INTRODUCTION

1. Background Study

Adultery is sexual intercourse between a spouse and individual to whom they are not married

Adultery is one of crime, and its rejected by many religion in this world, adultery  was
categorized in crime model with the great sin. And who did this action will be stoned to
death, the Islam, Jewish, Christian agree with this punishment.

Not only many religion reject this action but also the health give attention to adultery because
the adultery created many diseases with death risk, AIDS, Syphilis, Herpes, is one of he
diseases cause by adultery.

To limit the discussion of writing in this issue, the writer discuses the adultery only n the
youth generation.

It so happens with the purpose of writing. This paper by title:

“AN ADULTERY IN THE YOUNG GENERATION” to give some information about the
meaning, negative effect, reasoning an the ways to decrease an adultery.

1. Title Explanation

To make it easy and understandable in discussing more about the title , the writer want to
explain the meaning of the title at glance. It consist of main terms which are necessary to be
explained. There are as follow : 1.The Adultery

2.The AIDS After taking those definitions into consideration , the writer draws a conclusion
that title is “AN ADULTERY IN THE YOUNG GENERATION”

adultery occurred in the young generation, negative effect caused by an adultery

The fourth chapter is the ways to decrease adultery in the young generation it explain about
the ways to decrease adultery by our self and the performance of government

The last chapter which be closing. Its contains of the conclusion, suggestion and word ending

adultery

A. The Definition of Adultery

Adultery is extramarital sex, in which a spouse has intercourse with some one out side the
marriage. Adultery  by syara’ is the agency relationship between  man an woman without
marriage, in the book “Al-Hidayah sharh Al-Bidayat Mubtadi” as quoted by Fadhel Ilahi “
stayed that adultery was a man and woman who has intercourse with a woman through qubul
(genitals) that are his wife.

B. Adultery in many perception

1.Various religion
Various religion would reject this fornication, among other :

A. Jewish

Jewish forbids fornication and categorized them as a great sin. The assertion concerning the
prohibition of adultery.

Was mentioned in Bible:

(12) Regard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your
days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.

.(13) You shall not commit murder.

(14) You shall not commit adultery.

(15) You shall not steal.

(16) You shall not witness falsely against your neighbor.

(17) You shall not covet your neighbor's house, your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or
his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.

(Keluaran(Exodus) 20: 12-17)

9) If my heart has been deceived and I made a fool by a woman, or if I have [covetously] laid
wait at my neighbor's door [until his departure]

(10) Then let my wife grind [meal, like a bond slave] for another, and let others bow down
upon her

(11) For [adultery] is a heinous and chief crime, an iniquity [to demand action by] the judges
and punishment.

(Ayub(Job) 31: 9-11)

Such as another religion, Judaism have a law and gives punishment for violator  the Judaism
will sentence an adulterer by a great punishment.

1.Suicide punishment for an adulterer

(10) The man who commits adultery with another's wife, even his neighbor's wife, the
adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
(Imamat(Leviticus) 20:10)

2. Burn to death law

(14) And if a man takes a wife and her mother, it is wickedness and an outrageous offense; all
three shall be burned with fire, both he and they [after being stoned to death], that there be no
wickedness among you.

(Imamat(Leviticus) 20:14)

3. The law stoning to death

This punishment is special for a woman married and do this adultery.

(20) But if it is true that the evidences of virginity were not found in the young woman,

(21) Then they shall bring her to the door of her father's house and the men of her city shall
stone her to death, because she has wrought [criminal] folly in Israel by playing the harlot in
her father's house. So you shall put away the evil from among you

( Ulangan (Deuteronomy) 22:20-21)

And this punishment will give also t a man married and he was commit an a woman

(23) If a maiden who is a virgin is engaged to be married, and a man finds her in the city and
lies with her,

(24) Then you shall bring them both out to the gate of that city and shall stone them to death--
the young woman because she did not cry for help though she was in the city, and the man
because he has violated his neighbor's [promised] wife. So shall you put away evil from
among you.

( Ulangan (Deuteronomy) 22:23-24)

B. Christian

In Christian  opinion ,adultery is a great is and nit classified as an heir to the kingdom of God,
as mentioned in Bible:

(20) You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not
witness falsely, honor your father and your mother.
(Lukas(Luke)18:20)

 (18) Shun immorality and all sexual looseness [flee from impurity in thought, word, or
deed]. Any other sin which a man commits is one outside the body, but he who commits
sexual immorality sins against his own body.

(1 Korintus(1 Corinthians) 6:18)

To the church of Corinth, the Apostle Paul gives advice that God crated a man with
completeness of hi boy, do not a negatives including an adultery.

