Exploration
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Mini-Map
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
This is the small map situated on the upper right-hand corner of
the screen. It conveys information such as the direction you are
facing, the surrounding terrain, enemy units and your destination.
Venturing inside an enemy's detection radius will cause the map to
flash a warning. The min map legends are as follows.
* Party Leader - Represented by a blue diamond.
* Ally - Represented by a white dot.
* Enemy - Represented by a red dot.
* Alerted Enemy - Represented by a flashing red dot.
* Slain Enemy - Represented by a red "x".
* Destination - Represented by an orange "!".
* Destination Direction - Represented by a yellow arrow.
When viewing the map with [], use the left stick to scroll the map;
the right stick to zoom in or out; press down on the left stick to
center the map on your current location; and [] to view details
regarding an active mission.
Indicators
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
In the course of your travels, you'll come across two main types
of indicators. Blue indicators indicate the ability to leap from
the highlighted area to another location, while red indicators
serve as important hints. Stepping on the latter will either
trigger an event or bring up a message indicating that an action
is possible.
In certain places, you may also find rare yellow indicators
which denote terrain that only chocobos can traverse.
Chocobo Riding
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Wild chocobos are a common sight in the lowerworld of Gran Pulse,
and may be ridden by approaching one and pressing X. When you
come in contact with an enemy while riding, the chocobo will lose
one unit of morale. Should a chocobo lose all of its morale, it
will throw its rider and flee. Otherwise, lost morale will
gradually return, so long as no more close encounters occur.
Take note that a certain mission must be completed before you are
able to ride chocobos.
Save Stations
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Game progress can be saved at one of the many save stations
scattered throughout the game, and are marked by a blue "S" on both
the mini map and map screen. Approach one, press X and pick 'Save'.
In addition to saving your progress, save stations also allow you
to buy and sell items. Press X to open the menu in the above manner
then selet 'Shop'. A list of retail networks will be displayed so
choose the one with which you wish to trade. The number of networks
available to you will be limited at first, but this can be expanded
by obtaining certain key items.
Upgrading Equipment
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
It is possible to upgrade weapons and accessories at Save Stations
using the various components you collect on your journey.
* < Upgrading >
First, access a Save Station then select 'Upgrade' from the menu
to access the workbench. Next, select the weapon or accessory
you wish to improve. You will need to select the type of
component you wish to use for the upgrade, as well as the
quantity. The combined EXP value of the chosen components will
then be applied to the target piece of equipment and may grant an
EXP multiplier. After enough EXP has been spent on an equipment,
its level will increase, improving its abilities and attributes.
* < Transforming >
Once a particular piece of equipment has reached its maximum
potential, its level will be replaced by a star. At this point,
no further level advancement is possible, but the item can be
transformed into an entirely different one by means of
specialized components. When this happens, both its name and
properties will change. A newly transformed item may initially
seem weaker than it did in its previous form, but unlike its
fully upgraded predecessor, it will be elligible for level
advancement. Through further upgrades, it can be made even more
powerful than its earlier incarnation.
* < Dismantling >
Unwanted equipment can be scrapped for parts by selecting
'Dismantle'. The equipment itself will be destroyed, but you will
be able to salvage components and items, some of which can be
obtained in no other way. There exists over 100 different
components. Obtain as many as possible and experiment with their
effects in order to determine the most efficient and effective
ways to customize your arsenal.
Enemy Encounters
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Hostile units each have their own field of vision and are on
constant watch for intruders into their territory. By venturing
into their surveillance perimeter, you run the risk of detection.
Enemies that have been alerted to your presence will appear with an
"!" overhead, and will either display aggression or behave with
caution. Making contact with such an enemy will trigger a
transition to the battle screen. It is possible to initiate a
preemptive strike by catching a foe off guard.
Shrouds
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Shrouds are special single-use aerosols that grant the party
tactical advantages. A variety of Shrouds exist, each conferring
unique benefits to your party such as enhanced offensive or
defensive power. Though they can be extremely effective, forward
thinking is required in their application, as Shrouds can only be
used outside of battle.
Battles
~~~~~~~
Commands
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Each command depletes your ATB gauge by a predetermined amount. The
list of available commands during battle are as follows.
* Auto Battle - Stock a set of situationally appropriate commands.
The Auto Battle option available varies depending
on the character's combat role.
* Abilities - Select commands to add to the queue. Select
'Repeat' by holding the -> directional button to
have the character perform the same command
sequence used previously.
* Techniques - Spend TP to use Techniques.
* Items - Use items. This action does not deplete ATB gauge.
Techniques
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Techniques are powerful abilities that cost TP to execute, and can
be use independent of the ATB gauge. TP can be gained by either
unleashing successful ability chains or by earning a favorable
evaluation at the end of battle. Items and shrouds can also be used
to instantly replenish your party's TP.
Attack Chains
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Each successful attack on an enemy charges its chain gauge
increasing the associated chain bonus. A higher chain bonus will
enable you to inflict greater damage on your foe. The gauge
gradually decreases over time so concentrating your attacks on a
single target is recommended. Hitting an enemy when its chain gauge
has peeked will invoke the stagger status -- a state that allows
you to inflict consistent critical damage on a target.
Paradigm Basics
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
It is possible to assign each character with one of six roles.
Changing a character's role will alter the abilities available to
that character as well as their behavior in combat. Combinations of
role assignments are known as "paradigms".
You can execute a paradigm shift during battle by pressing L1 to
open the paradigm deck, choose a new paradigm and confirm. You can
also assign roles to your characters through the 'Customize' tab
within the Paradigm submenu.
Eidolons
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
* < Engaging and Subduing Eidolons >
To harness the power of an Eidolon, one must first prove their
worth by subduing it in battle. As you deal damage to an Eidolon
its gestalt gauge will gradually increase. Keep attacking until
the gauge peeks and press [] to claim the Eidolon.
* < Summoning Eidolons >
Characters who have claimed dominion over their personal Eidolon
will learn the Summon technique. Summoned Eidolons will remain
on the field until its SP gauge is depleted -- this depletes
gradually over time or when the Eidolon takes damage.
Gestalt Mode
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Once an Eidolon has been summoned you may press [] to enter
Gestalt Mode. This mode will remain in effect until the gestalt
gauge is completely depleted. To charge the gestalt gauge, execute
attack chains with your Eidolon. Be sure to do this prior to
engang Gestalt Mode to maximize its effectivity time.
