CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

Background of the study

Matigsalug people who experience discrimination against themselves can suffer social
relation that can be severely impacted as a result of discrimination. The matigsalug are
significant negative consequences with the general well-being, self-esteem, self-worth, and
mostly small in structure with dark brown complexion and curly hair and because of this
physical appearance they experience bullying that lead the matigsalug students who choose
to stay at home than to go to school and some student they don’t want to be their friends
and they don’t like to communicate them, because they under estimate them and them and
their want are thing they can do.

We choose to study this because we want to provide people especially matigsalug

with the legal right to be treated equally. And we want to protect the matigsalug student from
the discrimination maybe the time will come the discrimination resulted in the matigsalug
student attempting to commit suicide and it might they lose their self-confidence and we give
attention to this research because we can see that most of the matigsalug student experience
being bullied.

State the gap:

In Manila despite a created constitution that guaranty of a special law for the
protection of the rights of indigenous people in the Philippines population but still there
complains of discrimination that suppresses than basic rights and development.

The indigenous people in the Philippines also poor many challenges in the contexts
of development peace and security, and human rights, most notably in Mindanao were the
overall socio-economic indicators are some of the lowest in the country and were there has
been long standing armed conflict said Matias Lanto, the deputy head of the Europe united
union diligritism of the Philippines.

Mendoza said the indigenous people want recognition of their distinct identify in
their ancestral domain.
In European Union delegation to the Philippines deferent indigenous group spoke on
their containing assertion for what they call their ancestral domain. The prevailing pro-trails
to their peaceful settlement due to the excessing of paramilitary in other armed conflict and
the neglect by some government agencies in terms of development programs. We have to
admit that despite the existence of this indigenous people rights act of 1997, the security of
their right ashamed in the 1997 Philippines constitutional and the abundant of international
covenants and treats. Which pocket the rights of indigenous people.
