Va’Yishlach – And he Sent.

Gen. 32: 4 – 36: 43.

11/19-20/10
pg. 1.

I. This Torah portion is a vivid picture of the return of Jacob/Israel to his

homeland. It lives before us as a rehearsal of the return of the Outcasts of
Israel in our day!

Since we begin in the middle of a thought, we need to get a running start back
in the previous chapter where Jacob and Laban erect a “Witness Heap”
between them. Let’s look at the Hebrew “KEY” words here and then leap
with both feet into this story!

Gen. 31: 51 And Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold
[this] pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;

• Laban, #3837, ‫ לבן‬Laban, The brother of Rebekah. Taken from #3836,

laban, meaning white, and #3835, laben, to burn or make bricks. Laban is a
picture of a COUNTERFEIT! White, pure looking on the outside (the White
sepulchers Yahshua mentions as being full of dead men’s bones) yet, dead on
the inside.

• Heap, #1530, ‫ גל‬gal, this word means a heap or pile of stones as a

marker, either for a grave or the ratification of an agreement or Covenant. It
can also be used to indicate the Bride of a Lover who, as a barred spring is
sealed up to assert her Chastity! Incidentally, this word is the root of the word
Golgotha, #1538, ‫ גלגלת‬gulgoleth, the place for counting – polling heads, in
order to determine who was part of the House of Israel by lineage and
therefore had access to the Tabernacle!

The innuendo here reveals the Covenant intent of Jacob to produce a

Chaste Virgin in Israel. This was the intent upon leaving Egypt – YHVH
Ransomed a harlot, making her a Virgin, and it will be the same again in
the Greater Exodus! Incidentally, the numerical value of ‫ גלגלת‬gulgoleth
(466) is the same as #5497, Sut, a garment, clothing, in context; it refers to
that of royal or kingly clothing. Exchanging our garments is part of
Covenant cutting… *Note this passage: Yahshua quotes it in LK. 4 during
the year of Jubilee on the Day of Atonement. He puts on a Scarlet robe – a
harlots’ covering!
• Pillar, #4676, ‫ מצבה‬matstsebah, a pillar or stump, something set
upright. A garrison for an army. , It is also cognate with # 4682, massah, a
fem. noun meaning unleavened bread and is connected to the Festival of
Unleavened Bread where the Redeemed Bride is purged of any leaven or Sin
before being presented the wedding contract at Shavuot!

Right off the bat, we can see a shadow picture of Israel leaving Egypt where
the bones of their dead lay – except for those of Joseph who are brought out!
Israel becomes a Chaste Virgin upon leaving, the leaven of sin behind! This is
also a shadow picture of our day when the Outcasts of Israel will once again
leave the False Religions – that are full of white (Laban) dead bones and strip
the sin from ourselves as we leave for our Home!

Boundary lines!

A. While we’re here we need to look at Gen. 31: 52: This heap [be] witness,
and [this] pillar [be] witness, that I will not pass over this heap to
thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto
me, for harm.

Ed hagal hazeh ve'edah hamatsevah im-ani lo-e'evor eleycha et-hagal
hazeh ve'im-atah lo ta'avor elay et-hagal hazeh ve'et hamatsevah
hazot lera'ah.
The first phrase, Ed hagal hazeh, can be written: Witness the STONE, THE
LAMB! (Zeh means, this, but is also the word for lamb). The rest of the verse
has the ET – Aleph – Tav, connected to both, gal & zeh! Since a boundary is
being established, and Laban was accusing Jacob of stealing his house gods
(Gen. 31:30). The phrase used: wherefore hast thou stolen my gods?
• Stolen, #1589, ‫ גנב‬ganab, to steal, to sweep away by stealth. *Note
however, the root word is #1588, gan, garden, enclosure, it is used
to indicate EDEN. *Note also the ab added to it, which could read
‘father’. Is it possible that Laban is accusing Jacob of stealing the
gods that were FATHERED IN EDEN – that came across the
boundary line – the carnal flesh - separating The Serpent Seed
and The Seed of the Woman? Which boundary, Messiah came to
erect again by coming in the Flesh as the offering for Man? This
boundary or door can only be crossed if the flesh is offered to the
enemy as a host, a WOMB! Jacob was intent on closing that door,
yet Rachel has the gods! Now we know why an Army of YHVH’s
angels are to meet Jacob! You can see Laban’s attachment to
these “Fallen Ones” when he invokes them in Gen. 31: 53…the
god of Nahor and his father Terah…known for making idols and
living in Babylon – Chaldea, as did Nimrod!