(13) Food [is intended] for the stomach and the stomach for food, but God will finally end
[the functions of] both and bring them to nothing. The body is not intended for sexual
immorality, but [is intended] for the Lord, and the Lord [is intended] for the body [ to save,
sanctify, and raise it again].

(1 Korintus(1 Corinthians) 6:13)

 The punishment for an adulterer better a man or a woman

1.received  punishment from God

(4) Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially
dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept un dishonored); for God
will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous.

(Ibrani(Hebrews) 13:4)

(6) That no man transgress and overreach his brother and defraud him in this matter or
defraud his brother in business. For the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as we have
already warned you solemnly and told you plainly. .(7) For God has not called us to impurity
but to consecration [to dedicate ourselves to the most thorough purity].

(1 Tesalonika(1 Thessalonians) 4:6-7)

 
2. Fornicators and adulterers shall not be allowed in the kingdom of God.

(9) Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any
share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral,
nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality

(1 Korintus(1 Corinthians) 6:9)

3. Isolation for an adulterer

(9) I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate [closely and habitually] with unchaste
(impure) people

(10) Not [meaning of course that you must] altogether shun the immoral people of this world,
or the greedy graspers and cheats and thieves or idolaters, since otherwise you would need to
get out of the world and human society altogether!

(11) But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian]
brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is
devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing,
abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not
so much as eat with such a person.

(1 Korintus(1 Corinthians) 5:9-11)

The purpose of this isolation is to ashamed the adulterer and repent. Like written in Bible:

(14) But if anyone [in the church] refuses to obey what we say in this letter, take note of that
person and do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.

(2 Tesalonika(2 Thessalonians)3:14)

C. Islam

Adultery in Islam is also regarded as an a repulsive action, as Allah SWT said:

Sahih International:

 
And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil
as a way.

(Surah Al-'Isrā' (The Night Journey) – 32)

In the other Surah Allah SWT says:

Sahih International

Say, ‘My Lord has only forbidden foul deeds, whether open or secret, and sin and wrongful
transgression, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has sent down no
authority, and that you say of Allah that of which you have no knowledge.’

(Surah Al-A'raaf :33)

The punishment for adulterer better a man or a woman

Islam is a perfect religion in this world give some details classification about the punishment
of adultery. There are:

1.Physichal punishment

As know that adultery in Islam was categorized in two classification

A. Muhsan

B. Ghairu Muhsan

A.Muhsan

Allah SWT was decided a punishment for muhsan adulterer .They must stoning to death like
Rasulullah SAW said:

 
 

B. Ghairu muhsan

Ghairu muhsan is an adultery before marriage .The punishment for this categorize is lash
each one of the adulterer with a hundred lashes. Such Allah SWT says in holy Qur’an :

Sahih International:

The [unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse - lash each
one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the religion of
Allah , if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers
witness their punishment.

(Surat An-Nūr (The Light):2)

2. Moral Punishment

In this paper there are several moral punishment and all it was wrote in holy Qur’an

A. Can’t be married

It caused that the adulterer is a hina and Allah SWT dislike with a hina, he grouping a hin a
by a hina and a seorang yang baik dengan orang yang baik juga

Allah SWT said in holy Qur’an:

Sahih International:

The fornicator does not marry except a [female] fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her
except a fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been made unlawful to the believers

(Surat An-Nūr (The Light):3)

 
B. Adultery shame showed to the public

The purpose of this action is to give education for pubic that adultery is some mistake ,and
for adulterer is to added the punish, because the moral punishment is fatter than a physical
punishment, the adulterer will be shy .

Allah SWT says in holy Qur’an:

Sahih International:

……. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

(Surat An-Nūr (The Light):2)

2. Healthy

Like wise health experts adultery was categorized a destroyer self confidence for the  victims
of someone, because the effect of adultery make stress, embarrassment, feeling alienated ,etc

 
 CHAPTER III

ADULTERY IN THE YOUNG GENERATION

A. Why an adultery had been occurred in the  young generation?

There are several reasons, Why adultery had been occurred in the young generation ? The
most common seasons are as follows:

1.Peer Influence of Friend

Friends are part of a social community that helped shape the development of one’s personal,
influence of friend is quickly,. It’s caused a communication between a friend ready
accepted .If the communication was run well, It would be a god influence .but if the
communication was bad, it would be a bad influence.

2. Affectionate parents crisis

There are many parents who busy with their activities, they works from 6 pm and go back to
their homes at 10 am or more. The activities make the child’s lack of love saying. In a time a
child needs a support, love, education, etc. A parents shall nearby to their child’s if needed,
not just busy with several activities.

When Children was fell free, they could plunge into negative things more a youth they will
fin environment and other  communities who want to understand and could appreciate the
willingness of their rights.