Controls in gestalt mode differ from standard battle controls,
using combinations of left analog stick motions and button presses
to execute an array of attacks. Alternatively, Auto Gestalt allows
you to leave the choice to your Eidolon by pressing the confirm
button if you find yourself at a loss for your next move.
Be aware that using abilities in gestalt mode will reduce your
gestalt gauge by the amount displayed to the left of the ability
name. When the gauge reaches 0, your Eidolon will be dismissed.
Chains and staggers will be reset upon dismissal from gestalt mode
but in return your party will return to the fray fully healed and
cured of all status ailments.

awaken as you complete the available quests. Some of the stones
require certain prerequisites to unlock. You can retry any
previously completed quests by examining their Cie'th stones.

Mission 01 - Pond Scum
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Electopudding
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Reward : Energy Sash
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core
Summary : The gelatinous rube beside that pond is the very
Ectopudding I seek! I need only slay it to avoid
becoming a Cie'th.
How many years must it have been since I left the
village in pursuit of that vile pest? My brand
will not wait forever I must kill it, and quick.
And then when I awaken from my crystal slumber, I
can help repair the ruin it left in its wake.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This should be a quick one. Try to sneak up
behind it for s preemptive strike, cast Libra
before finally shifting to Tri-disaster. Spam
lightning and say bye bye!

Mission 02 - Goodwill Hunting
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Uridimmu
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 01
Reward : Cobaltite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : Time runs short. Today is the day I put an end to
that troublesome Uridimmu! The problem, I fear,
will be the pack of loyal Gorgonopsid. The master
alone is a worthy enough foe. Must I face the
hounds as well?
Alas... it must be so, so be it.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This mark is accompanied by 4 Gorgonopsids which
can inflict Poison. Just have a paradigm with a
Medic at hand and shift when needed. Quickly
eliminate the minions with Relentless Assault
(COM/RAV/RAV). For the mark, switch to
Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV), cast Libra and spam
lightning spells.

___________________________________________________________________
Mission 03 - Massif Contamination
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Ugallu
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif Tsubaddran Highlands
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 02
Reward : Platinum Bangle
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 3
Summary : I must hurry to the Yachas Massif. For the Ugallu
--lord of its peaks--is my prey. Yet those peaks
loom distant on the horizon, and already my limbs
refuse the urgings of my mind. Please, obey but
for a few days more!
Would that I could still the passage of time...
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This one has far greater HP compared to the first
two marks. Not that it's a problem though. Ugallu
is weak to ice and wind so have your most potent
mages (Hope and Vanille) plus Snow spam ice
spells on it until the target staggers. Don't
forget to use Libra as well. Ugallu's Virulent
Breath attack inflicts Poison so Medics should
use Esuna when needed.

Mission 04 - A Hero's Charge
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Adroa
Stone Location : Yaschas Massif Tsubaddran Highlands
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif The Ascendant Scarp
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 02
Reward : Pearl Necklace
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : You mean to tell me my focus is to hunt that
one-eyed Adroa that plagues the Ascendant Scarp?
Did I really need to be made a l'Cie to go
hunting? Did I not do that everyday? Are l'Cie
not meant to fight Cocoon? Is that not the
reason I left, boasting of the feats of heroism
I would accomplish?
Am I never to return home again?
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This could get annoying if you don't deal with
the Verdelet quickly as it can summon friends,
thereby prolonging the battle. Adroas also use
level 3 spells, so cast Shell along with any
elemental protection spells you may have on
everybody. Libra is a must too. Using Fog also
helps as it prevents the use of magic spells.

Mission 05 - Joyless Reunion
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Edimmu
Stone Location : Yachas Massif - The Ascendant Scarp
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif Tsumitran Basin
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 03
Reward : Sorcerer's Mask
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 5
Summary : So I'm to rid the world of Edimmu. She was
prowling the Tsumitran Basin last I heard.
Perhaps it is time to pay her a final visit, and
join her as a Cie'th. I could not bear to raise
a weapon against my own wife, after all. Not even
if her mind id no longer her own.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Edimmu halves damage from physical and magic
attacks at least until you stagger it. Alternate
between Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) and
Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) to fill the chain
gauge quickly.

Mission 06 - No Place Like Home
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Munchkin Maestro
Stone Location : Yaschas Massif Paddraean Archaeopolis
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif The Pass of Paddra
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 03
Reward : Fulmen Ring
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : At last, reason to be thankful for the gift of
l'Cie power! I am charged with slaying a Munchkin
Maestro the very creature which brought
devastation to the home I left behind.
When I have put an end to this demon, and saved
the village... please bear my crystal to the
forum. There I shall rest, never to leave my
beloved home again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The Maestro is joined by 4 Munchkins, all of
which are brutes. Cast Protect on everybody and
start hammering away on the minions. Bravery
helps speed things up a lot so by all means use
it. Again cast Libra and have your mages spam
ice or wind spells on the mark. It also has a
rather low stagger point; Tri-disaster should
fill the gauge real quick.

Mission 07 - Betuitus, The Pillager
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Bituitus
Stone Location : Yaschas Massif Paddraean Archaeopolis
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif Paddraean Archaeopolis
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 03
Reward : R&D Depot Shop Card
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 5
Summary : The Undying -- fearsome Cie'th that defy fal'Cie
will, driven by an intense loathing of all that
lives. The pillager, Bituitus, is of their number
and it is my fate to seal his.
Villagers that survived the war remain unsafe,
for his path of destruction sweeps through them
all. Even my own fell before him. The demon is
said to make his fastness in the Paddraean
Archaeopolis, but he will find no sanctuary from
me there.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : My party here is Vanille, Hope, and Lightning but
you can replace Vanille with Fang if she already
has Deshell since a second Commando is definitely
welcome. Anyway, start with Evened Odds (SAB/SYN/
MED) and have your Saboteur stick Slow, Deshell
and Imperil depending on who you're using. The
Synergist should cast Protect, Shell, and
Barthunder, while the Medic heals your party.
For offense use Aggression (COM/COM/RAV),
Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) and Tri-disaster
(RAV/RAV/RAV). Salvation (MED/MED/MED) and
Recuperation (SYN/MED/MED) are recommended for
healing paradigms.

