Hydrostatic pump, adjusters and testing nipples

3. High pressure, forward (MB)
4. Adjusting, charge pressure
5. Control valve, adjusting the stall curve position
6. Balancing screw, adjusting stall curve inclination
7. Control pressure (PS)
8. Adjusting, balance (MA–MB)
9. Adjusting, pressure cut-off
10. Shock valves, provided with orange security seal
2. Start the diesel engine and read off the charge pressure, 2.6
MPa (26 bar) (377 psi) at 2200 rpm.
NOTA:
The charge pressure is indicated on all gauges connected to the
hydrostatic pump. If the correct pressure is not obtained, see
point 7.
3. Fully apply the service and parking brakes.
○ Turn the gear selector control to position H (high-gear
position).
○ Engage forward gear and read off the pressure gauge
connected to port MB 7.8–16.0 MPa (78–160 bar) (1131—2321
psi) at 900 rpm.
○ Increase the speed to 1200, 1500 and 1800 rpm and read
off the pressure at each speed and mark the recorded pressure
at each point in the stall diagram.
○ Increase the speed to 2200 rpm and read off the pressure
cut-off: 42.6 MPa (426 bar) (6179 psi) at 2200 rpm.
If the correct pressure is not obtained, see point 8.
Compare the obtained pressure readings with the stall curve.
NOTA:
The pressure build-up should be even (linear) when reading off
the gauges, see stall diagram.
Figure 3
Stall diagram
Permissible variation of hydrostatic pump pressure as a
function of the diesel engine speed and the permissible
variation of the shock valve setting range.
4. Engage the reverse gear and repeat point 3. Read off the
gauge connected to port MA. Compare the recorded pressures
with the stall curve (stall diagram). The curve for the forward
gear and the reverse gear should be as close to each other as
possible.
5. If the pressure does not lie within the limits of the diagram.
First check the control pressure and adjust if required.
To check the control pressure, remove the plug from port PS,
install testing nipple 13 933 251 and connect hose and pressure
gauge.
Start the diesel engine, gear selector control in neutral.
Read off the control pressure at 900, 1200, 1500, 1800 and 2200
rpm.
The control pressure is adjusted on the control valve on the
hydrostatic pump
If the inclination of the stall curve needs to be adjusted, this is
done with the balancing screw on the hydrostatic pump, see
point 14.
6. If the balance between Froward/Reverse (MB/MA) needs to
be adjusted, this is done with the adjusting screw on the control
piston on the hydrostatic pump.
Adjustment is done as follows:
○ Low idle.
○ Engage forward gear and read off the pressure at port MB.
○ Engage reverse gear and read off the pressure at port MA.
○ If necessary adjust the balance with the adjusting screw on
the control piston.
NOTA:
A static check should only be carried out after a hydrostatic
motor or the displacement valve have been dismantled. This is