3 The influence of mass media

In the Globalization era, mass media is so important for us. Especially for businessmen,
student, politics, etc. By mass media we can get more information , education, or economy
that we need,
But mass media s not only given positive effect but also given a negative effect and the
negative effect may be more than a positive effect. How we can say it?

Many impression on television showed a negative programs such as sex films, western music,
western culture etc.

If western culture was entered to the young generation, they will get  a  negative thing.
Believe or not it’s the reality, even the models or the impression it is very difficult to appear
inevitable but the most important to the parents is controlling  the impression, selected the
impression firstly before your children watch a TV program.

B. the negative effect of adultery

The effects of adultery can prove to be quite challenging to the individual that suffers from
them. There are many different definitions when it comes to the term "adultery". However,
the most common definition is that it is an act and violation of the marriage vows. When an
individual engages in a sexual act of any kind outside the marriage, that person is said to be
an "adulterer". While this is often referred to as "adultery", there are other names by which it
is known. Infidelity and extramarital sex are examples of other names in which this is known
by.

There are negative effect of adultery, and this paper classified in four parts.

1.The negative effect for themselves

2.The negative effect for their society

3.The negative effect for their family

4.The negative effect for their heath

1.The negative effect for themselves

a. Individuals who engage in sexual acts with someone outside of their marriage, often
experience high levels of anxiety and depression once this has been indulged in. This level of
stress not only impacts the mind in a psychological way; it also affects the physiological
make up and parts of the person.

b. By engaging in this act, one may start to experience difficulties in relationships, work,
school, and many other areas.

c. Many who have pursued an adulterous relationship have often found themselves suffering
financial loss as a result of the relationship that is being pursued.
2.The negative effect for their society

Increases of crime

As we know that the adultery is one’s of crime categorizes, some criminality like abortion,
free sex , murder was occurred by this action. And for example abortion has occurred in
many places, such a student of SMK 19 Gedong Panjang, West Jakarta. She was pregnant
with her boy friend and aborted their fetus for cover the mistake.

In Ponorogo Novila Sutiani a student of SMA 1 Ponorogo aborted her fetus for cover the
mistake.

How many person will abort her  fetus?

In a fact the abortion give some health risk, disease , and physical safety to be faced by a
woman, namely:

1. Liver Cancer
2. Ovarian Cancer
3. Cervical Cancer
4. Cervical Lacerations
5. Uterine Perforation
6. Pelvic inflammatory disease
7. Breast Cancer (due to imbalance of estrogen in women
8. Uterine Perforation
9. Endometriosis
10. Placenta Previa

3.The negative effect for their family

 A family ,especially  a father will feels happy when the member of their family followed the
religious guidance. The family will serve as an example or role mode for other family, but
this will turn around  when a family o negative actions or disobedience.

As an example:

A girl in the family is doing adultery, or play in outside home until  mid night. Indirectly
these family will be ostracized an reviled by society ,because of her actions earlier and the
parents will fell ashamed an bear the mental burden on society, this family is also difficult to
restore the good name of family and faith from community

4.The negative effect for their heath

 
We cant’ say again how many various diseases, spears caused of this adultery. in our ears we
known the classification of AIDS, a leading cause of death .its just one of diseases from
adultery  actions, in fact there are various diseases except the AIDS such:

Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, Genital herpes, Syphilis etc.

a. AIDS

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome

o     Acquired means you can get infected with it;

o     Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body's system that fights diseases.

o     Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease

AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV, (the Human Immunodeficiency Virus)

Some people will get fever, headache, sore muscles, and joints, stomach ache, swollen lymph
glands or skin rash for one or two weeks. If the were infected by HIV , h Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 1-1,2 million US residents are living with HIV
infection or AIDS, about a quarter of them do not know they have it, about 74%of the 40.000 
new infections are in Black. Even though they make up only 12% f the US population .in the
mid of 1990 AIDS was a leading cause of death.

In Indonesia many people was death by this disease.

b. Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea

is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Gonorrhea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a

bacterium that can grow and multiply easily in the warm, moist areas of the reproductive
tract, including the cervix (opening to the womb), uterus (womb), and fallopian tubes (egg
canals) in women, and in the urethra (urine canal) in women and men. The bacterium can also
grow in the mouth, throat, eyes, and anus.

How common is Gonorrhea ?

Gonorrhea is a very common infectious disease.  CDC estimates that more than 700,000
persons in the U.S. get new gonorrheal infections each year. Only about half of these
infections are reported to CDC. In 2006, 358,366 cases of gonorrhea were reported to CDC.
In the period from 1975 to 1997, the national gonorrhea rate declined, following the
implementation of the national gonorrhea control program in the mid-1970s. After several
years of stable gonorrhea rates, however, the national gonorrhea rate increased for the second
consecutive year. In 2006, the rate of reported gonorrheal infections was 120.9 per 100,000
persons.

c. Trichomoniasis

Trichomoniasis

 is a common sexually transmitted disease (STD) that affects both women and men, although
symptoms are more common in women.