Mission 08 - The Eleventh Hour
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Rakshasa
Stone Location : Vallis Media Base Camp
Mark Location : Vallis Media Atzilut's Tears
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 05
Reward : Collector's Catalog
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : A Rakshasa lurks along the route to the Yachas
Massif, and I'm supposed to hunt it down? I
think I'll pass! It's crystal or Cie'th, my life
is over anyway I might as well make the most of
it! From here on out, I live for me!
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Another quick battle here. Start off by killing
the minion Flans first then have your Saboteur
cast Deshell and Slow on the mark, while the
Synergist bestows Protect and Shell on your
party. Use Libra if you haven't already done so
and shift to Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV). Spam
lightning until the mark staggers and dies.
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
Mission 09 - Heave-Ho
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Kaiser Behemoth
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 04
Reward : Rhodochrosite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 3
Summary : Even with the power of l'Cie -- a Kaiser
Behemoth? Really? So I have the choice of being
gored to death beside that pond, or wandering the
wilds as an eternally damned Cie'th? Lovely.
All those years of hard work and careful planning
for this! I should have lived more for the moment
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : I hate Behemoths. Your best bet is to just pop a
Deceptisol, stagger the creature and kill it with
a pair of Commandos and a Ravager (Aggression) or
a trio of Commandos (Cerberus).
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
Mission 10 - Hollow Hope
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Ambling Bellows
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 05
Reward : Super Conductor x 4
Secondary Rew : Thrust Bearing x 3
Summary : The war claimed my family.
The war claimed my home.
This focus is my last remaining hope.
I long for the release of crystal sleep. Perhaps
when I wake, the world will be a better place. I
should hurry and destroy the Ambling Bellows
raising havoc on the steppe's Northern Highplain
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Nothing too hard. Pop a Deceptisol to score a
preemptive strike, stagger, launch mark into the
air and spam lightning spells.
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
Mission 11 - Pride Before a Fall
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Adroa
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 05
Reward : Frost Ring x 2
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : My focus this time appears to be dispatching an
Adroa in the Archylte Steppe. I don't know how
many years have passed since the fal'Cie last
called upon me, but there seem to be more beasts
about.
Not that it matters. Provided that I can complete
my Focus and retain my master's favor. I will
never die. And a little hardship is a small price
to pay for an eternity of peaceful dreaming.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : I hate these things too and there are six of them
this time. All I did really was to bring Hope in
and summoned Alexander to kill everything.
___________________________________________________________________
___________________________________________________________________
Mission 12 - Geiseric, The Profane
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Geiseric
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Arid Strath
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Western Benchland
Prerequisite : Clear Missions 05 & 07
Reward : Royal Armlet
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 5
Summary : The Undying -- fearsome Cie'th that defy fal'Cie
will, driven by an intense loathing of all that
lives. The profane, Geiseric, is of their number
and my Focus is his doom. He is said to lead a
horde of Cie'th on the steppe's Western
Benchland.
To think that you would become such a Cie'th,
Geiseric! You, who could not harm a fly. Whatever
part of you lingers in that grotesque prison of
crystal and flesh must suffer. I will set you
free my friend.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The mark has 702,000 HP and looks intimidating.
For paradigms, I recommend Salvation (MED/MED/MED)
Evened Odds (SAB/SYN/MED), Relentless Assault
(COM/RAV/RAV) and Aggression (COM/COM/RAV). Have
Fang as your Saboteur since she has Slow.
This thing is weak to all elements, halves magic
and resists physical attacks. Start the battle
with Evened Odds until Slow sticks and your party
has Protect, then switch to Relentless Assault to
build on the chain gauge until the mark staggers.
At this point, fill the gauge about halfway and
shift to Aggression, piling up damage. Don't
forget to use Libra, and always, always heal with
Salvation immediately after Geiseric uses its
Dominating Fist attack.

Mark : Goblin Chieftain
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 12
Reward : Cobaltite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 4
Summary : It is a cruel, contemptible contest the fal'Cie
have devised, but one from which I may not yet
absent myself. We assembled l'Cie must overcome
innumerable obstacles as we compete to slay the
Goblin Chieftain on the Northern Highplain. The
prize? Freedom from bondage as a l'Cie.
I will win, be made human again, and return to
propose to my lover, from whose arms the tyrant
fal'Cie stole me.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The mark is accompanied by 3 Goblins which are
once again, mostly brutes. As always, kill off
the minions before focusing on the chieftain.
Build on the chain gauge with Relentless Assault
(COM/RAV/RAV) until the target staggers.
You should also have a Synergist ready to buff
your party with Protect, while Medics should be
called to heal when needed.

‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Sahagin
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Western Benchland
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Font of Namva
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 13
Reward : Gysahl Reins
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 3
Summary : A Sahagin infestation threatens the steppe
chocobos who roost at the Font of Namva -- those
gentle souls I've known since I was a child!
The great and merciful fal'Cie heard my plea, and
granted me the power to save them. I may never
again be able to feel the warmth of their golden
down, but I can think of no happier way to spend
eternity than watching over them from the water's
edge.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This pair of Sahagin is joined by a pair of
Ceratosaurs. Your main concern here is their
speed. This entire group attacks so fast. Start
with Recuperation (SYN/MED/MED) and hold out
until everybody has Protect, Shell, and if at
all possible, Faith. Next, switch to Tri-disaster
(RAV/RAV/RAV) and spam the Sahagins with lightning
until they're gone. Heal with Doc's Code enhanced
Potions at this point.

Mark : Goblin Chieftain
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 12
Reward : Survivalist Catalog
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 4
Summary : There are other l'Cie who share my Focus. The
first to complete it is the winner, with freedom
from this l'Cie fate as his prize. But for all
who have tried, none have yet survived.
...So I guess that will make me the first! No
more being a fal'Cie fool for me! Just need to
take out the Goblin Chieftain on the Northern
Highplain near the range of the Behemoth King...
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The mark is joined by a whole army of goblin
minions. As always, Protect should come up first
then waste all the cronies with an attack-all
ability such as Ruinga, etc. Once they're all
gone, deal with the mark as you see fit.

Mark : Sahagin
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Font of Namva
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 12
Reward : Rhodochrosite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 4
Summary : My dear, sweet sister set out with her grandoise
dream of saving the chocobos, but never returned.
I have sought her crystal high and low, but it is
nowhere to be found. Can it be that she turned
Cie'th? No she will return... she must. But until
she does, there is no one to defend the flock.
Perhaps if I complete her Focus, the fal'Cie will
set her free? I will set out to the Font of Namva
at dawn, and put an end to the Sahagin's predation
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This time you have 2 Sahagins and 4 Ceratoraptors
Again, Synergist must put up Protect, Shell and
Faith. Stick Slowga on the bunch if you have it.
