Woodwork Programme allows you to choose

HERITAGE OF OVERFINCH 1975-1989
1975 Under the umbrella of Schuler Ltd the performance
Range Rover is born. Development commences to
improve Range Rover performance using 4 Dellorto
carburettors and other external modifications.
1976 Experiments with 4.4 litre Leyland P76 V8 (Australian
version of Rover V8) in a Range Rover.
1978 Prototype testing of new Schuler/Ferguson Formula
transfer gearbox and Anti-Skid Brake System (ASB) in
the Welsh Rally.
1979 Pioneering development of the 5 speed manual and
3 speed automatic transmissions with Land Rover’s
involvement and co-operation
1980 Land Rover commission Schuler to produce 25 Range
Rovers with Schuler/FF chain drive transfer case and
Torqueflite automatic for sale through dealers to test
market acceptance of automatic Range Rover. This
led to it becoming a factory approved option retro-
fitted by Schuler Ltd.
1981 Paris-Dakar Rally win. A Range Rover entered by Land
Rover France equipped with the Schuler/FF gearbox
wins rally outright. Schuler build Jaguar V12 engined
LWB Range Rover development mule, introducing
the concept of the performance Range Rover. First
appearance of Vented Brake option.
1982
1985
STRANGE ROVER, Project. World’s 1st mid-engined 4WD
rally car was created . Introduction of first Chevrolet
engined production vehicles.
Schuler hand over control of the Range Rover division
to their UK Managing Director, who changes the name
to Overfinch.
1986 Introduction of OVERFINCH 570 S (Sport) with GM700 4
Speed automatic transmission.
Armoured Range Rover Project - Ministry of Defence
commission Overfinch to carry out specialist conversions
to 5 armoured examples.
1987 Further development of the 570 Sport provides a more
comprehensive package of enhancements to include
braking and a long range fuel tank.
1988 Launch of OVERFINCH 500 E, 500 S. Cost-effective 5.0
litre models achieved by retaining standard gearbox.
1989 Launch of OVERFINCH 570 S2. Power increased, new
Ride and Handling Suspension system plus further
refinements
HERITAGE OF OVERFINCH 1990-2009
1990 Fuel injected OVERFINCH 500i and 570 TPi models
introduced. New Precision Steering Conversion (PSC)
enhances chassis dynamics.
1991 New Quick-Ratio Steering option revolutionises Range
Rover driving characteristics. New OVERFINCH 570 Ti
(Torque inject ion) announced.
1993 The limited edition 10th ANNIVERSARY 500i and 570Ti
models celebrate 10 years of GM engined Range
Rover production.
1994 Exclusive new OVERFINCH RECARO Sports Seat option
Exclusive new OVERFINCH NEVADA 8x16 two piece alloy
wheels launched.
1996 Initial range of upgrades for new series 2 Range Rover
launched, including unique 7 Seater Conversion.
1998 New entry level Overfinch 460i engine conversion
announced for Classic Range Rover Discovery and New
SV50 Land Rover.
2000 New 630R Anniversary model of the second generation
Range Rover celebrates the company’s 25th year in
style. Xenon (gas discharge) lighting introduced.
2001 Advanced new Active Ride Technology suspension
system (A.R.T.) redefines Range Rover chassis dynamics.
BBC’s Top Gear successfully slalom test the car with the
standard car unable to complete the course!
2002 Initial work on the new generation Range Rover begins
in earnest plus move to new larger facility in Farnham,
Surrey. New 12 spoke 20 inch alloy wheel for 2nd and
3rd generation Range Rovers released
2003 Launch of the Overfinch 580 S to critical acclaim by the
motoring press - the first non GM based (i.e. small block,
Chevrolet-powered) Overfinch flagship model.
2004 Launch of new Tiger 22” wheels plus further
developments of product range for the (BMW
engineered) Range Rover. This included extensive
work to the interior ambiance plus a 6/7 seater
conversion for children.
2005 Development commences on the new 2006 model
Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Overfinch are
winners of the Ford ‘Special Recognition for Outstanding
Achievement in Design’ Award at the SEMA Show, Las
Vegas for the Super Sport body styling package.
2007 New avant-garde Aero II body styling for Range Rover
Vogue is launched at the Top Marques Supercar Show
in Monaco. Launch of 20 inch diameter Tiger and
SuperSport alloy wheels for use within standard Range
Rover mud and snow tyres.
2009 New Aero III styling package is launched setting new
standards of quality and style through the use of
advanced polypropylene components, a first in the
tuning industry.
