Theurgy: the Light that is Knowledge.

There is a common misunderstanding about the reason to perform magical acts. In the pop
culture, and with the rising of new magical paths in the last century, there is this idea of the
magic as a mean towards power, personal growth and egoistic and material goods. There
are paths that seem the human nature in this way, as just a mere material being in time and
space, and the magic as a mere possibility of this biological psyche. Even if this goals fits
enterely within a true spiritual path, magic could be much more than a simple other
prosecution of material goals.

Every path of magic works with a set of spiritual beings or entities that fit with its goal. This
can be seen as the invisible counterpart of the magical act, as the being that answer at the
other line of the phone. When a person performs a magical act, the invisible counterpart
responds exercising a kind of invisible radiance that surrounds the magical rite and, often,
the magical operator too. When this magic is perform for a material goal, the invisible beings
that get involved radiate over it its power and life, that can easily be seen if the operator has
opened the eyes of his psyche.

This happens too if the magical act is a theurgical one, meaning a magical act performed for
spiritual awakening. The scheme is the same for all magic, even if the details could vary, as
they do. Some people thinks there is no problem to get involved in magical ways that fits in
the darkness and with terrible beings, and I won't get an answer here about it. I just want to
reflect on what is what we receive from them, and let everyone decide for himself.

In the Corpus Hermeticum we read:

"Then the Light and Life became to being. The Nous became the Light and the Soul became
the life."

You know we all have too an invisible counterpart, formed by our subtle and spiritual bodies,
employed by our inner conscience to live in the invisible planes. A kind of the same subtle
and spiritual bodies could be said for the spiritual beings. The more you ascend towards the
spiritual hyerarchy, the more simple they are.

If we understand the Nous as the spiritual intelligence, that is received and germinated in the
life of our soul, then what we perceived as the Light of the spiritual beings could involve
much more.
The spiritual intelligence, the Nous, is, in other words, the knowledge of the living spirit. This
light is in itself knowledge, a living radiance. When a magical act is performed, we get
involve in a reciprocal and simbiotyc relation with the invisible beings. We offer our soul, the
spiritual life that animates us, as a crátera for the spiritual radiation of the invisible beings we
work for. We receive power by its light, but we receive knowledge too. Our soul is
transformed in part to be alike them, as we receive their knowledge within us.