Spam area spells like Thundaga and Ruinga. Take
note that you should be able to quickly shift to
a healing paradigm when things begin to get even
just a bit awry.

Mark : Pulsework Champion
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 12
Reward : Perfect Conductor x 3
Secondary Rew : Piezoeletric Elements x 4
Summary : A Pulsework champion that had been working the
Mah'habara Subterra has gone haywire, and is now
raising chaos in the steppe's Northern Highplain
It is my Focus to see the automation deactivated
-- a duty which I undertake not only at the
fal'Cie's behest, but for my husband, whom the
accursed machine butchered.
By all that is sacred, I will not rest until I
have torn it washer from bolt!
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : As always start things off with Libra then use
the Safe Subversion (SAB/SAB/MED) paradigm to
stick Deprotect and Deshell on the mark. You
can also put in a Synergist to buff your crew
with Protect and Shell if you like.
Shift to Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) or Aggression
(COM/COM/RAV) to stagger. Spam lightning spells
for the kill.

Mark : Ambling Bellows
Stone Location : Mah'habara Twilit Cavern
Mark Location : Mah'habara Twilit Cavern
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 12
Reward : Sorcerer's Mark
Secondary Rew : Piezoeletric Elements x 4
Summary : Who designed this place? It's a maze of dead ends
How am I supposed to find the Ambling Bellows?
Knowing it's in a Twilit Cavern doesn't help
much when I'm trapped in a maze of the blasted
things!
Curse my luck. I'm running out of time. I'd
every intention of fulfilling my Focus, and now
I'm going to end up a Cie'th!
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Evened Odds (SYB/SAB/MED) should be your default
paradigm. Wait until your Synergist bestows
Protect, Faith and if possible, Bravery. The
Saboteur should stick Bellows with Deprotect and
Deshell. Then shift to Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV)
and spam the mark with Lightning until it
staggers and drops.
Ignore the Hoplites for the moment, as the mark
will just call new ones to replace the ones that
died. Heal with Recuperation (MED/MED/SYN) or
Salvation (MED/MED/MED).

Mark : Uridimmu
Stone Location : Sulyya Springs Ceiling of Sky
Mark Location : Sulyya Springs Subterranean Lake
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 18
Reward : Cobaltite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 5
Summary : Time is of the essence. He must not defeat me in
this! I must be the one to slay the Uridimmu at
Sulyya Springs.
We were always together -- he, my princess, and
I -- but it was he who won her love. Were he now
to turn to crystal, I fear it would break her
heart... and so it must be me! Then my princess
can live out her days in happiness, as a princess
rightly should.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Four Uridimmus this time around. Buff with
Protect and Veil, as Virulent Breath inflicts
Poison. Deprotect will help wear the dogs down
faster. Spam physical attacks. Battle over.

Mark : Goblin Chieftain
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower The Palisades
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower The Palisades
Reward : Rhodochrosite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 5
Summary : When father told me he was leaving us, I struck
him full in the face. I can still remember the
look in his eye to this day... just as I'll
never forget the way he picked himself up and
left without a word. I found out later that he
had turned to crystal. It pains me now to think
of how I never made any attempt to understand
how he suffered under the burden of his Focus.
That is why I must triumph over the Goblin
Chieftain near Taejin's Tower -- so that someday
I can tell him that I am sorry.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Synergist should cast Protect, while Saboteur
sticks Imperil, Deshell, and Poison. Shift to
Tri-disaster and spam magic spells until mark
staggers and dies.

Mark : Gelatitan
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Reward : Speed Sash
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 5
Summary : Brave soul, heed my plea and we shall bring light
to your dark path.
Know that a Gelatitan holds my power thrall
within this spire. Slay it, and I shall once
more be free.
If you can but restore the strength of my two
brethren and I, here on the second tier, the way
will be opened unto you.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Your opponent Gelatitan is weak to Lightning and
absorbs Water. Use Libra first then have your
Synergist cast Barwater, Barthunder, Protect and
Shell on everyone, while a Saboteur works to
inflict Deshell. Spam lightning spells when
staggered.

Mission 22 - Infernal Machine

Mark : Ambling Bellows
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Reward : Particle Accelerator x 3
Secondary Rew : Electrode x 3
Summary : Puissant soul, heed my plea and we shall bring
light to your dark path.
Know that an Ambling Bellows holds my power
thrall within this spire. Slay it, and I shall
once more be free.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Ambling Bellows is accompanied by 2 Cryptos. This
is an upgraded Boxed Phalanx, so leave the Cryptos
alone for the moment and attack mark with
lightning and water after sticking Deshell. Kill
off the remaining targets when the mark has been
dealt with. Protect on everyone is a must as well

Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Second Tier
Reward : Warrior's Wristband
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 4
Summary : Sage soul, heed my plea and we shall bring light
to your dark path.
Know that a Gurangatch holds my power thrall
within this spire. Slay it, and I shall once
more be free.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Sneak up behind the Gurangatch and it'll die
faster than you can say hello. Otherwise,
Synergist should cast Barthunder and Shell while
Saboteur sticks Imperil and Deshell.

Mission 24 - A Potent Sting
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Mushussu
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Fifth Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Fifth Tier
Prerequisite : Clear Missions 21 to 23
Reward : Moonblossom Seed x 6
Secondary Rew : Moonblossom Seed
Summary : Tormented soul, heed my plea and we shall bring
light to your dark path.
Know that a Mushussu holds my power thrall within
this spire. Slay it, and I shall once more be
free.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This thing has a variety of elemental strengths
so use Libra before everything else. The wasp is
accompanied by a pair of Yakshinis, whose attacks
are rather painful so once again, Protect is a
must. The mark is also capable of inflicting
Curse and Poison; have Medics with Esuna ready
or have your Synergist cast Veil on everyone.
Work the chain gauge with Relentless Assault
(COM/RAV/RAV) then switch to Aggression
(COM/COM/RAV) when the mark staggers.

Mission 25 - Spectral Haunt

Mark : Vetala
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Sixth Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Fifth Tier
Prerequisite : Clear Missions 21 to 23
Reward : Cobaltite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 6
Summary : Enlightened soul, heed my plea and we shall bring
light to your dark path.
