Ecobricks Philippines was created to address the plastic pollution and solid waste
management problems in the country, the Philippines being the 3rd ocean polluter of the
world. The purpose is to minimize plastic wastes going to the landfills and eventually
into the oceans.

An ecobrick is a plastic bottle packed to a set density with used, clean and dry plastic to
achieve a building block that can be used over and over again. They are used to make
modular furniture, garden spaces, walls and building structures. It is a low-tech way that
individuals, communities and companies can start immediately towards the transition
from use of too much plastic to zero plastic waste. The ecobricks concept is based on the
technology developed by the Global Ecobricks Alliance (GEA) Movement. The GEA
continuously provide technical support and research and development through its open
source website: www.ecobricks.org.

Ecobricks Philippines has partnered with various sectors all over the country to
replicate proper ecobricks making and implement ecobricks projects. It has directly
empowered and increased ecological awareness of community members through direct
participation in capacity development workshops.