Gen. 31:34 tells us Rachel, #7354, ewe, it is cognate with #7356, racham,
womb. Rachel sat on the gods to hide them! What is happening is a shadow
picture of Eve in Eden, She opens the WOMB TO THE SERPENTS SEED
AND DIES FOR IT, yet she also births Benjamin, the Son of the Right Hand.
Twins in the womb, just as Cain & Abel! Because of her idolatry, her son
Joseph and his house who represent the OutCasts of Israel, are sold to
bondage again!

And He Went Out…

II. Now, let’s begin to examine the current Parsha…*Note Gen. 32: 2:

‫הים׃‬
ִֽ ‫אֹל‬
ֱ ‫אֵכי‬
ֲ ‫מְל‬
ַ ‫הַלְך ְלַדְרֹּכו ַוִּיְפְּגעּו־ֹבו‬
ָ ‫עֹקב‬
ֲ ‫ְוַי‬

And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

VeYa'akov halach ledarko vayifge'u-vo mal'achey Elohim

*Note the word here for met: #6293, ‫ פגע‬paga`, to meet, to encounter,
however, it is from the root of #6291, pag, meaning an early green fig.
This is the rehearsal of Matt. 24:32, where the Fig Tree – Israel, again
begins to return home as was Jacob! This was also rehearsed in the
Exodus account as well! Ironically, when Yahshua makes His
triumphant entry into Jerusalem prior to His execution, He enters two
cities first, Bethany, Gk. #963, house of misery (a.k.a. Egypt, double
straits or misery) next, Bethphage, GK. #967, the House of Figs! He is
retracing Jacob’s – Israels’ steps, leaving Egypt and leading those
former captives who were in bondage to the Brick (Laban) master, to
Freedom! It is no coincidence that bondage to Bricks was the final straw
in their release.

Jacob becomes two houses!

III. Gen. 32: 3 reveals an oft - overlooked spiritual principle. What happens
in the physical realm is demonstrated in the spiritual realm first.

Jacob calls that place Mahanaim, #4266, ‫ מחנים‬Machanayim, after

seeing the host, #4264, machaneh, of YHVH. The picture is that of ONE
CAMP BECOMING TWO!

It is also extremely prophetic the two camps are divided upon meeting
Esau, #6215, ‫` עשו‬Esav, (Strong’s has it: hairy), however, lets massage
the Hebrew language to look at the root stem, #6211, `as [ayin-shin] this
word refers to a fragile, yet destructive insect, that could destroy houses
of earth or clay. Metaphorically, in Job, Ps. and Hosea it is used to
describe the destruction of the flesh of men, one’s enemies, and
Ephraim! Adding the vav on the end could infer ‘MY MOTH’ (the
destroying one) who divides the House of Israel!

This parallels the declaration in Gen. 3 where the serpent is said to

consume the dust.

• Esau comes to meet Jacob with 400 men. Remember – Hebrew

words can have both a blessing and curse in their meanings, as
will the numbers. 400 is the numerical value of the Tav, the Sign
of the Covenant, but, it also is the value of #3784, kasaph, to
practice sorcery, witchcraft, occult magic. It was connected to the
kingdoms of Babylon, Nineveh, and both the Northern &
Southern Kingdoms of Israel! Dan. 8:23 In the latter time…a
King who understands dark sentences…

• Sentences, #2420, ‫ חידה‬chiydah, a dark secret, riddle, oracle,

enigma. Interestingly, the word for Serpent, (Gen. 3:1) is taken
from the root of 5172, nachash, which means to engage in the
occult practice of the above!