Know that a Vetala holds my power thrall within
this spire. Slay it, and I shall once more be
free.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Has 480,000+ HP, halves damage from all elements,
and immune to earth and physical attacks. Its
invulnerability to physical attacks only lasts as
long as the shield is active. Staggering Vetala
removes the barrier and you know what that means.
Anyway, Synergist should bestow Protect, Shell,
and Veil on everyone while Saboteur sticks
Imperil. Use Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV)
and Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) to stagger then
shift to Aggression (COM/COM/RAV) to pile on
damage. Use Salvation (MED/MED/MED) or
Recuperation (MED/MED/SYN) to heal.

Mark : Penanggalan
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower Fifth Tier
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Sixth Tier
Prerequisite : Clear Missions 21 to 23
Reward : Diamond Bangle
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 5
Summary : Defiant soul, heed my plea and we shall bring
light to your dark path.
Know that a Penanggalan holds my power thrall
within this spire. Slay it, and I shall once
more be free.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The 4 Chonchon minions are annoying so summon an
Eidolon to get rid of them. The mark is weak to
magic, so stick Deshell on it, cast Faith on
yourself and grind the target down to dust.

Mission 27 - Mithridates, the Lone
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Mithridates
Stone Location : Taejin's Tower The Cloven Spire
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower Ground Tier
Prerequisite : Defeat Dahaka (Taejin's Tower boss)
Reward : Blaze Ring
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 6
Summary : The Undying -- fearsome Cie'th that defy fal'Cie
will, driven by an intense loathing of all that
lives. Mithridates, the Lone is of their number
and his undoing is my burden.
It is said in life he once loved music. I can
but hope the notes sounded by the elevator in
Taejin's Tower descending from the apex might
lure him out, and allow to restore a touch of
harmony to the discord of the tower's tainted
song.
Info : You'll have to solve a short puzzle in order to
make the mark appear. Start by checking the
statue at the Apex. The lift can now access the
7th tier; take a ride down there. Next, examine
the statue before heading to what appears to be a
dead end. A lift arrives; ride it up to the Apex
and take that same lift down to the ground tier.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This thing is weak to all elements but immune to
earth. He also has over 1.5 million HP so it
might take a while to beat him. Start things off
with a Synergist buffing everyone with Protect,
Shell, Veil, Barthunder and Faith. Equipping
lightning-resistant accessories also help.
Alternate betweem Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) and
Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) to stagger him.
Once staggered, switch to Aggression
(COM/RAV/COM) and pile on the damage. Be sure to
have a potent healing paradigm such as Salvation
(MED/MED/MED) ready and use it when needed.

Mission 28 - Faded Glory
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Ceratosaur
Stone Location : Oerba Village Proper
Mark Location : Oerba Village Proper
Reward : Giant's Glove
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 5
Summary : This timeworn ghost town is Oerba? I hardly
recognize the place! Could the Ceratosaurs I've
been sent to destroy have done this? And even if
they did what purpose will it serve to eradicate
them now? Are the fal'Cie planning to raise a
new village in this white wasteland?
Well whatever they intend, I suppose I'd better
get to the harbor where the creatures nest.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : There are 10 of these things... which is an
absolute pain in the rear. They are weak to fire
and earth. You might want to summon an Eidolon to
soften the monsters, then use the Recuperation
(MED/MED/SYN) paradigm to buff and heal your
party at the same time. Next up is to bring in a
Saboteur to stick Slowga on the marks.
Finally, with Faith active, shift to Thaumaturgy
(RAV/RAV/MED) and spam fire spells until
everthing bites the dust.

Mission 29 - Faltering Faith
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Juggernaut
Stone Location : Mah'habara Maw of the Abyss
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower The Palisades
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 20
Reward : Uraninite
Secondary Rew : Mobius Coil x 6
Summary : The cloven spires of the Taejin's Tower forms the
bridge between the Archylte Steppe and the
outlying lands. Yet a rampaging Juggernaut now
bars all passage, and I have been charged with
its disposal.
Why do the fal'Cie value that place so? Why do
they protect it, and yet stand idly by when our
village is threatened? I sense the place must
guard some secret of theirs...
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : The creature roams around with its back to you
so it's real easy to initiate a preemptive strike
Don't forget to equip fire-resistant accessories.
Use Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) to build up
the gauge to at least 500% then switch to
Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for some massive damage.
As soon as the mark recovers, put in a Synergist
to cast Protect, Shell and Barfire; while your
Saboteurs sticks Deshell, Deprotect, Imperil and
Poison (machines can be poisoned...?). You can
go on offensive again afterwards. A second
stagger should be enough to finish it off.

‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Syphax
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe The Haerii Oldroad
Mark Location : Mah'habara Abandoned Dig
Prerequisite : Reach Sulyya Springs
Reward : Uraninite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 6
Summary : The Undying -- fearsome Cie'th that defy fal'Cie
will, driven by an intense loathing of all that
lives. Syphax, the Insidious is of their number,
I am tasked with bringing low.
My mark dwells in the Abandoned Dig Cie'th lair
deep within the bowels of Mah'habara. He's a
treacherous foe, to be sure, but one I must
overcome if I am to see my crystallized beloved
again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Syphax is joined by a ton of Numidias so I
recommend sticking with area spells and attacks
like Blitz and Ruinga. Due to the sheer number
of enemies, be sure to have a potent healing
paradigm, like Salvation (MED/MED/MED) ready.
Syphax has move that inflicts quite a number of
status ailments on your party. Salvation once
again comes into play for this. Stagger the mark
with Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) build the
stagger gauge to at least 500% or more, and
shift to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for some massive
damage.

Mark : Pulsework Champion
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Haerii Archaeopolis
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Haerii Archaeopolis
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 30
Reward : Perfect Conductor x 3
Secondary Rew : Crystal Oscillator x 2
Summary : I doesn't much matter if it's destroying a
Pulsework Champion in the Haerii Archaeopolis or
picking flowers in the yard... if it is my Focus
I'm going to do it. Life was boring before, with
nothing to live for. But now I'm a l'Cie. I have
a Focus -- and life is beautiful, the clouds
have parted and... and there are rainbows!
Cie'th or crystal, it's all the same to me -- so
long as I can put myself to the test, challenge
my own limits, and win!
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This one is joined by a pair of Seekers. Well not
that it matters really. Stick the mark with
Deshell and Deprotect; buff yourself with Protect
Shell, Bravery and Faith. Spam lightning and
attack targets to death.

