Office Genuine Advantage Notifications (OGA KB949810) automatically. Once installed KB949810
verifies your product key number and if it finds the product key number illegal or pirated, it will start showing
a “This copy of Microsoft Office is not genuine” notification in your system tray area along with at splash
screen whenever you try using Office programs.

OGA crack was a rumor and we are yet to see any KB949810 crack working. But we can manually uninstall
this KB949810 update to get rid of these notifications. Do note that this update can’t be removed from ‘Add
or Remove Programs’ interface as it does not show up there. But you can follow the below working tricks to
disable and remove Office not genuine notifications from system tray and MS office programs interface.

Disable OGA Notification : Hack – 1

We can remove OGA notification by disabling OGAAddin.dll from loading when we start Office

applications. OGAAddin.dll file shows the notification and removing this will stop such notifications from
appearing. This below hack will make Windows think that KB949810 is properly installed and it will not
prompt you for further installation.

1. Go to Start >> Run >> Type regedit in the box and hit Enter
2. This will open Registry Editor window, press Ctrl+F to open search box
3. Type OGAAddin.connect in the serach box to find this registry key
4. Once found, Right click on Load behaviour and select Modify option
5. Edit and change the value from 3 to 0
6. Repeat this process for each and every instances of OGAAddin.connect key
7. You are done.

Disable OGA Notification – Hack 2

This hack will completely remove OGAAddin.connect registry key from system registry and the OGA
notifications will be automatically removed. However the system might ask you to install this update using
Windows Live Update again.

1. Go to Start >> Run >> Type regedit in the box and hit Enter
2. Navigate to the following key paths and remove these registry keys completely from your system. You
might find any other key which contains OGAAddin.connect registry value, remember to remove all of
them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Powerpoint\Addins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins

3. Delete the OGAAddin.connect registry value from above paths

4. You are done.

Disable OGA Notifications – Hack – 3

This hack will remove OGAAddin from within MS Office applications, but you need to sign into any user
profile on your computer with administrative access.

1. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 (address might differ depending on your

Office version and installation drive) >> Right click on any office applications such as inword.exe,
excel.exe, powerpnt.exe etc and choose Run as Administrator option
2. Head to Options (at the bottom of the menu) >> Add-Ins
3. Select COM Add-ins under Manage drop down list >> Hit Go

4. Disable or remove OGAAddin

5. Follow the above process to remove OGAAddin from each and every office application
6. You are done.

Disable OGA Notifications – Hack – 4

We can completely disable OGA or KB949810 notifications by uninstalling KB949810 OGA Notification
via OGANotifier.msi and this will stop and remove all OGA notifications.

1. Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\8998da55d52b36c0e98ba016ddd50de0\
folder (Assuming C:\ as your installation folder)
2. Extract OGANotifier.cab using WinRAR to find a file named as OGANotifier.msi
3. Right click on OGANotifier.msi >> select Uninstall
4. Block automatic update installation to avoid further installation
5. You are done.

Disable OGA Notification – Hack – 5

Microsoft does not allow people to uninstall OGA notifications, but you can easily delete and remove OGA
components from your system manually. In this way, they will be automatically go inactive and you won’t see
those boring “This copy of Microsoft Office is not genuine” notifications again.

1. Close all Office applications first

2. Navigate to C:\Wndows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWow64 folder and delete the following files

OGAVerify.exe
OGAAddin.dll

3. You are done.

You can follow any of above 5 tricks to uninstall, remove or disable Office Genuine Advantage notifications
(OGA or KB646810 notifications). Remember to disable auto-update feature else KB949810 update will get

Thanks for the suggestions, however, Hack 1, 2, & 5 only work temporarily. Once the computer has been
restarted all the files magically return. Load Behavior switches back to 3, and all the OGAA files are back in
the registry and hard drive. For Hack 3 I could not find the Add-ins under Options. For Hack 4 there was no
option to uninstall when right clicking on OGANotifier.msi . Any other suggestions or thoughts? Thanks!

If you issue this from RUN or from a CMD prompt

MsiExec.exe /X{B2544A03-10D0-4E5E-BA69-0362FFC20D18}

will also force it to uninstall it self

On 25 August an automatic update installed KB949810 on my Vista operating pc and immediately I started
receiving warning notices about microsoft office validation and after 2 weeks the warning started counting
days left before any documents produced via office would be marked as invalid.

I used Hack 5 and in System32 removed OGA Addin.dll plus OGA Check control. dll and OGA Exec and this
appears to have fixed the problem. I also noticed that an additional 17 files in System32 had been modified at
exactly the same time as the other files had been uploaded and checking these 17 found that all had had an
additional file implanted called OGA Addin.dll.mui and I removed these also.

