1. Time and space flexibility

Students will have time frames to finish each topic in the outlined schedule. The class will have
the opportunity to work on each topic when we meet during the face to face class periods. This
should help clarify any questions and concerns that may arise from students or the instructor.
Students will be allowed to work on materials, if there is any, during class if time permits.

It is mandatory to do Online assignments as scheduled each day. Students should make sure
they have time each day to work online and finish the content before time expires. Keep in mind
there may not be enough time to work when we meet face to face.

When we meet face to face, students will have the opportunity to work on group assignments and
other assigned work. The majority of the course work can be handled during face to face class.
There are computer labs at the school that is available for student use. I will allow students to go
to the computer lab if we have extra time to work or they may go at their free time.

2. Group composition

This module will have a 2 group assignments. Group assignments consist of (1) written story and (2)
presentation of choice. The 1st assignment will consist of two students. (Homogeneous grouping)
The 2nd group assignment will be the final assignment for this module. Each group will consist of
three students. (Heterogeneous grouping) I will assign groups and post the names of the students
in each group learning task.

3. Learning Task

Students will have the opportunity to use discussion threads to post assignments. The learning
module has several great components to present the information to students.

Students are encouraged to email or post threads to me (instructor) or to the others in the
class. There is no reason to have unanswered questions or concerns.
Group assignment

The 1st assignment will consist of two students. The students will write a one page story of
their choice or interest and post it to the discussion thread. When choosing groups make sure you
agree on the topic and it is something of interest to both students. Each student will have the
responsibility of creating a list of words about the topic. The words should be used in the written
assignment. Students should make columns and name the columns as follows: nouns, verbs,
adjectives, and adverbs. Students will have time frames to turn in parts of these assignments.
This will help to make sure students are on track.

The 2nd group assignment can be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation, musical (song)
component, or a digital storyboard. The assignment must be uploaded and posted to the assignment
link. All areas covered during the module must be included. If you write a song or use the
storyboard to present your content you must include the written document to me when you submit
the work. If you submit the work using PowerPoint you should either highlight or use bold print to
help identify the content that is being used.

4. Instructor’s role

You have the opportunity to talk with me (instructor) about any questions or concerns. There
are several ways to contact me. Students have a copy of email address and phone number. You may
use these to ask questions. There is also a link for students to post any questions. This link is
important because you never know when a fellow student may be able to answer the question or
someone else may have the same question. Students can address concerns and questions when we
meet face to face.

I (instructor) will send feedback in a timely manner. This is why it is of importance for all
assignments to be turned in on time. Students often need redirection on tasks and assignments, so
I will make sure I do my best to help in this manner. I will be directing, redirecting, and facilitating
the course. My role will be to facilitate both face to face and online coursework.

5. Learner engagement

There are student assignments for each day and different areas of content. Students should
read each lesson daily and do the required assignments. The assignments and reading materials will
help students learn the desired materials and help with student engagement. Students have the
opportunity to help each other on much of the course work. Peer collaboration can be very useful in
this module. The module is set up in a way that the content will be ongoing. The information
covered in the module will be used as building blocks. For this reason, students will have
performance based learning and assessments, peer collaborations, and individual work to help aid in
the learning of the materials.

6. Formative evaluation and feed back

Each student will receive feedback from each assignment. The feedback will be sent via email to
your assigned email account. Students will be given credit for any discussions posted. As long as
the student posts a thread, students will not receive a 0. The only way a student will receive a 0
for an assignment is the student omit to do the assignment. Students will assess each person they
work with during group assignments. Each student will also have the opportunity to assess
themselves using a grading rubric. The rubrics will be turned and calculated with the given
assignments and used as part of student’s overall grades. Student’s honesty is of importance with
assessing peers. (If I find that the student(s) was not honest, the student will be given a failing
grade for the assignment.) There will be a written assessment and a performance assessment at
the end of this module. I will have assessed each of the final assessment. The Performance
assessment will also be assessed by each person in the group. This means students will have the
chance to assess their work as well as the other person(s) in the group.

7. Time management

Each student may need to set time limits to have each assignment finish. The course schedule will
help you determine when each assignment is due. If you have not received an email with feedback
with 2 days of your turned in work, email me to make sure I received the assignment.

8. Dimensions of flexibility (all three categories)

Multiple Means of Representation

The lesson will be presented in different representations. Students will be able to read
from text books and from materials presented online. There will be PowerPoint presentations along
with a video on adjectives. Students will also have the opportunity to read resources and follow
posted links to help aid in learning the content.

Multiple Means of Expression

Students will use shared writing. Students will be paired with a classmate to write on topic
of choice. The shared writing must be done as a team. Students will have the opportunity to
brainstorm on their topics and create a piece or story that will paint a picture for the readers. One
of the group assignments will consist of a presentation piece of each group’s choice. The students
will use a 21st century method to present the presentation.

Multiple Means of Engagement

Students will use a variety of engagement techniques during this module. Students will have
the opportunity to play games to help them understand different components of grammar. There
are several discussion threads that students will engage in. They will have brainstorming activities
that should be turned in for and used as formative assessments. Each means of engagement will
help re-enforce the components of the lesson and to help students store the information and
process in their long term memory banks.