Mission 32 - And Then There Was One
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Amam
Stone Location : Vallis Media Earthen Bosom
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Western Benchland
Prerequisite : Reach Mah'habara
Reward : Glass Buckle
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 5
Summary : Fate is not without a sense of irony, it seems. I
am commanded to hunt the Amam that stalks a pond
in the steppe's Western Benchland -- just as the
rest of my family were once charged, to their
doom. They are Cie'th now, and I alone am left
to put an end top the abomination's bloody reign.
I am coming for you, creature.
I will have my revenge.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : If you have buff shrouds to spare, feel free to
use them now. If not then cast the usual --
Protect, Shell, Bravery and Haste. Stagger mark
with Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) then beat
it to death with Cerberus (COM/COM/COM).

Mark : Adamanchelid
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 30
Reward : White Cape
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x5
Summary : I have been charged with putting down a stray
Adamanchelid that wanders the steppe's Eastern
Tors, no doubt seeking its lost parents.
What kind of monster could perform such a deed?
Not a day goes by I don't recall the pain my
own child to a rampaging beast. Would I now
subject other parents to that fate? No, I my
Focus. The cycle of suffering ends here.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Again, start with the usual buffs -- Protect,
Bravery, Faith and Haste then switch to Safe
Subversion (SAB/SAB/MED) or Infiltration
(SAB/SAB/SAB). Stick the mark with Deprotect,
Deshell, Imperil, Curse, and Slow. Stagger with
Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV), build gauge to
about 500%, and beat down with Cerberus (COM/
COM/COM). Heal with Salvation (MED/MED/MED).

Mark : Zenobia
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Way of the Ancients
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Haerii Archaeopolis
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 30
Reward : Hermes Sandals
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 7
Summary : The Undying -- fearsome Cie'th that defy fal'Cie
will, driven by an intense loathing of all that
lives. The butcher, Zenobia, is of their number,
and I of her line. But I go now to stay her
blade, as my father and his father before him
once attempted.
The butcher's den is in the old Haerii
Archaeopolis, at the northern edge of the steppe.
There, at the scene of her foulest atrocities, I
will expunge her taint, and restore my family's
honor.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Well nice intro, but she doesn't stand much of a
chance against you. Cast Protect (or Protectra
if you have it), Bravery (Bravera if available)
Then switch to Infiltration (SAB/SAB/SAB), stick
the Tonberry with Deshell, Deprotect, Imperil,
and Poison -- Poison is especially effective; it
sucks the mark's HP dry pretty quick.
Follow through with attacks and spells of your
own to speed up the killing process.

helps turn its attention away from your other

paradigm like Combat Cinic (SEN/MED/MED) should
keep your health up easily.

now as your characters are strong enough to
absorb their attacks and dish out devastating
amounts of damage. 4 Verdelets await you here.
Buff yourself with Shell and silence all the
monsters with a shot of Fogga. Beat them all
down however you please afterward.

Deshell. After that, shift to Tri-disaster
(RAV/RAV/RAV) and spam Firaga until the mark
staggers then continue burning it. Avoid casting
water as Ochu absorbs it. It can also inflict
Poison as well as summon additional Microchu
minions with its Seed Dispenser attack.

___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : There are only 2 Verdelets this time, but they
will start summoning friends right away, so
pop a Deceptisol and focus your attacks on the

Goblin Chieftain and it is joined by 4 Borgbears.
Cast Protect and Faith on yourself then spam the
minions with fire spells until they stagger and
die. The mark can cast buffs on its henchmen so
watch out for that.
When the minor dudes are dead, quickly stagger
the Hero and switch to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM)
for a quick kill.

Goblin Chieftain.
Cast Protect and Faith on yourself then spam the
minions with fire spells until they stagger and

Cast Shell, Faith and Haste on yourself then toss
a Librascope. Stick with Relentless Assault and
(COM/RAV/RAV) and Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV),
working diligently to stagger and then elimate
the pair of minions. With Libra, your characters
will automatically use the optimal magic spells
on the flans.
As for the custard, it loves to use Quake which
hits your entire party. Stick Deshell on it
with your Saboteur before spamming Thundaga
while Faith is active. This thing has over 2.6
million HP so beating it might take a while.

Mission 45 - Emergent Evolution
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

fills it, and through it is truth expressed.
Entreat with the Neochu, who sings of earthen
bounty, become on with life's circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Set Attrition (SAB/SEN/MED) as your default
paradigm, then make Vanille your party leader.
When the battle starts, Vanille should spam
Death, while Snow sticks to Mediguard. Have
your Medic heal Snow when his HP drops low.
This technique is cheap but it works, especially
if you're gunning for the l'Cie Paragon trophy.

Reward : Gilgamesh Inc Shop Card
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10

lies hidden deep within.
Entreat with the Zinitra who scours the skies in
search of answers, and become one with life's
circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Synergists should put up Veil, Faith, Haste,
Protect and Shell. Though Veil and Haste are
your top priority. Or better yet use those buff
shrouds you have. Zinitra's spit inflicts Slow
and Poison. Your Saboteurs should stick Deshell,
Deprotect, and Imperil.
Use Libra if you haven't already done so. This
allows your charaters to automatically use the
optimal spells against the boss. Use Relentless
Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) to stagger, build the
gauge and switch to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for
some massive damage. Heal with Salvation
(MED/MED/MED) when needed.

Mark Location : Faultwarrens Titan's Throne
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 42
Reward : Mnar Stone
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10
Summary : The soul is without boundary. It exists in all
places at all times.
Entreat with the Raktavija who obscures the
guarded truth, and become one with the life's
circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Synergists should put up Shell right away, while
Saboteurs stick Imperil, Pain and Slow. The mark
has an attack called Multicast that deals a ton
of damage since it hits your entire party
multiple times. Heal with Salvation (MED/MED/MED)
immediately afterward. This thing has over 2
million HPs and is resistant to everything at
least until the shield comes off on stagger.
Work on filling the chain gauge using Relentless
Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) then switch to Cerberus
(COM/COM/COM) or Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) once
staggered.
If you get lazy, switch to Attrition
(SAB/SEN/MED) and have Vanille spam Death until
you insta-kill the monster.

Mark Location : Faultwarrens Titan's Throne
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 43
Reward : Twenty-Sided Die
Secondary Rew : Bomb Shell x 10
Summary : The soul is eternal. Never dying, never fading,
it evolves in perpetuity.
