This section provides information on standards activity within CEN

CEN/CENELEC – the European Committee for Standardization – and CENELEC –
the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization.
Standards Activity CEN and CENELEC are composed of European member bodies
whose countries cooperate within the European Economic Com-
munity (Common Market) and the European Free Trade Associa-
tion (EFTA). Their primary purpose is to develop standards
needed to harmonize European interests and prevent technical
barriers. Both CEN and CENELEC are committed to adopting
standards developed by ISO and IEC wherever possible.
ANSI is publishing this information to give U.S. interests an oppor-
tunity to obtain information, and to comment on proposed Euro-
pean Standards and/or Harmonization Documents being circulated
for enquiry. Anyone interested in obtaining this information, and/or
commenting on proposals should order copies from ANSI.
Comments regarding CEN are to be sent to Henrietta Scully at
ANSI's New York offices. Comments regarding CENELEC are to
be sent to Charles T. Zegers, also at ANSI's New York offices.
Ordering Instructions
ENs are available via ANSI's Electronic Standards Store
(ESS) at www.ansi.org
prENs are not currently available via the ESS. However,
they should be available before the final date for offering
