6.

0 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

6.1 PROBLEM FORMULATION:

The Indian mutual funds industry has witnessed significant growth in the past few years
and offers a wealth of opportunities for fund houses to capitalize upon. Therefore, there
are ample of opportunities for ICICI and UTI, mutual fund to unlighted the investor about
its different schemes and increase its market share. To compare the different schemes,
there efficiency and to know the customer preferences, the study and surrey is conducted.

6.2 HYPOTHESIS:
• Mutual Funds are gaining more importance in India.
• Schemes are selected on the basis of the performance, publicity

6.3 RESEARCH OBJECTIVES:


• To get the in-depth knowledge of the mutual funds.
• To carry on a comparative study on selected schemes of private and public sector
funds with special reference to UTI and ICICI.
• To know the customers preference on mutual funds in the region of Roorkee,
Hardwar, Jwalapur, Rishikesh, Dehradun.

6.4 RESEARCH DESIGN:

Descriptive Research has been used because respondents were studied based upon the
various factors. This research has been adopted to know what is happening in the market
with respect to product, the customer and t heir attitude.

6.5 SOURCES OF DATA COLLECTION:


To achieve the set objectives both the related primary and secondary data have been
collected.
Primary data: Primary data are data freshly gathered for a specific purpose or for a
specific research project. In this research primary data is collected by survey method. In
survey method questionnaire is used as a research instrument. The questionnaire mainly
comprised of close-ended questions. A structured questionnaire was preferred for the
study. Questionnaire is designed and given to the respondents to elicit specific
information about mutual funds.

Secondary Data: Secondary Data is collected from the company site & bulletins
published by the company. It is used to gather the information about Company profile,
fund houses expertise and latest update made by the company. T he information about
the latest fund introduced by the company is also available

6.6 STATISTICAL TOOLS USED.


Statically tools used in the project study are
• Tables
• Bar graphs
• Pie-charts

Roorkee, Hardwar, Rishikesh, Jawalapur, Dehradun

6.9 LIMITATION
The major problem faced using the project is:
• While answering people tend to give best answers instead of true answers.
• Sometimes respondents being busy not have enough time to give the response
needed for the project.
• The study is limited to a particular UTI and ICICI bank.
• Keeping in view the time frame opinion survey of only 100 people has been taken
which may not reveal the whole population of a country.
