TWI Booth at the District Kinder Fair

Date: December 4th, 2010, 10am- 1pm

TWI Parents, teachers, and students will be passing out information and answering
questions about the program and about enrollment for next year. The district will also
do an enrollments presentation and we will have Spanish translation.

District-Wide TWI Meeting

Date: December 9th, 2010, 6-8pm
Place: Cragmont Elementary, 830 Regal Rd Berkeley, California 94708, 510-644-8810
The two main goals of the meeting are: to inform about the status and plans of the TWI
program, and to self-organize all members of the community & district to participate
and to assist in improving the areas of the TWI program that need it the most. These
include support for TWI curriculum, admissions, education, outreach and recruitment -
especially of Spanish speaking families. At this meeting we will also review proposed
TWI Community Group logos and we will start to define a Steering Committee for the
TWI Community group.

TWI Alumni Forum

One of the barriers we’ve encountered for Spanish speaking families to enroll their kids
in Two Way Immersion is that they are not sure that their children will learn English and
will have academic success in the future. Therefore, at this forum we will have a panel
composed of parents and students that currently are or have been in a BUSD TWI
program. They will be talking about their experiences and success; they will share
with us how TWI has helped them to be where they are; and they will be talking about
the opportunities they’ve had because of their bilingual, bi-literate, and bicultural
abilities. We will have students and parents from Longfellow Middle School, Berkeley
High School, and possibly students that are already in college.

Puesto de Inmersión Dual (ID) en la Feria de Kínder del Distrito
de Berkeley

Padres, maestros y estudiantes del programa estaremos dando información y
contestando preguntas sobre el programa y sobre inscripciones para el próximo año.
También habrá una presentación del distrito.

Reunión de Inmersión Dual (ID)

Fecha: 9 de diciembre del 2010, 6-8pm

La reunión tiene dos objetivos principales: informar sobre el estado y planes de
Inmersión Dual, y el de auto-organizar a los miembros de la comunidad y distrito para
participar y colaborar en mejorar las áreas del programa ID que más lo necesitan. Esto
incluye apoyo para ID en las áreas de currículo, matriculación, educación, alcance y
reclutamiento- especialmente de familias Latinas. En esta reunión también
revisaremos los logotipos propuestos para este Grupo de Apoyo al programa de ID, y
empezaremos a definir un Comité de ID al nivel distrito. ¡Esperamos verle y charlar
con usted en la reunión!  
 

Foro Informativo de Alumnos de TWI

Una de las barreras que hemos encontrado para que las familias Latinas inscriban a
sus hijos en Inmersión Dual es que no están seguros de que sus hijos aprendan bien
el ingles y de que tengan éxito académico en un futuro. Entonces, en este foro
tendremos un panel compuesto por padres y estudiantes que están o han estado en el
programa de Inmersión Dual en el Distrito Escolar de Berkeley. Estarán hablando
sobre sus experiencias y éxitos; compartirán con nosotros cómo ID les ha ayudado a
llegar a donde están, y hablarán de las oportunidades que han obtenido por ser
bilingües, bi-letrados y bi-culturales. Tendremos estudiantes y padres de Longfellow
Middle School, Berkeley High School y quizás hasta estudiantes que ya están en la
universidad.