Entreat with the Verdelet whose fixed gaze marks
relentless charge, and become one with life's
circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Easy-peasy. If your characters are well-trained,
a single Blitz attack from a Commando can kill
all 3 Verdelets.

Mission 49 - Tyrannicide
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Tyrant

Mark Location : Faultwarrens Titan's Throne
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 43
Reward : Particle Accelerator x 7
Secondary Rew : Crystal Oscillator x 2
Summary : The soul's transitions are the impulses of the
Divine. All life is sifted, sorted, blended and
made one once more.
Entreat with the Tyrant whose blade divides
righteous from profane, and become one with
life's circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : I would recommend the use of buff shrouds here,
both Fortisol and Aegisol. Start out with
Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) until the mark
staggers, then switch to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM)
for a quick kill.

Mark : Humbaba
Stone Location : Faultwarrens Nereid Path
Mark Location : Faultwarrens Titan's Throne
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 44
Reward : Scarletite
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 7
Summary : The soul is one in number -- both all and nothing
Entreat with the Humbaba who defends the balance
and become one with life's circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This creature is susceptible to Imperil, Deshell,
Deprotect and Poison. For buffs I would suggest
Bravery, Faith and Haste. This battle wouldn't
last long if you have well-trained characters.
Beat it down with Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/
RAV). A Deceptisol prior to battle would speed
things up even faster.

Mission 51 - Attacus, the Soulless
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Attacus

Paths
Mark Location : Faultwarrens Titan's Throne

Reward : Genji Glove
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10
Summary : The soul defines existence. Its expression is
found in feeling, choice, and action.
Entreat with the Undying Attacus, whose blade is
hate made manifest, and become one with life's
circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Prepare for a long drawn-out battle; the mark
you're about to face has 9,135,000 HP! Pop some
buff shrouds prior to battle and set
Countermeasure (SAB/SAB/SEN) as your default
paradigm. This should draw Attacus' attention to
your Sentinel while your Saboteurs stick Slow,
Curse, Deshell and Deprotect. Shift to this
paradigm whenever you need to recast debuffs on
your target.
Use Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) and Tri-
disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) to build the chain gauge.
Switch to Combat Clinic (SEN/MED/MED) if you need
to heal. Once the mark staggers, use Relentless
Assault to build the gauge up to 500% then shift
to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for massive damage.
This battle isn't hard it just takes time. Rinse
and repeat until the battle ends.

Mark : Zirnitra
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Western Benchland
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Prerequisite : Reach Sulyya Springs
Reward : Gale Ring
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 7
Summary : Why do men dream of flying? And why must we be
without wings? True a nest of vipers hangs in
our sky. Yet were the sky the province of all
things harmful to life, still I would gladly
soar amongst the clouds. What cruel irony then
that I should be charged with smiting a winged
Zinitra...
Regardless, I had best head to the Eastern Tors.
Then again crystals cannot fly, and some Cie'th
can...
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Bring in a Saboteur to stick Deshell, Deprotect,
and Imperil. Shift to Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV)
until mark staggers then shift to Cerberus
(COM/COM/COM) for the kill.

Mark : Zirnitra
Stone Location : Mah'habara An Asylum from Light
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif The Pass of Paddra
Reward : Blaze Ring
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10
Summary : Curse my luck! I've lost it again. Last I saw, it
was heading in the direction of... where? The
southern part of the Yaschas Massif, perhaps?
Damn that Zinirtra and its wanderlust! It caused
me so much trouble, I think I'd kill it even if
that weren't my Focus!
...And to be crystal when I do, I think I'd
better concentrate on the present, and forget
about what's to come. This is going to be a
long walk.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : It's that thing again and it's accompanied by 4
Alraunes this time. The flowers are weak to fire
so a few Firagas should take care of them.
As for the mark, bring in a Saboteur to stick
Deshell, Deprotect, and Imperil. Shift to Tri-
disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV)until mark staggers then
shift to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for the kill.
The Zinitra is also capable of inflicting Daze
so watch out for that.

Mark : Gigantuar
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Northern Highplain
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Prerequisite : Find a Cactuar in the Archylte Steppe
Reward : Cactuar Doll
Secondary Rew : Chocobo Plume x 2
Summary : We five l'Cie are the Shepherds who see the
caravans safe from harm. Though we act as one, it
falls to me to fulfill our Focus for I am the
leader, and what manner of leader would shirk the
most onerous of duties? I could not abide such
shame. The Eastern Tors are the dominion of our
mark -- a fell Gigantuar. It is said to frequent
a rise within Oretoise territory. For honor, the
fal'Cie and my brothers, I will slay the spiny
scourge, and carve my own legend in its ruined
husk.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Equip everyone (or at least two characters) with
Speed Sash, the Random Instant Chain ability
grants instant staggers randomly, and you need
that to finish this battle as quickly as possible
The jumbo cactuar will use 10,000 Needles, yes
10,000 Needles every freaking turn. You should
easily survive that as long as you have high max
HP values. Heal with Salvation (MED/MED/MED).
Don't forget to buff yourself with Haste and
Bravery then shift to Offensive Screen (COM/COM/
SEN). This way, your Sentinel will take the
brunt of 10,000 Needles always and receive only
half of the total damage.

Prerequisite : Clear Mission 14 and Defeat Barthandelus in Oerba
Reward : Growth Egg
Secondary Rew : Moonblossom Seed x 2
Summary : A new variety of Ochu, dubbed the Neochu, has
sprung up in Aggra's Pasture. The pest has been
driving the garden variety Ochu out of its
limited habitat and straight into the jaws of
extinction. Needless to say my Focus appears to
be elimination of the Neochu before it can
succeed.
Why do the fal'Cie seek to solve every problem
by having it killed? Can't they craft a world
where we can all just get along?
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This thing is annoying mainly because it has
Death in its arsenal. What you must do is have
everyone wear Cherub's Crowns then use a
Fortisol so that you get Veiled.
Well why not give the beast a taste of its own
medicine? Set Attrition (SAB/SEN/MED) as your
default paradigm and make Vanille your party
leader. Now, when the battle starts, have
Vanille spam Death on the mark until it vanishes
then turn your attention to the little minions,
switching to Tireless Charge (COM/COM/MED).
spamming Blitz and Ruinga.