How common is Trichomoniasis ?

Trichomoniasis is the most common curable STD in young, sexually active women. An
estimated 7.4 million new cases occur each year in women and men.

d. Genital herpes

Genital herpes

 is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1)
or type 2 (HSV-2). Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. Most individuals have no or
only minimal signs or symptoms from HSV-1 or HSV-2 infection. When signs do occur, they
typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters
break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they
occur. Typically, another outbreak can appear weeks or months after the first, but it almost
always is less severe and shorter than the first outbreak.  Although the infection can stay in
the body indefinitely, the number of outbreaks tends to decrease over a period of years.

How common is Genital herpes ?

Results of a nationally representative study show that genital herpes infection is common in
the United States. Nationwide, 16.2%, or about one out of six, people 14 to 49 years of age
have genital HSV-2 infection. Over the past decade, the percentage of Americans with genital
herpes infection in the U.S. has remained stable.

Genital HSV-2 infection is more common in women (approximately one out of five women
14 to 49 years of age) than in men (about one out of nine men 14 to 49 years of age).
Transmission from an infected male to his female partner is more likely than from an infected
female to her male partner.
e. Syphilis

Syphilis

is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. It has
often been called “the great imitator” because so many of the signs and symptoms are
indistinguishable from those of other diseases.

How common is Syphilis  ?

In the United States, health officials reported over 36,000 cases of syphilis in 2006, including
9,756 cases of primary and secondary (P&S) syphilis. In 2006, half of all P&S syphilis cases
were reported from 20 counties and 2 cities; and most P&S syphilis cases occurred in persons
20 to 39 years of age. The incidence of P&S syphilis was highest in women 20 to 24 years of
age and in men 35 to 39 years of age. Reported cases of congenital syphilis in newborns
increased from 2005 to 2006, with 339 new cases reported in 2005 compared to 349 cases in
2006.

Between 2005 and 2006, the number of reported P&S syphilis cases increased 11.8 percent.
P&S rates have increased in males each year between 2000 and 2006 from 2.6 to 5.7 and
among females between  2004 and 2006.  In 2006, 64% of the reported P&S syphilis cases
were among men who have sex with men (MSM).

 
 CHAPTER IV

THE WAYS TO DECREASE AN ADULTERY

There are several causes of adultery with the negative effect, AIDS, Syphilis etc. We should
solve his problem quickly.

A. From our self

1.  Abstain from sexual intercourse

DR. R Wilcock [1] said:

“ The surest way to avoid transmission of STDs is to abstain from sexual intercourse” This
argumentation supported by dr. Luther Terry, dr. King, dr. Hoffland.

It’s mean that the adultery and some disease will lose from our environment if we want stay
away totally.     

2. Straighten your perception that love I not sex totally and x I not love is no totally

A lot of young people girls trapped in this perception because of fear of losing a couple. They
want to o what is asked by her boy friend including an adultery action, we must straighten
this think

3.Pray to Allah SWT

As the Moslem people, we should pray to Allah SWT for avoid falling prey the negative
things. When we near to our God, everything will be fine Our self will be avoid from the
negative thing.

4.Fasting and Marriage

The last solution is fasting and marriage. Fasting will decrease our sexual, it’s because the
fasting make some nutrition the body is less.

B. Government performance

 
1.Apply the pornography laws

With the existence of this law the government expected the public a ware of what is
pornography and stay away from anything associated with pornography or adultery

2.apply the sex education early

By applying the sex education early is expected to more youth to know about sex, both in
terms of positive or negative, as well as diseases arising from adultery as to prevent and avoid
free sex.

 
 CHAPTER V

CLOSING

A. Conclusion

After having discussed all thing the subject matters, the writer comes to the final Conclusion,
that is:

1.The adultery is ones of crime categorize with the great sin and this crime is rejected by any
religion in this world. Some argumentation of the Qur’an, Bible, forbid the adultery action.

2.there are many negative effects caused by adultery such for our health, family, society and
also for our self in our future or physic.

B Suggestion

The suggestion here are for all people especially for:

1.Young people

1. Maintaining relationship
2. Doing positive activities ( to decrease a negative action)
3. Maintain aurat (for female)
4. Strengthening faith

2.Parent

a.   Watching the child interaction

b.   Assist and provide encouragement to children when getting a problem

c.   Control the activities of children outside the house

3. Government
a.   The government should give performance to decrease an adultery by gaw up a budget
budgeting to improve sex education early.

C. Word ending

No word being able to be out of from the author’s tongue. But the words of expressing his
