TASK1

The table illustrates the percentage of various expenditures spent on by different nationals
from(by) five countries in the year of 2002. In general, food and drinks covered up most of their
expenses while leisure/education was least spent on. (should go to the overview part)

Overview must be your second or last paragraph. (Overview is a summary of the main features
shown in the diagram. – You may start this with the word Overall, …)

It can be seen that the food and drinks section (food/drinks/tobacco section) was very
important in the consumer spending that it was given (a top) priority by most countries namely;
Turkey, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Sweden with Turkey by far, as the number one consumer for
this section at 32.1% followed by Ireland at 28.1%.

Meanwhile, while Turkish people spent most funds in food and

beverages((food/drinks/tobacco), they only spent 4.35% to(on) leisure/education similar to the
Irish by only spending 2.21% in this area (Did you mean in these countries? )surprisingly(,) not
making it a (top) priority. On the other hand, the other three countries also spent poorly in
leisure/education with Spain having the least amount of money going in this category.

Alternatively(why use this adverb here?), it can be seen that an average amount(what do you
mean?) of spending(delete this) consumer spending can be seen under clothing and footwear
for these five countries.

Comments/Feedback

1. Data reporting is incomplete and last paragraphs are unclear. Overview part is
also very necessary.
2. Rephrasing - on the first paragraph - The table illustrates the percentage of various
expenditures spent on by(one preposition only) different nationals from(by) five
countries in the year of 2002. (if you want you can change countries to nations)
3. Number of words – 173 which exceeded the required 150 words. Ok
4. Use the same words if referring for the same section (e.g. food/drinks/tobacco
should not change in the reporting as it will confuse the examiner).
5. Your Band score for this task is 5.5 (based on writing band descriptors)
