TRAINING DESIGN

Title of Training: 1st School Based Environmental Camp

I. Rationale

Nowadays, people are worrying about sudden weather changes, rise of temperature especially
in tropical areas and even a single inch of rise of water level worldwide. These concerns about Climate
Change and Global Warming are the inspirations of the 1st School Based Environmental Camp to be
conducted on November 22-24, 2013 at Lagao National High School Annex with the theme “ Reducing
Our Carbon Footprint”. This activity is in line with the DepEd Order No. 52, s. 2011 entitled
“Strengthening Environmental Education in Public and Private Schools” to lead students’ environmental
programs, projects, activities and advocacies in schools; and DepEd Order No. 93, s. 2011 entitled
“Mandated Programs, Projects and Activities, Various Forms, and Targets Pertinent to the Youth for
Environment in Schools Program” and LNHS Annex Calendar of Annual Proposed Activities 2013-2014
for the Month of October.
II. Objectives

The activity aims to:


1. Learn more about Climate Change and Global Warming and the various Mitigation and
Adaptation efforts especially as regards reducing the Carbon Footprint;
2. Inculcate among students the importance and relevance of reducing carbon footprint as
doable and practical way to mitigate and adapt to the changing world; develop students
awareness on the state of environment, focusing on significant issues and concerns;
3. Encourage students’ active participation and determined concrete action in the protection,
preservation and rehabilitation of the environment and ;
4. Instill environment values in every student to motivate actual involvement in worthwhile
programs, projects and activities for the environment.

Expected Output
Students will have deeper understanding and awareness about Climate Change and
Global Warming; the application of students learning in their day to day lives with regards
to reducing the carbon footprints and waste management ; the active participation of students
in environmental activities and the utilization of recycled plastic bottles as pots for planting.
