A special welcome to today, especially if you are a visitor
• The morning service is usually projected and so no books are required. For those who prefer, printed
sheets are available containing the songs.
• There is a crèche throughout the service in the lower lounge. For older children there is Sunday School
(age 3-9) and Covies (age 10-18). Children leave for these before the reading
Prayer Ministry is available at all Sunday services with a particular provision at Communion service.

Please move to the front after the service or speak to a member of the Prayer Ministry team.
• It is our policy not to take public collections, but if you wish to give towards the work of St. Cuthbert’s
please use the offertory box. If you are a tax payer please think about completing a Gift Aid declaration
Ten per cent of all that we receive is in turn given away to the following mission agencies: OMF, CMS &
Crosslinks. We also support YFC/ Covies, Careforce & The Message.

God our redeemer, who prepared the virgin Mary to be the mother of your Son: grant that,
as she looked for his coming as our saviour, so we may be ready to greet him when he
comes again as our judge; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Help setting up for the Carol Service
Help is needed on the morning of Sunday 19 December setting up for the Carol service and

The Nativity
This week BBC1 is screening a new peak-time dramatisation of
The Nativity story. It's been retold by the Eastenders screen-
writer Tony Jordan and made by Kudos, the company behind
Spooks, in four 30 minute programmes on BBC 1 7pm each
evening from Monday 20th until Thursday 23rd December.
Carols at the Printer’s Arms
A chance to raise our voices and a glass as we hold a short Carol service in our local pub.
This is always very well received so please do think about joining us. Please be at the
Printer’s by 8.25pm.
MBG Cinema Trip
This stunning 3D masterpiece is the sequel to the cult 1982 sci-fi hit. Kevin
(Jeff Bridges) - once the world's leading video-game developer - disappeared
25 years ago. When his son Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old
Flynn's Arcade - a signal that could have only have been sent by his father - he
finds himself pulled into the same digital world where Kevin has been trapped
in these past two decades. Alongside the fearless Quorra (Olivia Wilde), Sam
and Kevin must try to escape this deadly video game reality before the
villainous Castor (Michael Sheen) can stop them.

Nativity in the Park
Volunteers are needed to help with this new venture on Christmas Eve which begins at
1.30pm at the Cemetery end of Park Road. If you are able to help organise e.g. with setting
up, stewarding, hospitality, clearing up etc please speak to Mike today. We a hope to utilise
as many of the children from our church Nativity as possible in non-speaking parts – it will
all be narrated – and Mike will be contacting those involved, but if you can get to him first
that would be a help. Also please note that anyone, adult or child, is welcome to turn up in
period costume (we may have a few spares of these available)
St Cuthbert’s Christmas Lunch
As last year we will be serving a turkey lunch with all the trimmings after the service on
Christmas day. This is open to any-one. If you would like to help or attend or know some-
one who would like to come see Tricia or Julie.
Abney 5K Run / Saturday Café
Our next run is on New Year’s Day at 9.30 – see abneycheadlerun.co.uk. The café that day
will be open shorter hours - 10.30-11.30. Volunteers are also needed to steward the course
– please see Gary

Next church lunch will be on January 9th when we look forward to having Paula, Dean,
Joel & Eli with us from Cape Town. Please put the date in your NEW diaries NOW
St Cuthbert’s Houseparty
Please collect and complete, if you have not already done so, the returns form on the
comprehensive leaflet which is now available in the Foyer.
Christmas Cards
The "St Cuthbert's Silver Christmas Tree" is now up in the foyer again for church-based
Christmas cards. Instead of sending loads of cards to church members, just put one on the
silver tree for everyone and put a donation in the wooden box. We sent £120 to Bible-lands
last year supporting needy children in the Holy Land & would like to send more this year.
City Centre Ministries
CCM have a ministry to the destitute and homeless. On
Christmas Day we are inviting people to bring hats, gloves,
scarves and sleeping bags and leave them under the Christmas
tree with a view to distribution to those in need. More details
from Catherine or Mike
Recycling for The Leprosy Mission
Please don’t forget to pas s your Christmas card envelopes (with the stamp still on them)
and holiday postcards to Liz Duxbury - the Leprosy Mission can make a lot of money from
these. Thank you.

The new booklets are now available. Please use for prayer and information and be aware of
the need for confidentiality (you may wish to shred or safely dispose of old copies).
2010 Motto Cards
These are available at the back of church. Do take one as you leave - it comes with
Christmas greetings from the clergy and staff at both our churches.
