The Month of Remembrance
The month of November is dedicated to commemorating
our loved ones who have died in the Lord. The shrine of
St. Joseph in our church will be suitably decorated for the
month of November. The Book of the Dead will be
available to receive the names of our dearly departed.
All Souls Day envelopes will be available throughout the
month of November for those who wish to have their loved
ones remembered at the Eucharist.
Guest Speaker This Weekend
We welcome The Most Rev. Gary Gordon, Bishop of
Whitehorse, to our parish to speak at all Masses this
weekend.
For over 100 years, Catholic Missions In Canada has
provided support to Catholic missionaries serving
throughout Canada. The mission? To extend the
blessings of the Catholic faith throughout our nation’s 28
mission dioceses unable to financially support their local
church ministries.

Iraqi Sponsorship Ministry News
The next Iraqi Refugee Sponsorship Ministry meeting will
be on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the parish
hall. All are welcome.

Christmas Help - “Adopt a Family”
Once again we are asking parishioners if they would like to
provide a family in need with special gifts at Christmas.
This year though, we are asking on behalf of a fellow
Etobicoke parish and needy families elsewhere in the city
who have requested assistance from the Society of St.
Vincent de Paul.

Annual Christmas Collection at O.L.S.:
our annual special collection will take place the weekend of
December 4th / 5th. Thank you for all your past help. Your
donations make our service to our neighbours in need
possible.
Preparing for Confirmation
Registration This Weekend
After all Sunday liturgies this weekend: Nov. 20th / 21st,
Registration packages will be received in the Parish Hall for
the Confirmation Preparation Program.
The package must include: the completed Registration
form, a legible photocopy of the candidate’s Baptismal
Certificate, the $10.00 gown rental fee (please indicate
your child’s height on the form)
Confirmation Sponsor: The registration form asks for the
name of the Sponsor. The Sponsor must be: a baptized,
confirmed and practicing Catholic, aged 16 or older, male
or female.
Registration Deadline: If you are unable to attend the
weekend registration, we ask you to bring the completed
form and rental fee to the office no later than December
1st.

retreat. There will be a catered luncheon following 12:30
pm Mass. Speaker: The guest speaker will be Sister
Christa Mary of the Sisters of the Precious Blood, who
has spent 30 years in Africa with the Missions. Sister will
be showing a video of her African Experience. Please call

Presentation on:
The New Roman Missal
St. Gregory’s Parish - Sat., Nov. 27th at 10 am
Presenter: Cale Clarke - All are welcome to attend.
Each of the Eleven English-speaking Roman Catholic
Conferences in the world must prepare their own text for
the New Roman Missal, which must be duly approved by
the Bishops of that Conference in a canonical vote, and is
then sent to the Congregation of Divine Worship and the
Discipline of the Sacraments. After receiving recognitio
by the Congregation, time must be allotted for publication
and parish preparation for the changes.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops are hopeful
that recognitio for the Canadian text will be received
soon. The Bishops of Canada cannot select a date for its
implementation until the approved text has been received
and the necessary amount of time ascertained for its being
printed and published. In addition, it is not CCCB practice
to release liturgical translations in advance before the
official liturgical books have been published. The CCCB
will be issuing catechetical resources to assist Canadian
Catholics in preparing for the new translation, however,
these materials can only be finalized once the approved
text of the Missal has been received for use in Canada.