SuzieCue is right about Anonymous2’s response. Do the MsiExec.exe /X{B2544A03-10D0-4E5E-

BA69-0362FFC20D18} from a command prompt or from the RUN box and it will completely uninstall
KB949810 and you will no longer get the MS Office Validation Messages. This was the only solution that
worked for me even after a restart. Also, be sure to HIDE the update KB949810 when doing microsoft
updates so you don’t accidently re-install it. In Vista, uncheck the update and then right-click on the update
after selecting “VIEW AVAILABLE UPDATES” from the update window and then left-click on “Hide
Update”. This will prevent this update from ever being installed again.

Thanks to who ever anonymous2 is. His method worked.

I then went to Microsoft updates web sight, and hid the Office GA update KB949810.
Now how long will it be until Microsoft finds out about this and comes up with a way to run it without our
knowledge?
They have done this in the past with operating systems GA updates.
I have always kept my updates set to “Notify”, and they have gotten things as the GA updates installed in the
past.

Hack #3 worked for me. But I can’t find the Add In-option in Outlook. Can someone help me?

(And hack #4 doesn’t work because I can’t find the right folder. And hack 1, 2 and 5 are temporarily, so
those are not a option. )

What i just ended up doing was restoring my system to a date before this nasty KB949810 update was
installed. Hopefully you can still restore it to a date before the update, since this update was just published on
8/25/09. You can check when you installed it by checking the history in Windows Update and make sure you
restore ur pc to a date prior. And of course make sure you do NOT install it again! Good luck!

I did not follow the hacks above.

Here’s what I just did and so far it’s working very well. (I have Windows XP SP2)
With no MS Office applications running, I went to windows updates and changed my notification settings
from automatic updates to “notify me when new updates are available.” A couple minutes later I got a pop up
that asked if I wanted to change back to automatic updates, I clicked on “no” and it went away.
I then clicked on start, then run, and pasted

MsiExec.exe /X{B2544A03-10D0-4E5E-BA69-0362FFC20D18}

into the drop down box and ran it.

A little program ran for about 8-10 seconds and then disappeared from the screen. I then did a disk clean up
(temp internet files, etc) and did a restart. (You probably don’t have to do the clean up, just me being neat
freak.)
Once restart was done and I was back at the start screen, there was an immediate yellow shield in the lower
right taskbar by the clock. I clicked on it and it was windows updates trying to get me to re-install the genuine
advantage validation tool. I declined the install and also checked the box to not show me this update again. I
then went to windows update and did express update search. Once it’s complete you will get a list of updates
if you need them (I didn’t get any) and you will then see a yellow box that says “You’ve hidden important
updates. You’ve asked us not to show you one or more high-priority updates but your computer might be at
risk until they are installed.” This is because you elected to hide the genuine advantage update and not have it
shown to you. Do not click on the “Restore them now” choice and it will not load. So far I have not gotten
the GA warning box at all since I did this. Hope this helps you all.

Before I had tried any of the hack steps above, hotmail.com and MSN.com started refusing my emails after
the 30 day warning whenever I used MS Outlook and Windows Mail. But before the expiration, I had
uninstalled, then reinstalled MSOffice 2007 hoping the problem would resolve itself. I tried Hack #s 1-3
separately, and restarted my laptop each time. I couldn’t find #4, and haven’t tried #5 or the MsiExec yet. I
was able to get Hack #2 to work after following http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/08/28/workaround-
to-disable-and-remove-oga-office-not-genuine-notifications-uninstall-kb949810/, Shaamaan’s suggestion;
however my email is still is still rejected by MSN and Hotmail.

Does anyone have any clues or suggestions? Will doing step #5 or MsiExec help resolve the email rejections?

I used Hack 5 and it works, BUT, I do not receive any updates for Vista and other components!!
My Vista is an official version and MS Office Corporate.
What can I do to modify it??

Follow-up to email problems with MSN and Hotmail. I was having problems importing my contacts list into
my webmail so I contacted my ISP. I explained to them what was happening with the email and importing
contacts. They stated they’re aware of the MSN/Hotmail issues, and are trying to resolve it, but have no
estimated completion date/time. It turns out to be one helluva coincidence that I was trying to resolve the
OGA issue, and the email issue occurs. Thanks to all for reading my comments. (P.S.: Now I have to work
on my export/import issues. )

You can avoid notificacion just only by renaming OGAAddin.dll file in C:\WINDOWS\system32. It worked
well for me.
