The Holidays are, once more, upon us and Ti’s the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la, la la la la; yet
too many of our readers and friends find themselves overburdened and stressed out by what to
get that special someone on your shopping list. The folks at FOG HORN want to make the
Season less stressful and hassle-free with some great suggestions.
It is not easy to make our Christmas Stocking Stuffer list; to make it, the product needs to offer
exceptional value. We look for items that are backed by companies with outstanding customer
service; that are dedicated to our fighting men and women around the world. The product has
to be solid and address a real need. They won't, necessarily, be the least or most expensive but
in all cases they exhibit a high benefit to cost ratio.

This Year's FOG HORN's Christmas Stocking Stuffer

Magpul Industries' Angled Foregrip –

AFG2™
It's difficult to find a company more innovative than
Magpul industries. Their P-Mag product, now
ubiquitous, is but one example of a fresh, no fluff,
approach to solving pressing problems.
We selected their AFG2™ because it promotes proper
carbine handling technique; enhancing muzzle control
and operator comfort.
The M4/AR15 accessory market is full of doo-dads that, in our view, are not just useless but
harmful; reinforcing bad habits. One example is “magazine-well grip” accessories. It seems,
manufacturers have added everything except labia majora to these devices.

Let me discuss why we feel the way we do.
Team up with your shooting partner for this exercise. First, make sure that you are using
a training M4, in a color of your choosing. Have you partner go into a room. After he is
position, you come in to clear the room and come around a corner using a magazine well
grip. Have, your partner smack the muzzle such that the butt-stock moves away from
your cheek. There's a very real chance that you'll loose control of that weapon. Give it a
try.
Next perform the same exercise using the AFG2™. Not only did you NOT loose control of the
muzzle, you are able to retain your weapon as well.
Magpul's AFG2™ is our number one pick for a stocking stuffer, and at an MSRP of $34.95 get
two.

CRKT® - Tao Pen

Columbia River Knife and Tool has a long history of producing
and marketing quality products for all occasions. In 2010,
they've teamed up with award-winning Allen Elishewitz to
add an elegant pen to their tactical lineup.
The Tao Pen is an extension of Allen Elishewitz's 30 plus
years in the marshal arts combined with his training as a
Recon Marine.
Each Tao Pen is an expression of the order and flow in
nature. Elegantly machined from 6061 anodized aluminum,
these pens are available in a variety of styles and colors,
including tactical black and olive drab.
Tao pens have an overall length of 5.75 inches and weigh 1.7 ounces. The pen comes fitted with
a Fisher pressurized cartridge, so writing in any position or angle is no problem. The Fisher
cartridge will not dry out and functions in rain, cold, heat; including zero gravity.
In addition to being beautiful writing instruments, Tao pens function as very capable defensive
tools for those sad but sometimes unavoidable confrontations.
The impact point on the cap is designed to be used as a strike and rake tool. The cranial will cut
through and break the skin, which is followed by a dragging motion to open the cut. It is
effective against any exposed surface of the body, especially the forehead, hand or arm.
The butt of the pen is pointed and can be used as a second level defense. It is a more lethal
impact tool and highly effective when used against the attackers face, eyes, throat and temple.
Should other measures fail to dissuade the attacker, a third level of defense is available by
exposing the writing tip; using the pen to create puncture wounds, thrusting to the eyes,
abdomen, neck or other soft tissue with lethal results.

The CRKT® Tao Pens make an excellent Holiday gift and they are our number two choice for this
year's stocking stuffer. Tao Pens are available directly from CRKT® at www.crkt.com for just
under $70.

“Rite in The Rain” Products – J.L. Darling

Corporation
The ability to take detailed notes or create accurate
drawings and representations is central in
reconnaissance and surveillance. Whether you're
collecting details on a potential AlQaeda safe house, or
the nesting habits of the yellow belly sapsucker, there's
is a good chance that you'll be writing under less than
ideal conditions.
J.L. Darling developed “Rite in the Rain” paper for the
Pacific Northwest logging industry, some time in the
1920s. The paper addressed the needs of those that
need to journal or document, in inclement weather,
avoiding the hassle of illegible soggy paper.
As a former member of the armed forces, I have used
“Rite in the Rain” products for a number of years with
absolute success and satisfaction.
“Rite in the Rain” products have evolved over the years,
continuously adding depth to the product line; today,
the company offers a number of highly specialized
products to include discipline specific papers, bound
and spiral field books, 3 x 5 cards, all weather pens and
a host of other items.
If you are in law enforcement, emergency response,
homeland security, correspondent or scientist you need
“Rite in the Rain”; they are our number 3 choice for this year's stocking stuffer. You'll be hard
pressed to find a more useful gift.

