Locker Security System

Introduction: Locker security is both the security hardware in place on a property as well
as personal security practices. Locker security is a security alarming system which is attached
to the locker to avoid unauthorised entry as well as to stop the burglars from stealing. Locker
security is a device which will provide a security to locker of a shop or a company or houses
that have important and valuable property locked inside it because of which the owner can be
certain and not worry about the property being stolen.

According to an FBI report, 58.3% of burglaries involved forcible breaking. A typical

burglary lasts for about 8 to 12 minutes and, on average, a burglar can break a locker within
60 seconds. Most thefts target cash first followed by jewels, and other important property.
The main aim of locker security is to provide safety to the owners and stop the practice of
stealing. It is an device which has an internet connection and is able to send message to the
owner on his phone using a GSM module.

Nowadays the technology of sensor system has a large variety and build to sense various data
from the environment. Fingerprint scanners are security systems of biometrics. They are used
to unlock doors and in other security applications. People have a pattern of ridges on their
fingers. This fingerprint cannot be removed or changed. Every fingerprint is different
(unique) from any other in the world. Because there are countless combinations, fingerprints
are much used for identification. Biometrics has been considered also instrumental to the
development of state authority (to put it in Foucauldian terms, of discipline and bio power).
Biometrics is the technical term for body measurements and calculations. It refers to metrics
related to human characteristics. Biometrics authentication (or realistic authentication) is used
in computer science as a form of identification and access control.

The creation of Locker Security System is an interesting project since it combines both usage
software and hardware components and also deals with the servers. It protects unauthorized
entry of opening the locker by any means or method. The locker security is built for the
people who are always worried about their property being stolen. Earlier there were no such
devices, the owners used to depend on the lock system which consisted of a metal lock which
could be easily broken. This device will make the locker smart and will give it an ability to
share the information using internet.

The objective of the locker security system is to reduce the crime of stealing and to provide
safety to the lockers so that the owner can feel free and safe. It also had and greater objective
of making and real-time Security System which enhances the security as well as stop the
crime of sealing.
Front-end support: The programming language used for front-end development is c, c++
and java.

Back-end support: The back-end will be the Arduino IDE (also used for programming the
arduino uno microcontroller board) which will store the fingerprints of the users.

Hardware requirements:

 Arduino Uno R3 (Microcontroller board)

 12 volt Solenoid lock
 Adafruit Fingerprint Sensor
 TIP 122 Transistor
 12 volt battery (power supply)
 Jumper wires
 Universal SIM900A GSM Modem with SMA Antenna (for sending message)
 Wires for connection

Software requirement: The entire project will be programmed using the Arduino IDE
software.

Memory requirements: 4GB RAM and minimum 2GB hard disk memory

Conclusion: The project undertaken has helped gain a better perspective on various aspects
related to our course of study as well as practical knowledge of electronic equipment and
communication. The extensive capabilities of this system are what makes it so interesting.
From the convenience of a simple cell phone and a unique fingerprint, it is possible for the
user to rest assured that their belongings are secure.