While Jacob is meeting the Company of Malakim and Esau is

coming for him, a spiritual battle between the opposing armies
ensues!

Gen. 32: 14, 15, gives the details of the number of animals that Jacob –
out of his great fear - sends as gifts to Esau to plead for deliverance. The
total is 550, (Two hundred she goats, and twenty he goats, two
hundred ewes, and twenty rams, Thirty milch camels with their
colts, forty kine, and ten bulls, twenty she asses, and ten foals.)
550 is the numerical value of #5404, neser, eagle. It is the Eagle’s wings
with which YHVH delivers Israel out of Egypt, and the eagle who
pictures YHVH hovering over His people to protect them. The Eagle is
seen again delivering Israel in Rev. 12: 14 – 17. Here, the Serpent casts
out of his mouth a flood to destroy the Woman. *NOTE what happens
in Gen. 33: 4.

Incidentally, there are 5 groupings of these ‘gifts’. Ex. 13: 18 says Israel
came out of Egypt harnessed, #2571, chamush, harnessd from, #2570,
chamesh – FIVE! Both camps came out in Battle array against and
enemy! In Hebrew thought, five (5) also represents Torah, Grace &
Favor. Thus, armed with Torah, one can find Grace against his
enemies!

Esau!

Esau ran to meet them. He hugged [Jacob], and throwing himself on his
shoulders, kissed him. They [both] wept.
Vayarats Esav likrato vayechabekehu vayipol al-tsavarav vayishakehu
vayivku.
Above the phrase ‘vayishakehu’, atop of every letter is a dot. The word
‘kissed’, #5401, ‫ נשק‬nashaq, means to kiss, but it is closely related to
5402, weapons, battle, and the above #5404, eagle. The Battle for the
House of Jacob is set into motion and Jacob is delivered on Eagles’
Wings!

Jacob crosses Jabok.

IV. Another interesting tidbit to add emphasis to our revelation comes from
Gen. 32: 23, where: And he rose up that night, and took his two
wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and
passed over the ford Jabbok. Let’s look at some hidden Manna!

• Two, #8147, shenayim, two, to repeat. It is cognate with #8150,

sanan, to whet, to sharpen as in a sword.

• Womenservants, #8198, ‫ שפחה‬shiphchah, a maidservant (remember

Shiprah and Puah). It is cognate with #8193, sapah, the lip, a
language, a border and #8196, sepot, a judgment, punishment.

• Eleven, #6240, asar, ten, tithe, remnant.

• Echad, 259, one, a Union, to unite, join oneself together.

• Pass over, #5674, abar, from EBER – Hebrews

• Jabbok, #2999, ‫ יבק‬Yabboq emptying. The yod prefix can indicate

possession I.E. “MY, MINE”. Ironically, the root is related to #1234,
baqa, to split, to break open, to divide and #1235, beqa, indicating a
half-shekel.

Indeed, Jacob is Yabboq – emptied, poured out – of the flesh and filled
with the Spirit of Messiah. Gen. 32: 25 tells us later, that Jacob wrestles
with ‘The Angel of YHVH’, personally, I believe it to have been
Yahshua, because the phrase ‘and there wresled’ is ‫אֵבק‬ ָ ‫ַוֵּי‬the same word
for Yabboq! An exchanging of Places!
Although the division of the House seems as if it was a curse, in
actuality, it became a way of preserving the Remnant. Thus, this
expanded definition could read:

Jacob took his wives to do again, rehearse, in order to sharpen the

tongue – language (during this judgment) of a remnant a tithe of the
House who would Unite themselves as Hebrews at MY BREAKING –
the wounding of Messiah who was broken for Israel – and becoming the
Half-Shekel of Redemption!