Entreat the Humbaba who culls the wayward, and
become one with life's circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This creature is susceptible to Imperil, Deshell,
Deprotect and Poison. For buffs I would suggest
Bravery, Faith and Haste. This battle wouldn't

___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : This monster just never learns and this time it
brought some Ceratoraptor friends. Beat them all
to death with your Commandos, or if you have a
lot of Deceptisols, pop one then cast Quake. This
kills all of them at once.
As for the mark, bring in a Saboteur to stick
Deshell, Deprotect, and Imperil. Shift to Tri-
disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV)until mark staggers then
shift to Cerberus (COM/COM/COM) for the kill.

‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Gelatitan
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Mark Location : Taejin's Tower The Cloven Spire
Prerequisite : Reach Oerba
Reward : Mnar Stone
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 7
Summary : A path to enlightenment weaves throughout the
valleys of the soul's nexus. At its end, as at
its beginning, lies primal knowledge.
Entreat with the Gelatitan, that monument to
primal form, and become one with life's circle
here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Three Gelatitans this time. Again, use a
Deceptisol and an Aegisol prior to battle then
set Tri-disaster as your default paradigm. As soon
as the preemptive strike animation ends, cast
Quake to stagger everybody then spam Thundaga,
which is an area spell, so you can hit multiple
flans at once.

Mission 61 - I, Juggernaut
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Juggernaut
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Mark Location : Oerba Village Proper
Prerequisite : Reach Oerba
Reward : Royal Armlet
Secondary Rew : Crystal Oscillator x 2
Summary : Part the veil of emotion and intellect. Discern
the true nature of that to which the soul gives
rise.
Entreat with the Juggernaut for whom all
obstacles must part, and become one with life's
circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Don't forget to equip fire-resistant accessories.

Mission 62 - Indomitable Will
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Raktavija
Stone Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Central Expanse
Prerequisite : Clear Mission 44
Reward : Genji Glove
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10
Summary : The soul is as the soul is meant to be. Resist
no the flow of its will, and all shall be as
ordained.
Entreat with the Raktavija, of will unwavering,
and become one with life's circle here again.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : There are two of these annoying things this time.
Synergists should put up Shell right away, while
Saboteurs stick Imperil, Pain and Slow. The mark
has an attack called Multicast that deals a ton
of damage since it hits your entire party
multiple times. Heal with Salvation (MED/MED/MED)
immediately afterward. This thing has over 2
million HPs and is resistant to everything at
least until the shield comes off on stagger.
Work on filling the chain gauge using Relentless
Assault (COM/RAV/RAV) then switch to Cerberus
(COM/COM/COM) or Tri-disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) once
staggered.
If you get lazy, switch to Attrition
(SAB/SEN/MED) and have Vanille spam Death until
you insta-kill the monsters.

Mission 63 - Crushed by Doubt
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Adamantortoise
Stone Location : Sulyya Springs Subterranean Lake
Mark Location : Archylte Steppe Eastern Tors
Prerequisite : Reach the Faultwarrens
Reward : Genji Glove
Secondary Rew : Gold Nugget
Summary : I've been given the Focus of eliminating a
stampeding Adamantortoise in the Eastern Tors of
of the Archylte Steppe. It seems someone enraged
the beast by attacking its young, and the
fal'Cie wish it dead.
I understand the danger it poses, but is violence
the only solution? I would be enraged if someone
attacked my child! It seems so wrong...
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Again, start with the usual buffs -- Protect,
Bravery, Faith and Haste then switch to Safe
Subversion (SAB/SAB/MED) or Infiltration
(SAB/SAB/SAB). Stick the mark with Deprotect,
Deshell, Imperil, Curse, and Slow. Stagger with
Relentless Assault (COM/RAV/RAV), build gauge to
about 500%, and beat down with Cerberus (COM/
COM/COM). Heal with Salvation (MED/MED/MED).
Alternatively, you can equip Speed Sashes and
hope for an instant chain. This eliminates all
the work needed to achieve stagger.

Mission 64 - The Doomherald
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Mark : Vercigetorix
Stone Location : Oerba Rust-Eaten Bridge
Mark Location : Yaschas Massif Paddraean Archaeopolis
Prerequisite : Clear Missions 27 & 51 and Defeat Barthandelus in
Oerba
Reward : Gold Watch
Secondary Rew : Bomb Core x 10
Summary : Vercigetorix bane lord of the Undying. lives on.
But how? I smote the fiend's ruin so long ago it
seems an eternity. Yet it was my focus then, as
it is now, and at his end, I turned to crystal.
Did some unearthly power quicken his lifeless
corpse again, even as I dreamt?
No matter. I know where he lurks in the Paddraean
Archaeopolis, whose doom he did herald. There do
I go, to bury the beast as many times as I must.
___________________________________________________________________
Strategy : Well this is it, the final mission and as
expected it won't be easy. Your mark 15.7+
million HPs. I would suggest popping a Fortisol
and Aegisol to eliminate the need to buff in
battle, at least for a while.
This creature uses Impregnable Aura, a shield
that blocks damage from both physical and magic
attacks; it also drains the chain gauge back to
nothing and locks it. Fortunately, the barrier
dissipates pretty quick.
Have your Saboteurs stick Deshell, Deprotect,
Imperil and Poison. As soon as the shield clears,
quickly fill the chain gauge by constantly
shifting between Relentless Assault and
Tri-disaster as soon as your party finishes one
attack run, so it's important that you have
multiple copies of Tri-disaster and Relentless
Assault in your paradigm deck.
Once the mark staggers, build the stagger meter
up some before shifting to Cerberus for some
major damage pile up. Heal and rebuff using the
Convalescence (SYN/SYN/MED) paradigm.

restricted by one's inability to freely switch party members, and
the limited number of roles each character has access to. These
restrictions are lifted late in the game however. Below is a

Character equipments can be upgraded at any save station after
obtaining the Omni Kit key item. The components that you've
collected throughout your journey carry experience points that
can in turn be applied to the piece of equipment being improved.
Once an equipment is mastered, you can then use a specific
component that acts as a catalyst to transform said weapon or
accessory into something new.
For the table below, the entries under "effect" are listed as
'attribute + min/max'. The "new item" entries indicate the
new equipment a mastered weapon/accessory transforms into after a
catalyst is used, as represented by the number code to the left
of the accessory name. Also, elemental/attack type/status
resistance values are in % form. Space issues has kept me from
typing the "%" sign... And "*Lv" indicates an equipment's
"master" level.