G2X™ Pro Dual-Output LED – Surefire LLC
This year, the company that pioneered the high
performance tactical light brings us four outstanding
new high output lights.
The G2X™ Pro, one of four bearing the designation of
G2X™ and 6PX™, is the polymer rendition of a dual-
output 200 lumen tactical hand-held.
This little gem is just over 5 inches in length and
weighs a mere 4.4 ounces with batteries installed. The light is powered by two 2 123A lithium
batteries that deliver a whopping 200 lumens in high intensity mode, and a very tame 15
lumens, with a run time of 45 hours, in low power. The LED technology makes the G2X™
extremely durable and reliable.
Switching between low and high intensity is simple with Surefire's patented tailcap. The first
press gets you into low output momentary mode; continue pressing, until you feel a click, and
you are in low intensity continuous mode; return to off and click again, within two seconds, to
propel into hyperspace with 200 lumens of perfectly collimated white light.
Three other models are available: the G2X™ Tactical is the single-output version of the G2X™
Pro; the 6PX™ Pro is constructed from aluminum and is slightly heavier at 5.2 ounces with
batteries installed; the 6PX Tactical is the single-output version of the 6PX™ Pro.
Starting at an MSRP of $55 for the G2X™ Tactical these new lights represent a real value and
they are our number four choice for the 2010 stocking stuffer list.
These lights are available directly from Surefire by visiting their website at

conditions. If you need corrective lenses, Revision offers an optional prescription carrier. Frames

to protect the only eyes you'll ever own.

Horus ATrag2x™ Advanced PDA Ballistic Software

Those involved, professionally or for sport, in long range precision
shooting understand the complexity of placing a shot in a 10 inch circle
at 1000 yards. For example, a shot fired from an M24 sniper rifle takes
about 1.4 seconds to travel 1000 yards. In that 1.4 second time span,
the projectile is exposed to wind, humidity and air density. Connecting
with that 10 inch target at 1000 yards requires a tool that enables the
marksman to take into consideration: bullet weight, muzzle velocity,
altitude, temperature, barometric pressure, range to the target and
inclination angle. Each of these variables influences the bullets
trajectory. Horus' ATrag2X™ is just that tool.
The ATrag software will work with any scope or reticle, and runs on Palm OS or Pocket PC PDAs.
Horus' software provides a number of tools that integrate seamlessly to deliver accurate
elevation and windage data.
The Atrag2X™ ships on an SD card that installs easily into your PDA's card slot.
For first shot solutions in demanding environments Atrag2X™ gets the job done quietly and
effectively and for that reason we've placed it on our 2010 Stocking Stuffer list. It's $190 well
spent.

X2/X2L LED Upgrade Kit – Insight Tech Gear

Insight Tech Gear requires no introduction when it comes to advanced
weapon sights, tactical illumination and thermal imaging; Insight
products are used by USSOCOM, MARSOC and USASOC.
The X2/X2L family of lights are specifically designed for the numerous
compact frame pistols on the market today. They are ideally suited to
the HK MP-5 and MP-7 SMGs. Their compactness and rugged design
make these little lights ideal for tactical use.
The one weakness that plagued the X2/X2L was its incandescent lamp,
which produced a meager 40 lumens with a run time that was just under 30 minutes.
Insight Technologies has addressed the problem by introducing the X2/X2L LED model which produces
over 80+ lumens with a run time of 60 minutes.

Insight Technologies recognized that the large base of X2/X2L incandescent owners need an upgrade
path, so they introduced an X2/X2L LED Upgrade Kit. The kit is available directly from Insight Tech Gear
as well as Insight dealers ranging in price from $40 to $69.
If you own an X2/X2L light, this is a must have upgrade that preserves your investment and improves the
light's performance. For that reason we've selected the X2/X2L Upgrade Kit for our 2010 stocking stuffer
list.

Sidewinder Compact™ Tactical Flashlight -

Streamlight
In 2009, I reviewed Streamlight's Sidewinder™ giving it a
rave review. That initial assessment was validated at the
2010 International Sniper Competition, held at Fort
Benning. For this year's competition, the majority of events
were held in the darkness of night. My companion, as I ran
and walked with the teams, was Streamlight's Sidewinder.
If I can borrow from the Timex folks, “the Sidewinder took
a licking and kept on ticking.” At one point I feared it had
been ruined by an ATV; luckily, the ATV missed.
We selected Streamlight's Sidewinder Compact™ Tactical Flashlight, for our 2010 stocking
stuffer list, for its ruggedness and functionality.
The light can be helmet mounted, rail mounted or attached to PAL webbing. The articulating
head makes precise adjustment of the light a snap. For military applications, we recommend the
model 1402 which includes IR capabilities.
The Sidewinder family of personal lights are available from retailers for an amazing $50 to $60.
