CHAPTER I. INTRODUCTION
Conceptual/Theoretical Framework
Statement of the Problem
This study was designed to answer the following questions:
Statement of Hypothesis
This study tested the null hypothesis through the corresponding statistical tests. (0.05 confidence
limit).
This chapter presents the analysis and interpretation of the data gathered in this study. The
course of the analysis and interpretation was guided by the problems presented in Chapter 1.
Table 1 shows the ranking of the most and least recognized terms and concepts of the
respondents. (Presentation)
OPAC 84 1 Microfiche 10 1
Bibliography 80 4
(Analysis) Identified as the most recognized terms were OPAC (84 percent), copyright (81
percent), revised edition (81 percent), and bibliography (80 percent). Microfiche (10 percent), gazetteers
(11 percent), and collection development (12 percent) were the least recognized terms.
(Interpretation) The extent to which the respondents recognized terms used in the library may
be attributed to the law of exercise which is concerned with the practice of the learning skill. Further,
the more frequently new learning is repeated, the better the learning (Torres, 1994). In library use and
patronage, when students are not exposed to the use of available materials and other services offered
by the library, familiarity with terms is likely to be affected. According to the law of disuse, a skill that is
not practiced and knowledge that is not used are forgotten (Torres, 1994). This observation is very much
evident in the respondents’ low recognition level of some of the terms indicated in Table 1.
CHAPTER V. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
This chapter presents the summary of findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the study.
