Analysis of JMET by ZIONEDUCATION

Sometimes I feel biased, that is what true when it comes for JMET. Ya, only engineers can give. They have
edge over other candidates because they have more colleges to apply. Never mind after giving this paper in
series I felt this year paper setters are checking accuracy and speed rather than going for concepts and basics.
All in all paper wasn’t so difficult and came up with no surprise. So lets analyze section by section.

A) LR(Easiest of all : 30 Q’s : 35 min) : I found if anyone would have started with this section would
have made fortunes. There was not a single question which you would have left in this paper. To start
with, we would have started with the set of 4 students with MBA project presentations one. Why, this is
the set which is exactly picked up from 2005 JMET. Then we would have moved to family tree set
which has 5 question and all were doable. Then we would tried ice cream set and then would have
moved to set of 5 friends belonging to different nation. Lastly we would have picked rest of the sets. We
need to be cautious while handling statement and assumptions sets because sometime they get you into
trap.So

Good Attempt: 22 ------ 26 Q’s.

Cut OFF: 12 ----- 15 marks.

B) Verbal( Moderate : 30 Q’s : 45 min) : This section was something which was checking your nerves
and state of mind. Why, reason is simple 12 Q’s from vocabulary that too good one. Even after
remembering 2600 words in vocab, I found that I wasn’t able to answer all the questions accurately. So
this is one of the road blocks which would go to hamper your speed and no of attempts. Advantage was
reading comprehensions were small and you can bang on them. There were 2 Q’s which were meant to
give you free no’s and they were on Para jumble & incorrectly spelt. Secondly there were few questions
on grammar, which I always feel that they are trap for students. We think that we knew how to handle
them, but when it comes to mark correct option then we mark wrong one. So verbal was not actually
easy. So

Good Attempt: 17 ---- 20 Q’s.

Cut off: 9 ----- 11 marks.

C) Quant (Good one: 30 Q’s: 45 min): This section is the key to approach one of the IIT’s. If you are able
to crack this, then no one can stop you getting calls from various IIT’s. This there were only few
question from higher math. We would have attempted topics like no system in which there was question
on divisor, then there were few question on P & C, probability. There was question on ratio and
proportion which was again on doable part. There was again 2 Q’s from TSD which were doable and
can fetch some marks. Especially questions from arithmetic were doable. So we need to bang on
them.So

Good Attempt: 15 ---- 18 Q’s.

Cut off: 7 ------ 9 marks.

D) DI(Ok: 30 Q’s : 45 min) : This is something which check your eye span.So, I say girls always have an
edge over boys because they have big eye span. Jokes apart, we need to scan and find those key sets
which without wasting our crucial time would give us some marks. To start with you would have picked
set of India’s import and export, then we would have moved to pharmaceutical one’s. After that we
would have picked sets like pie chart on CSR and venn diagram on management insti. This again helped
us to fetch some marks. Try to avoid pie chart on NIM and set on GSp one because they involved some
calculation. So this kind of strategy helped us to come out with flying colors in this section. So:

Good Attempt : 17 ----- 20 Q’s

Cut off: 10 -------- 12 marks.

Students remember now we are left with last crucial 10 mins. Try to give these 10 min that section in
which aren’t able to clear the cut offs or try to give to that section through which we can maximize our
score.

Institute Specific:

a) IIT Bombay: 77 --------- 81 marks.

b) IIT Delhi: 72 --------- 75 marks.

c) IIT Kharagpur: 67 --------- 70 marks.

d) IIT Kanpur: 65 --------- 68 marks.

e) IIT Madras: 62 --------- 65 marks.

f) IIT Roorkee: 57 --------- 61 marks.

Rest we will be updating you guys on the cut offs. Keep following us on Facebook, Twitter, You tube and
various sites.
