oriented approach. The IATA Travel & tourism team believes that these changes

opportunities & will assist you in preparing yourself for a successful career as an
international travel professional in this dynamic & exciting industry.

Structure of the IATA/UFTAA Career- path Training Programme.

Level 1: Foundation consists of 13 modules that includes global distribution system

Level 2: Consultant consists of 09 modules

Level 3: Management consists of 07 modules

Level 4: Senior Management consists of 05 modules

Study Kit: After remitting your fees to IATA office in Montreal Canada you will
receive a Study Kit after 45 days from Canada itself. Study kit consists of books,
enrollment letter, client id, Examination form.

So what exactly is in this course: The foundation course is the first of the four
levels. By successfully completing the examination you will be qualified with the
IATA/UFTAA International Travel & Tourism foundation/ electronic booking tools
(EBT) diploma & entitled to use the letter DTTF after your name.

Content: The 13 modules of the foundation course will give you an understanding of
the travel & tourism industry, the practicalities of the travel professionals’ role in
the industry & the importance of exceeding customers’ expectations & a
foundation of air fare calculations & ticketing.

Module 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 related to Environment:

Module 1.1 is all about The travel & tourism & the travel professional:
This introductory module is intended to set the scene and help you, the future travel
professional, to be involved in the continually changing and exciting world of travel and
tourism

Module 1.2 is about Geography in Travel Planning 1:


Travel professionals use destination geography everyday. In this module, you will acquire
the basic knowledge required in order to be able to provide timely and accurate service
for the planning of customers’ itineraries

Module 1.3 Travel Formalities:


Various documents & procedures are required for travel; this module emphasizes the
need for accuracy when supplying information on visa & passport requirements,
customs & currency regulations.

Module 1.4, to 1.9 is all about PRODUCTS: in order to effectively answer customer
queries and sell travel and tourism products, these modules will familiarize you
with the various product specifications and schedules, enable you to give advice
concerning the products and make the appropriate booking for the customer.

Module 1.10 & 1.11 is about Support Services

Module 1.10 – Customer Service: Knowledge of the industry & products is


important however this knowledge is wasted if you fail to give the level of customer
service needed to make the vital impact on the purchase & repurchase decisions of
customers this module provides you with the skills & knowledge required to ensure
that your frontline contact with the customer is remarkable.

Module 1.11 – Technology in the Travel Industry 1: Information technology is at the


basis of the travel and tourism industry highlighting the development of global
distribution systems (GDS) and the internet, this module demonstrates the
importance of the role of information technology.

M1.12 Air Fare and Ticketing 1: The specialist skills involved in calculating air fare
and issuing tickets have assumed a new importance in today’s competitive market.
This module provides the basic skills to enable you to accurately issued and price
the most common types of tickets.

M1.13 Electronic Booking Tools: A GDS is an essential computer based tool used in
the travel industry to book and sell travel – related products such as airline flights,
hotel rooms, car rentals, and issue associated travel documents.

How the modules Work:

Module Prerequisites: An indication of the level of knowledge and skills you should
have before beginning the module.

Module learning outcomes: Tell you specifically what you are expected to learn by
studying the module.

Key learning points: The most important skills and knowledge that learners must carry
away from the module in order to meet the learning outcomes are highlighted as key
learning points.

Study Checks: Quick checks are designed to help you assess whether you have fully
grasped the immediate preceding text- if you are not sure about the answers to these
questions, we suggest that you review the preceding text again more carefully.

Study Tips:

 Study the modules in any sequence, but start studying the Air Fares and
ticketing module as soon as possible, as this is the most technical and
challenging content in the course. Do not skip any subject, even if you fell
that you are familiar with it.
 Read all explanations carefully before working through the examples and
turn to the training editions and other reference books provided whenever
reference is made to these publications.
 Complete the study checks and reviews.
 On an average of 200 hours of self directed study is required.

Model examinations; Paper 1 is of 100marks divided into two i.e. 30 marks for GDS
and 70 marks for Fares (03 Hours)

Paper 2 is of 180 Marks. (03 Hours)

Passing Percentage is 70% and to get distinction 85%
