MATLAB R2016b - Installation and Activation Guide

Software Download:

Download the following from the CCSE shared network folder (\\ccse-
software\Applications\Programming\Matlab\Matlab-R2016b\)

1. R2016b_win64_dvd1.iso
2. R2016b_win64_dvd2.iso
3. Activation-installation key.txt
4. License.dat

MATLAB Installation

Step 1: Run the MATLAB installer setup.exe file

Open the ‘R2016b_win64_dvd1.iso’ file and run the ‘setup.exe’ file.

Step 2: Select the Installation Method

Select the option “Use a File Installation Key” and click Next.
License Agreement: Accept the license agreement terms and click Next.

Step 3: Specify the File Installation Key

Select the option “I have the File Installation Key for my license” and provide the installation key from
the “Activation-installation key.txt” file and click Next.
Step 4: Specify Installation Folder

Step 5: Specify the Products to install


Step 6: Specify Installation Options

Step 7: Confirm your choices

Before it begins installing the software on your hard disk, the installer displays a summary of your
installation choices. To change a setting, click Back. To proceed with the installation, click Install.
Step 8: Eject DVD-1 and Mount DVD-2

During installation when there is message prompt ‘Eject DVD 1 and insert DVD 2 to continue’, do the
following (shown in screenshots below):

1. Navigate to Computer/This PC, and eject the DVD Drive MATHWORKS_R2016B (6.49 GB)
2. Then, navigate to Matlab folder, right click the R2016b_win64_dvd2.iso (1.74 GB) file and click
on Mount.
3. Then, click OK on the message prompt ‘Eject DVD 1 and insert DVD 2 to continue’
Step 9: Complete the Installation

When the installation successfully completes, you can choose to activate the software you just installed.
You cannot use the software you installed until you activate it. Activating immediately after installation
is the quickest way to start using MATLAB. Click Next to proceed with activation.
Activation of Matlab

Step A-1: Leave the Activate MATLAB check box selected on the Installation Complete dialog box at the
end of installation.

Step A-2: Select the option Activate manually without the Internet and click Next.
Step A-3: Specify the path to license.dat file and click Next.

Step A-4: Activation is completed.
