of Tamilnadu in 1982. The University
named after the great national poet Subramania Bharathi is enshrined with the motto “Educate to Elevate”.
Bharathiar University is ranked as second among the universities offering science and humanities
programme. The reaccreditation process was completed and university maintained its top ten in the
country. As one of the two universities from India Bharathiar University was invited to be a member of
ABEST 21, a Japan based accreditation agency carrying out the accreditation process for the management
institutions in Asia and South- East Asia.
BSMED to make a mark in the corporate world. The alliance on business education
and scholarships tomorrow, the 21st century organization (a best of 21) has invited
to become a member in the accreditation and education programmes. BSMED is
the second B-School and Bharathiar University is the second university all over
India to have such a benefit. Innovation without application is not a healthy
practice. However the current batch of students is healthy in their application of
knowledge and skills through the event management of annual events and series of
national level seminars and participation in various activities organized by
institution all over India.
As per the trend greater numbers of students are looking for job in finance and marketing. The alumni have
proved that the training and orientation at BSMED is different. In the same token the corporate also look for the
candidate with the difference. I hope and wish the present batch of student to meet the expectation of the corporate
and would prove their work through deliverables at their respective organization and bring glory to the school. I also

Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development, the management department of Bharathiar
University, in its glorious journey of 26 years, the school has carved a niche for itself in the field of management
education. It has been recognized by the UGC as a “Centre for Excellence” for teaching and research in management.

Dr. R. VENKATAPATHY
Director and Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences. Specialized in the field of Entrepreneurship,
Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management & Leadership. 29 years of Teaching & Research
Experience. 15 Research Scholars have successfully completed Ph.D., three completed DBA & 25 completed
M.Phil., under his guidance. Contributed 7 books and 68 Research Articles. Participated and chaired several
International and National level workshops and seminars. Served as Associate Dean, Faculty of Management
Multimedia University, Malaysia. Also served as the coordinator for Doctor of Business Administration and
Master of Business Administration Programme. Served as a coordinator from Bharathiar University for the
World Tamil Classic Conference, 2010.
Dr.R. SHANMUGAM
Professor in Management teaching Finance and Investment Courses. Served as Director, MBA
Programme of National University, Rwanda (2002-2004). Director of Research & Consulting at School of
Finance & Banking, Rwanda (Oct 2006 - Nov 2007). Has produced 4 PhD's and 17 M.Phil and more than 20
research articles in the area of Finance and Investments in National and International Journals. Has published
four books in Finance and Investment areas.
Dr. P. THIRUMAVALAVAN
He is the Registrar of Bharathiar University. He has 33 years of teaching experience. He has served as Dean
at college of Business Studies, A1 Ghariar University, Dubai for 4 ½ years and lead the college to attain AACSB
accreditation . Started his career as Assistant Professor in Aditanar College and served as lecturer in Madurai
Kamaraj University for 10 years. Later he joined this school as Reader. He is teaching in the area of Finance and
Corporate Finance.
Dr. K. VIVEKANANDAN
Professor in Management. 11 Research Scholars have successfully completed Ph.D., & 12 completed
M.Phil., under his guidance. He has published more than 25 articles in National and International Journals. He
has early worked as associate professor in National University of Rwanda and as faculty in Sultanate of Oman.
His area of interest includes Data Mining, Information Systems and Business Analytics.
Dr. V. KUBENDRAN
Professor in Management. Worked in different academic positions in department of management
studies at many engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu for 14 years. Having industrial experience in Government
sector for a period of 13 years. He is teaching in the area of Human Resource and legal aspects. Published more
than 12 research articles in National and International Journals.

Dr. AJOY MATHEW
Associate Professor in Management. Formerly Assistant Professor IIM, Kozhikode (1998). Research
Associate in IIM, Ahemadabad, Research officer in IIRDS, Kottayam, visited USA on invitation by Bureau of
Education and Culture, U.S. State Department on “International Visitor Programme on Trade and World
Economy”. He has 24 years of teaching experience.
Dr. S. SANKARANARAYANAN
Associate Professor in Management. He served National Textile Corporation as marketing executive
prior to joining BSMED. He has been a resource person for ITCOT, SISI and PMRY Entrepreneurship Training
Programs. He also guides Ph.D., and M.Phil., Research Scholars. He has 23 years of teaching and research
experience. He is teaching in the area of Marketing, Market Logistics, Retail Management, Marketing
Communication and Services Marketing. Participated in National and International Conferences and published
research articles in reputed management journals.
Dr. RUPA GUNASEELAN
Reader in Management. She has 14 years of teaching and industrial experience. She is Specialized in
the field of Human Resource Development and Organizational Development. She is recognized as guide for
Ph.D., and M.Phil., Programmes of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore & Alagappa University, Karaikudi. She
is also a UGC certified Trainer to offer training to women managers in higher education. She has published 11
articles in various journals and magazines. She is also functioning as a peer-reviewed panel member for the
management journal of International repute.
Dr .S. MAHALINGAM
He served as the Vice Principal at Institute of Co-operative Management, Nagpur. (A unit of National
council for Co-operative training under the Ministry of Agriculture Government of India). Has 21 years of
teaching, training consultancy and research experience. He is teaching in the area of Marketing, Consumer
Behavior and Entrepreneur Development. He published research articles in reputed management journals.
Dr. K. MALAR MATHI
Reader in Management. She has 3 years of teaching experience in BSMED. Doctoral degree from
Allahabad Agriculture Institute deemed University. Has done a major work on Supply Chain Management of
Guava in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh. A prior work experience of six years in imparting management
education at Allahabad Agriculture Institute. She is teaching in Marketing and Operations Management. She has
organised many national seminars and training programme. Recently she has released a book on 'Social
Entrepreneurship Strategies for Nation Building (edited volume)'.She is currently running a project on tribals of
the Nilgiris district sponsored by UGC, New Delhi.
