THE UNIVERSITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA - AUSTRALIA

Kecheng Shen earned a BEng degree in mechanical engineering in the early 80s in China before starting his postgraduate studies in
Sweden. Researched focused on engineering design and reliability methods, in particular, improvement of system reliability through
component and system design. After his PhD, Kecheng joined Studsvik Nuclear, a Swedish company in nuclear energy R & D. He worked
as a consulting engineer and research scientist on contracted research project for the Swedish/international nuclear regulators and
power utilities. In 7 years Kecheng developed data handbooks, reliability models and performed industrial risk assessment. Kecheng
then spent 10 years with Bombardier, where he was appointed Project Reliability and Safety Engineer and Specialist, and managed the
fulfillment of reliability and safety requirements.
